I walk into a fight say after the gate boss as soon as it starts I am targeted. I havent hit the mobs, im not the closest to the mob and I am not the farthest away but as soon as they turn red they are targeting me.

Its not just those mobs either, it seems that every sniper is targeting me no matter what I do.

Once I die, I run back in and they start targeting me again. It just doesnt make sense.

The amount I am targeted is disproportionate than to other people I have run with. Additionally if I dont hit the mob why is it attacking me at all? I mean really? I run in after a battle is in progress and it still targets me?

As I said, you take it personally. They are targeting who they want. It doesnt matter, there isnt really an agro system in GW2. If you get into combat range, hope for the best, prepare for the worst tbh.

Plus you could have easily dodged the snipers, they are quiet obvious when they aim.
