Why is there a DR system? (Outside of Exploiting)
The theory is that they want a roadblock to stop potential dungeon exploits from causing a massive explosion of gains. The actual application however is completely inane partly because they, for some unimaginable reason, refuse to tell us exactly how it is supposed to work.

Yeah I understand that, I’m glad they have taken measures to limit the people who were exploiting the dungeons for quick gear. But my bewilderment comes when the people who are playing the dungeons legitimately and well are being punished for doing so.
I just don’t understand why there needs to be a DR system for none exploiters.
They assume because it is going to break the economy. LOL, the rewards were already terrible, and in the time spent there i could have gained more money elsewhere.
It is God’s decision that i fight.
As knight of honor, as protector of the sin. I sacrifice myself, for the blood of criminals.

Then surely they should have properly tested there dungeons and correctly balanced a reward to time ratio based on average player skill instead of putting in a artificial system which makes running dungeons self defeating rather than rewarding.
The wall between people that want an endgame and Anet’s initial design for the game will slowly fall brick by brick. Baically they want change how you play mmo’s and do all the content to get rewards. So anet all we want is the game as it stands without all these ridiculous rules so we can enjoy the game to its max .

Although Explorable Mode is designed to be replayable and Story Mode is a more linear experience, both can be replayed as many times as you like.
“The Story Mode is designed to be easier than the Explorable Mode. Explorable is also, as it’s name implies… very replayable.
They are supposed to be re-playable
Actually, I love the DR system. I have realized how great it is. People in the guild are playing less because there is no point to do dungeons more than once a day, especially when you can’t even get 60 shards on the first run of the day. This frees up time for everyone to stop playing this game and go back to real life. No longer will there be hours and hours of shard farming. Thanks ANET.
SoS – The Industry[WORK]
Just to make sure if I got it right. So if we run dungeons with this DR system in mind and loop all 8 dungeons in order, when we can afford the armor set we wanted form a dungeon with tokens, we in fact can afford ALL the 8 dungeon armor sets since we have ALL the dungeons’ tokens around the same amount? How does this help us? It will take 7 times more than before to get a set of armor. And when I do I get 7 more account bound armor sets that I won’t probably use and cannot sell. So the time I spend for that 7 armor sets are just…. puff…

AN said “GW2 is not a farming game”. In practice – GW2 is all about farm. Make it events in Orr, make it dungeons, hell – make it WvWvW – it’s still farm.
So, instead of really giving us content so we won’t do same things again and again – they punish you for doing what you want to do for too long. As in:
- fightning same kind of mobs will give you worse and worse loot (Orr fails in that, as there are 99% risen mobs)
- doing same dungeon twice a row – you are a victim of stupidly designed DR system
- etc. etc.
I see no reason to punish people for wanting to run dungeons back to back, after all the design in their dungeon dictates you HAVE to do that in order to get a complete set of dungeon gear. You can’t use your Shards of Zhaitan to buy Twilight Arbor gear.
I get that they want to stop the exploits and people speed clearing through dungeons completely negating their work in designing these encounters. But this is the wrong way to go about it.
I have yet to get hit by DR’s. I only am running about 2-3 dungeons a day(all back to back) while working on the other parts for my legendary. I think what they want to do is make it so farming all the different paths is more efficient than just continuously doing one. Whether it is working as intended I have no idea. Maybe I am just getting lucky.
Their intention is for the DR system to only affect exploiters, so it’s not really working correctly at the moment.

how is WvW farming?
If you run with a group that can take several camps/towers/keeps in succession, you can get a relatively large amount of gold and karma. Not to mention the large number of drops.
But yes, the DR system is malfunctioning. Once the bugs are worked out, Anet has said they want to tune both it and the dungeons so that even the speed-farmers won’t be affected, so long as they use ‘legit’ methods. It’s just a safeguard so that another CoF-level exploit doesn’t throw the economy out of whack and devalue the dungeon set(s).
The top tier of players may bump into issues every so often as they improve more and more, but Anet can adjust numbers to compensate. The average player will have absolutely nothing to worry about, so long as they don’t exploit, since I’m guessing said average player often doesn’t have time to do more than a handful of paths on a normal day anyway.
People are just jumping to the worst conclusions because Anet took the silver platter away with the CoF nerf/fix, and OMG I WANT BEST LOOKING ARMOR NOW AND YOU’RE MAKING ME GRIND FOR LONGER WAAAHHHH.
Seriously people. I know everyone feels like they should be adding more content, but it takes time to make and they have to ensure the rest of the game isn’t going to break on them in the meantime.
