Actually a different thread about skins sort of sparked this thought. It’s going to be nearly a year since the release of FOTM, and arguably by many it’s currently the best/most challenging endgame content this game currently has. So how come we haven’t seen any added unique rewards or incentives for fractals then?

It’s a bit surprising that every other aspect of the game has seen advancement of some sort (Dungeon loot has gotten buffed, champion loot has gotten buffed, WvW rewards buffed, new sPvP maps and trait changes, living story progression, etc), but one of their most popular content hasn’t received any additional maps/rewards/buffs to loot at all.

Three new fractals are going to be coming out by the end of the year. I imagine there might even be new rewards tied to them or something, considering it’s a pretty major fractal update.

I’d hardly call Fractals the best/most challenging content in the game…

There’s no challenge in tediously large health pools and increasing amounts of damage.

High level Fractals just take more time, and only slightly more coordination, but most importantly, more time.

I think Anet has big plans for fractals. It may not be the hardest end game content but I see them using the experiences from all these living world instances as a learning curve. I expect that the bosses we fight in the new fractals will be more challenging then Lupi ever was. Trollers, expect to see the complaints flow for fractals once again!

I guess if your prediction is true, we’re going to have a field day (month probably) on here, with many front page liberations etc…

… but for that to happen, Anet needs to actually do something right. And we’ve seen how well they perform in the “doing things right” section of things.

Sunrise. 49 charged lodes to go (and I had crazy luck today, did CoE p1 and p3 and got 2 lodes and a core along with like 2 more rares), sigil then 100% map completion.

It also means I’m going to try and be a scrub running my greatsword in a dungeon until the novelty of a legendary wears off.

For one, you needed ascended to get AR to move forward in fractals.

Then we got the amulet. Not in fractals.

Then the earrings. Again not in fractals.

Armor? Won’t be in fractals.

Weapons? Won’t be in fractals.

Why do ascended items have infusion slots, again?

The balance team is chained to SPVP, and the PVE team is all about producing carnivals

maybe we will get armours and weapons in fractals. I’m guessing each one of them will need 100 components, you can only get a maximum of 1 per day. And you will only be able to do 1 run per day.

I think there is more to fractals. You will see. I love how T6 materials are coming down in price. I too am working on sunrise and the lodestones are all I need. Since they were going for 2.8g before the living story stuff kicked inand now is around 2.2g. I only have 2 >:(

What’s more challenging then progressing to level 80 FOTM? Only thing that was tougher was the Liadri 8 orb achievement, otherwise no other content is even remotely challenging. Solo’ing lupi is all about learning the fight, if you consider that ‘challenging’ then I don’t know what to say.

Anyways, point is yes we don’t really have any challenging PVE content, but the closest would be higher FOTM and the rewards are lackluster compared to other aspects of the game.

The question you should be asking is why there’s no dungeon incentive since everyone got their dungeon weps/armor.

Were there any classes that didn’t manage to do 8 orb Liadri? I’m not aware of any that didn’t manage it, though it’s not like I really went looking. My point is, 8 orb Liadri is challenging until you learn the encounter. Once you’ve learned it, it becomes muscle memory, which is very much the same as Lupicus. In some ways, Lupicus has more abilities to learn to counter, than Liadri had attacks/mechanics, so you could probably argue that 8 orb Liadri could be easier.

I’m just saying that I don’t think you can say that solo’ing Lupicus isn’t challenging because “you just learn the fight”, and then go on to say that 8 orb Liadri was/is challenging.

Liadri is all about paying attention to multiple of simultaneous actions for 1-2 minute and retraiting in some cases.

How many people did 8 orbs a week after it’s been released and how many people did solo lupi a year after the game was released?
