Why not remove gotl
Why not remove warrior? It gives banners, EA, 25 might.
Why not remove chrono? It can keep up permanent alacrity and quickness.
Why not remove anything I don’t like?
Removing GotL doesn’t do what you want it to do. It doesn’t make “other healers” viable, it just makes Druid less viable.
You have to realize that the only reason having a dedicated healer works at all is because it gives so many offensive boosts even with like 1k DPS itself. Taking that away doesn’t suddenly make other healers viable; the reason other healers are horrible is because they do 1k DPS and offer no meaningful damage boosts to the team. They are literally being carried at that point.
If you really want to play Ventari Revenant healer or something, you should appeal to ANet to make Assassin’s Presence add 250 ferocity or something like that.
The problem with GotL its that too powerfull to be an exclusive buff, just like alacry.
Exclusive buffs should at most be like the aura 180+ of one stat.
10 % ( 15% before ) its way to powerfull but i’m sure A-Net will give GotL to another class on the next expansion.

Question, since I’ve never set foot into a GW2 raid: Are healing requirements (for an average group) so low that offensive buffs are the only reason to exist for a (druid) healer? Because otherwise, your statement doesn’t make sense.

For a really good group, yes. Really good groups dont run with “real” healers, but simply have a full dmg druid for GotL.
For “normal” good groups, partly, the healing from a druid is more then enough. And since you need to bring a druid anyway (spotter/spirits) it just make sense for him to be the healer. We have started to see a few heal chronos also, where the chrono then heal, tank and do his normal buffing all at the same time. This mean that the druid can go more dmg (or full dmg) and just use avatar for GotL.
For bad groups, or groups learning new fights. Heal temp or ventari is a good second healer, but even here you still need the druid buffs (spotter/spirits) and can therefore just as easy also have the druid heal. Then you will often just end up with running 2 FULL healers over the normal 1 full heal + 1 off-healer.
All this said, if you have a good group, you can naturally bring any healer and have a good run. The 10% buff from GotL will just make you kill faster.
