Why the trinity more popular in dun speed run
For optimized speedruns in guild+teamspeak groups focussing on exploiting easy bosses … sure those are boss. In a pug group for more difficult content, I’d prefer a bit of support from engi, guardian and dps from more durable professions like necro.
Apples and oranges.

Now I agree. You don’t need to exploit Lupicus, he is easier and faster with 3-4 warriors and 1 mesmer even if done the intended way.

It’s not really a trinity. If present, a Thief fulfills the same role as Warrior – large amounts of raw direct damage.
Other professions are a perfectly capable addition to teams, but they tend to be more support-based. Speedruns are done on areas where support isn’t at all needed (CoF 1) or by people skilled enough to be able to compensate for its lack.

Recent one!

Nah, warriors don’t make it as good as mesmers. Mesmers are by far the strongest PvE profession due to one skill: feedback. Those speedruns you see of lupi going down in 45 seconds? Yeah, that’s primarily due to well timed feedbacks. No one dodges on lupi in those speed runs: that’s because guardian aegis allows them to keep up DPS and not have to dodge. The warriors really shave off seconds whereas the mesmer and guardian are shaving off literally mintues. You know what the warriors do on lupi? Spam skills. They don’t really have to time anything close to how the mesmer has to time feedback. They are quite literally being carried.
I’m unbiased because I only play ranger so obviously I couldn’t care less about speed runs—no one will even let me try to speed run with them. Anyone who disagrees is just wrong. Mesmer reflection is way OP and somewhat exploity. Lupicus stands outside of the feedback bubble, it shouldn’t even work if you ask me.

Mesmer-warrior-thief doesn’t form a trinity, warriors and thieves are both taken as dps classes and for might stacking (thieves via blast finishers). The third leg of the trinity is a guardian for fights where you can’t just zerg it down so you put in a guardian, get more boons going (particularly well timed aegis and anything to boost the empowered trait), increase how long the group can sit in the face of the boss, and boost how much damage you can output before the boss can wear you down.
Feedback is a situational utility skill that you can use. Just because it happens to do considerable amounts of damage on one particular boss does not mean Mesmer is the strongest PvE class.

That and it’s not the only reflect, if you really JUST wanted reflect then trait wardens, 100% uptime reflect.
