So basically they took Dredge (Always skipped for first fractal due to difficulty, time taken to complete) and made it……harder?

1. Ice boss buff

2. No wheel or pulling Rabslovich now.

Why was this done? It was hard enough before. Whats so special about dredge vs ….Ocean (easy)

My static never skipped Dredge due to difficulty (though I’m fully aware that many PUGs do), but rather due to the sheer amount of time it takes compared to other fractals. In my mind, that’s the real discrepancy.

Both the bomb and turret hallways take longer than most fractals’ in-between-ish areas. Clear enormous group, stop, clear another enormous group, stop, tank enormous group while performing specific task (which in the case of the bombs is artificially lengthened by the slow respawn rates on bombs).

The Rabsovich fight takes longer than virtually any final boss in Fractals, with the possible exception of Jade Maw. This is true regardless of whether the wheel exploit was utilized, and in fact the wheel exploit probably sped things up by decreasing the number of times that players unskilled at dodging got downed.

The final boss is one of the more time-consuming boss fights in Fractals, depending on the boss and whether it’s a PUG or a static group. Nowhere near as long as the Rabsovich fight, but it’s up there at the top.

IMO, a massive reduction to Rabsovich’s health pool would resolve the issue for most players, though the boss fight will still require synchronization.

theres been some teams (30+ comes to mind) where we would do wheel before patch and Rabslovich didnt even take any damage until all the dredge were dead and we focus’ed 100 percent DPS on him. Probaly is a good idea to reduce his HP and I think I would be less mad about this dredge patch buff (minus the ice ele now which could be tweaked)

love dredge bagz. never used wheel and never had any problem with Rabsovich, geting downed is not rly a problem when you are not alone. don’t get what’s your problem.

tho i have problem with you if it was ‘hard’ for you while exploiting.

What annoyes me the most is the Ice boss buff. its exstremly hard to dodge his agony attack since it appear and hit me almost faster than I can react.

Did get a drege fractal with ice boss today on lvl 10 with guildies. all 4 of them had 0 AR and was wiped exstremly fast and the only thing that kept me alive was 25 AR. I have done ice boss many times before at lvl 20 before patch and it hasnt been a problem, however, the agony attack appear and hit way much faster than before. as if it wasnt annoying even before the path but at least you were able to dodge it.

They fixed the wheel and pull boss out exploit. The ice boss was significantly easier than dredge, so it got fixed, too.

1: Pulling boss out is not an exploit. Not like you could pull him ridiculously far away or anything.
2: Wheel fix is perfectly acceptable. This was always a bug.
3: Those adds with the boss hurts…A LOT!
4: All the mobs are immune to blind. Makes the fact of dealing with hundreds of them even more annoying than it has to be.
4: LONGEST GOD KITTEN BORING FRACTALS AMONGST ALL OF THEM!
5: Buffing Elemental is fine. However, they clearly over did it.

What I have done so far with my 20 and 30 groups is I re-roll dredge stage fist now, to see if my group can get past it. If it can, it saves me the trouble of getting it as the 3rd fractal and having to completely abandon the run if the group can’t handle it.

The new ice attack isn’t difficult to evade. It has almost the same timing as Alpha’s ice aoe pretty much. Try not to backpedal all the way from point to point, sometimes its better to turn around and run. Often I find people getting closed in by the boss and waste dodges for unnecessary attacks.

Finally, there’s nothing wrong with skipping combat for one length of the way if you are low on hp. It is definitely safer to do this against the Ice Elemental rather than Powersuit, as Powersuit’s agony attack hits the whole room.

The issue is the agony insta hitting people, before they can dodge out of the AOE. Alpha’s AOE only applies any damage/conditions if you wait and do not dodge. For ice ele, The circles appear, agony is instantly applied, then additionally, the damage is applied if you dont dodge after. However, the intial agony is enough to kill by itself

and ya i never really considered pulling rabslovich in the next room an exploit o.o since in gw1 every encounter = Pull groups slowly to big open area. I had no idea it wasnt intended. Wheel, sketch a bit but again, not realize it was a “exploit”

Not happy with that archdiviner level and the regenerating seals. Was buggy pre-patch and getting thrown in the cage, then shooting at him inside of it and then not being able to get out. Gates also would not open pre-patch.

Regenerating bosses when using the terrain to your advantage. Such as the Ascalon Captain who can cover a lot of ground, why can’t I use that pillar to block him. The three fractal segments take several hours to complete already having it take even more is not acceptable, not fun.

If that’s the case, why can you still pull the trash out? Why are the boss and the trash two seperate groups at all, instead of one big group?
Nothing in how the mechanic has worked and in fact still works indicates that you are not supposed to kill the trash and the boss one after another. All that’s been changed is the order in which you have to kill and the time it takes.

Either way it’s just plain boring. This is one of the biggest snoozefests of a boss encounter in the entire game. DPS, stop and dodge ground-based attack, DPS some more. Astoundingly repetitive and boring, overly long due to excessive HP padding.

I concur. The problem with Dredge is not difficulty versus other fractals, it’s time investment versus other fractals. I’m very confused as to how the developers responsible for FotM in the first place didn’t see the massive discrepancy. I’m even more confused about how after months of gathering metrics on FotM, the dev team decided to implement changes which only increase the time investment.

I concur. The problem with Dredge is not difficulty versus other fractals, it’s time investment versus other fractals. I’m very confused as to how the developers responsible for FotM in the first place didn’t see the massive discrepancy. So much this. This is the problem and needs to be highlighted, especially since fractals is suppose to be a series of challenging mini-dungeons, not two mini-dungeons and an easy-but-long-and-tedious real one.

The general opinion in my guild on dredge is hate. When we (my guild and some pugs) talked about how much we hated it, we all actually said that it wasn’t hard, just stupidly long and tedious compared to all other fractals, and seems out of place in the rotation. They need to bring this fractal’s time requirement more in line with others, or people will continue to moan when teleported to this fractal.

My guild actually thought that dredge had a weird length for a while now, because even Cliffside and Volcano don’t take nearly as long.

Dredge sucks. The entire thing is way to long for no real reason. They need to cut out one of the parts to it in order to shorten it down.

As of now, the only redeemable quality it has is the Miner Bags, but I much rather just avoid it entirely.

The difficulty hasn’t changed. The ice elmental will be fixed and instead of Rab you can keep pulling the waves of mobs, sure it takes a bit more time, but easy enough.

Dungeon is too long – yes.

Problem with Rasbcovich is the fact that his minions apply constant regen and protection (as well as the veteran he spawns). If you pulled him out, you could stripe these and DPS him faster. Now, as you fight the minions at the same time and have to split DPS and raise people, it takes exponentially longer.

Not to mention the boss buff, which combined with the difficulty with dredge boss “double dodge lol oh wait you lagged and didn’t mash too bad” there are a lot of downs there as well.

A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

The new overhead ice attack is easy to dodge, and that unavoidable agony thing is going to be looked at. Also, you can still pull the rest of the mobs except for the champ who will reset and do it in reverse order if you really have to. We usually just kill a large majority of the mobs then pull the champ around the back of the truck and fight him on his own.

This patch made me buy a rifle and a new axe on my warrior and stick sigil of nullification on it, and my Mesmer to melee with sword in addition to Arcane Thievery and Nullfield because Rabsovich (and all dredge for that matter) takes forever to die now that we can’t drag him out and anything i can do to remove as many as his boons as quickly as possible helps.

Aeiterealle – Asura Mesmer.
Antherealle – Asura Engineer.
Trucy Millers – Human Warrior.

Massive protection spam doesn’t help this at all. I’m amazed it has been mentioned so little. Combined with their high hit points and sheer numbers, you literally can finish three fractals in the time it takes to finish this single one. Cliffside takes around 1/2-2/3 the time it takes to complete the dredge fractal at 2X and 3X (20-25 minutes), and I would say that cliffside is the absolute longest time a fractal should be.
