Wiping is not an improvement
Give it a few days and see how you feel afterward.
Not only did they dial back on quite a few things to compensate for the change. But the player-base having what essentially boiled down to infinite healthpools really stunted our exploration into support and control roles.
Dungeons don’t seem as capable of punishment as they used to be, and we’re capable of taking more of it than we really know.
I agree with this. Sometimes it’s nearly impossible to break combat (for whatever reason). So it comes down on wiping on purpose. Other than more cash for the repair vendor, it’s not an improvement in my honest opinion. I have been in a lot of groups that disbanded after a single (silly) wipe.
Only time will tell if this was a good idea or not. But my first impression about it isn’t very good.
The reason I avoid FoTM is because the team has to wipe whenever someone’s dead. Now Anet’s making dungeons resemble FoTM? Not funny. This is NOT polishing it. The previous ‘Down, rez. Dead, wp’ worked marvelously. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
This will only cause players to not want pugs. I’ve played with a lot of pugs and they’re generally an awesome bunch, even the inexperienced will do well with a little guidance. This ‘no wp’ thing only hurts the learning experience and please, everyone’s a noob once and this will only cause the more experienced to be more picky about players.
Most of the people I’ve added to my guild and friend list are from PUGs that were fun.
I’m think this is just going to hamstring the dungeon system no matter how ‘polished’ or ‘easy’ they make things.
I’m still getting level 30 loot on my 80…ARGH to that sir.
