I just came from Arah path 4 after spending some 5 hours in there and still leaving empty handed. This was the worst experience i’ve ever had in a game and in particular in any dungeon.
None of us had done this path b4 and so we thought it would be fun but it turned out into a nightmare. Having to fight that monstrosity Lupicus on every path is sheer madness itself but he was nothing compared to the stupidity of Simin encounter. We literally spent hours on her couldn’t figure out how to kill her. Some ppl quit so we replaced them with others who had supposedly done it b4 and even after giving us some guidance on how to do it, we couldn’t finish it. It was the dumbest, most boring boss encounter ever!
I stayed for so long as the girl who originally started the group needs path 4 to finish her dungeon master. Poor thing, she has literally spent 8 hours in there trying and i did my damnedest to help her but in the end, i finished up with a headache and so tired, i couldn’t carry on and had to leave her in there. She was all alone, was still there some time after i had gone, no doubt trying to form another group. I felt bad leaving her but i couldn’t take the stupidity of the whole thing any longer.

How is a person who’s never done this b4 supposed to actually do it? What exactly did the devs think of when they created this moronic scenario? That it’s going to be fun? Challenging? Well its none of those. The only thing it left me feeling is totally annoyed and angry that i wasted all that time in there. Simin wasn’t challenging at all, the whole thing was totally stupid. You get her to 50% health, she disappears and heals then reappears…the whole infinite cycle is just that same thing that goes on and on and on and on ad nasueum. Really, REALLY disappointed.

To add insult to injury, i had gotten 4 blue bags during the run. These bags hold 3 arah tokens, some karma and a silver or 2. When i got back to town went to open my blue bags and there’s only 1 left in my inventory. I know what some may say, you must have opened them but if i did i would have those tokens still in my bag and no, i did not open them, they simply disappeared from my bags. And no, my bags weren’t full either. So is this how you reward your players? Even the paltry rewards you get for such a gigantic effort, you make them vanish? Are they on a timer or something, so if you don’t open them within certain time they disappear? Or is this yet another bug and we just have to choke it up?

Well that really made me mad, because I need those tokens for Bifrost. Another 150 and losing those bags was the last straw. I don’t think i’ll bother with it any more. Screw Arah. Screw Legendary Weapon and Screw your friggin dungeons!

I’d probably start by reading the wiki entry and then maybe some other walkthroughs.

Then I’d organize a party and make sure everyone understands the key mechanics to each encounter, and plan the party build around that.

And IMO, that is as kitten backwards as it gets. A game should be solvable from within the game, anything else is insane.

Then again the MMO dungeonering attitude in general seems to be that you need to sit through a college course on each dungeon, and ace the exam, to be allowed to even be considered into a group.

What is this, a game or a job?

Always do your research to impress the girl, mate. Winging it nets her a headache and you empty handed.

who wrote the wiki? unless it’s the game developers, then someone had to have figured out the boss without guides to help them. and if they can do it, you can to.

yes, but those players were ready and willing to invest a bunch of time into not only completing the dungeon run, but also experimenting on various encounters.

Not everyone has the time and/or patience for that. I know I don’t, and it certainly looks like the OP doesn’t either.

who wrote the wiki? unless it’s the game developers, then someone had to have figured out the boss without guides to help them. and if they can do it, you can to.

If you haven’t played since release, then you don’t remember how long a typical dungeon run took when the game first came out and there were no wikis or youtube videos telling you how to beat each dungeon.

There are still reddit posts you can dig up from around that time screaming about how hard dungeons were. Now people complain that they’re too easy.

OP, please do yourself and your friend a favor and go search for some YouTube videos that explain how to beat Arah. Sure, you can not do that and stubbornly figure it all out on your own. But, just know you’re signing up for a very large time commitment that is completely unnecessary since other people that came before you have left detailed instructions. Add to that, Arah is still pretty difficult even if you know how to beat everything.

I agree, so go back and try again. You’ve made one visit there. Try two, three, or four visits. This is the last dungeon where you have to think up tactics before all dungeon paths become repeatable reward content so make the most out of the challenge. Try to master the other paths so that Lupicus and the trash groups are not big obstacles.

If every dungeon could be completed on the first visit by players, even those who do not know the dungeon, then the dungeons are too easy. Arah path 4 is the last path in the hardest dungeon and it is fair for it to be too difficult without tactics. I think it is a reasonable complaint that path 4 is too long compared to other paths.

P4 is fairly easy with a couple of experienced players.

But i do agree it can be a nightmare for PUG’s, and is way too long….

That being said I reccommend that you find yourself a Dungeon Guild that runs Arah and message them for some help or advice. Alot of them are listed in the Guilds section of this Forum. And hopefully one or 2 of them are willing to help you out.

I have to disagree, i’ve done path 3 several times and other than Lupicus i find it acceptable. Lupcus is hard but in a way he’s more straight forward than Simin to me. Simin is pure trickery and I hate that. With Lupicus, he’s actually a challenging boss and you have to have your wits about you to survive him, altho i think he’s way too OP imo and it becomes tedious and repetitive having to fight him on each path. With Simin on the other hand, most of us were yawning after a while.

Crap, someone was faster than me. And that’s it, Arah p4 is easy compared to the other 3 paths. The problem though is that the bosses have HUGE hp pools, so even the most idiot fights can be boring.

Lupicus and the Dwayna girl are pretty interesting on the other hand. Well, Lupi has just too much hp, but the fight tends do be more interesting because you need to move more, to be a lot more careful.
And the Dwayna boss is hard because you and your party JUST NEEDS COORDINATION. Let me say it again, COORDINATION. Yeah, just that. Say to your party members “hey, I’ll lure this one, and you stay there, and you there.” Then choose someone to use the tears when the others get debuffed.

I’m a Dungeon Master, I spent 4 hours doing this dungeon as well (and finished thank god). Lupi and Dwayna took 1 hour and a half (a few people really know how to fight lupi, the rest just leave), the other 2 and a half hours consisted of running around and killing the other boring bosses.

Tbh, I’d love to see some balances, or even remakes. AC was really easy, but it’s a lot funnier now because you have more stuff to do besides stand still and hit the boss. On the other hand, graveling still apply 3 stacks of bleeding every attack, and the Spider Queen AoE lasts for a really long time, allowing her to have 6 fields of poison for some seconds.

And there’s probably why you are complaining: you are too used to easy stuff like standing still and attacking the boss, maybe moving here and there to get out of an AoE or dodge a predictable skill.

I lost 4 hours on arah p4, and no success.

Dwayna encounter is kinda bugged. Her timer on selfheal is kinda broken making it impossible to kill or even go below 50%.

that’s me and 4 1st timers. Really not that hard of an encounter if you just bring in good dps. We had a tank guardian and a condition mesmer (who dced half way through). If we could do it then anyone can do it. I really hope the vid helps.

Another thing, the other thief who was bringing in the sparks 1st, if he brought them in length wise instead of across, it would have made it a lot easier for me to get mine in faster. If u can run them straight through it makes them go in easier.

To beat simin you need to have a couple of warrior or theif in full berserker you need a lot of damage to beat his hp regen it used to be a lot worse before it got nerfed but its totally doable.

And that’s where I start to laugh at all those people who insist on playing tanky rangers and other useless (atm) pve professions\builds while flaming on glass cannon “noob” wars, guards and mesmers.

On topic: yeah, you either need to spend a lot of time with dedicated team to figure out the bosses or just read\watch some guides. Can’t get something for nothing.

If you expect fun as facerolling through the last (generally regarded as the hardest) path of the last set of (generally regarded as the hardest) dungeon for the first time with no prior experience nor running with experienced players, I think you need to re-access your expectation and also your sense of reality.
