I’m not against the elitist community in dungeons.

But you’ve got to admit, even among the elitist community, there’s that one guy that just makes you tilt your head and be like, “really?”

I just want to hear your stories when you’ve encountered one of these.

For me, just today, ran a TA path. This warrior was just calling everyone noobs and scrubs, kept asking where the ele’s ice bow was and calling out the thief for his stealth. What was really funny was that before the thief and ele joined, he was like we won’t need an ele or thief and the entire run he relied so much on them. And started to kitten when they didn’t do things the way he wanted. They were dropping ice bow and stealth, just not for him. Lols, the experience in person was more funny than I can really explain.

What kind of elitist adventurers have you encountered?

Those people that expect everything to be 100% perfect and will call out every mistake they see, If you’re pugging no matter what you agreed to be put with a random group of people. People that call out you for not using the BiS asc gear or sigils for a weapon, using zerk or assassin. People that think AP matters, people that ping buffs/debuffs on bosses or ping the traits or skills of their other party members. People that try and force whatever choices of gear onto other people when the person didn’t ask for that advice.

It’s like people want dungeons to be completely dead, every new player I see gets kicked for having low AP and the people doing the kicking/governing the rules for these parties can’t adhere to their own rules or are not suitable/do not possess what I would consider to be the appropriate skill or knowledge to determine leading a group.

I only pug because I’ll never take this game seriously enough and I have very little motivation to farm this content to warrant joining a dedicated guild. The people complaining in pugs probably have real life issues and I just block those people. However if I set up my own pug and I specifically say I want to melee mossman or no oneshot lupi I expect all players in my group to adhere to that, I guess that is elitism and nulls alot of these complaints

COE2, guy rushes in with his dreamer in hand and pet in tow (yeah shortbow ranger) and strait to the middle of the golem room. Rest of us do the normal in and left strat, kill what follows us while we watch him nearly down before we come out and finish the stuff he pulled off. “you know it’s faster if you kill the Mk XXX first” says this ranger, which I couldn’t help but poke fun and reply with “you know it’s faster if you kill with your group”… well I guess I got under his skin. The rest of the path was underhanded comments at each other including the one that made me fall on the floor laughing. “Dude, don’t act like you know anything, 6k AP and no legendary, you’re a scrub,” my buddies and I laughed about that one for months. Eventually I got Minstrel though, now I’m awesome I guess? I don’t know if you call that elitist or not, but he was certainly a know it all… while using a shortbow on a ranger

The three worst type of Elitist in my opinion (btw I’m an elitist too, but I consider myself as a pleasant elistist )

- The guys that think he’s Elitist but he have the wrong answer. Like someone that ask to corner stack a boss that shouldn’t be corner or the classic ‘’Warrior is the highest dps’’ bullkitten.

- The guy that just copy paste what is ’’meta’’. For him every single change from what is on meta battle is like the end of the world and can’t understand that making some change can actually increase your efficiency in some situation/group composition or that some change have actually very limited negative effect. Like someone that use to freak out when you used an Hammer or a Mace on a guardian.

- Someone super strict about ’’meta’’, but not on everything. Like someone that kick a necro or someone not using a meta build instantly, but don’t mind that we don’t have the right composition or that nobody including him don’t use food or potion.

worst elitist pug i’ve ever met was a warrior in fotm 49.

I didn’t pay attention to him until we got to molten facility fractal. I started noticing he enjoyed rushing in like an idiot without blinds pulls or reflects, but i was able to make up for it with sandstorm and swirling winds. We get to the end of the tunnel and he pulls all mobs without stacking or anything. After we all wipe, i was on ele there was a mez a thief and another ele so pretty squishy group, he started telling us we lacked skill and that 5 “good” players should be able to take out the group without blinds and without stacks (he did this kind of commentary throughout the rest of the fractal telling us how to play our classes etc…). He continues to pull the mob away from the stack and just whirlwinds through them. It took 3 tries to finish it and later in the dungeon i noticed he was running shoutheal, sword/shield/gs, which was why it took so long for him to die. He really got under my skin until we got to mai trin.

Turns out he didnt have 55 ar and also didn’t know how to dodge any of mai’s attacks (I don’t really pay attention xD which is why i prob didn’t notice this before). He kept complaining in chat about how kittened up it was agony kept hitting him and ofc even with the rez trick if you don’t have enough ar you can’t come back in. So we 4 manned mai without his skillful help. Had me laughing pretty hard at the end of the fractal xD

Why would you need to tell them when you can solo them?

Rule one of PuGs: They are stupid.

Never assume that pugs are on the up and up of our filthy leet strats.

as for worst elitists my friend did a fractal and got yelled at by the guardian (who apparently can’t stay alive) to bring warhorn for vigor, cuz ya know fractals below 40 ARE SO HARD. It just funny that this guard kept saying warhorn is what every warrior should have cuz its so good xD

Every warrior should have a warhorn, because its so good.
You can provide swiftness for your team, blast stealth and cure crippled/chilled.
I honestly don’t see why you WOULDN’T have a warhorn, lol

the guy wanted my friend to use it in fights not for blasting but just vigor. I think most of us our aware how great warhorn is but this guard wasn’t. And he’s a guard how the hell do you need vigor? you have so many ways to avoid dmg.

The worst I’ve seen in a while was a bearbow ranger complain about our lack of DPS. “I thought this was a zerk party.” Told us all to go back to WoW at the end of the run. Priceless.

In my pugging career i only have one group that fight them on the spot. 99.99% would stack in that tiny corner. so with you pulling them on the spot probably give them the idea that you don’t know what you are doing.

Its like way harder to fight them in the corner anyways. But i think pugs just like enemy aoes stacked against walls.

The worst elitist pugs to me are the people who post the stupid LFG ads demanding experienced people with specific team comps, then go ahead and include in the description that they demand guard to OS lupi.

I saw you once bug a ranger friend of yours who had like +20 vit or something…turned out it was his food xD made me laugh

Two guys blaming the thief for not using pistol to stealth. For the whole run, even after he started using pistol.
It was a CM fullrun. Many PUGs are bad at blasting fields and he even told them he’s new to playing thief.
We did everything on spot, pathed enemies, were fast for a PUG blabla. So I don’t see a reason to flame the thief for using smoke screen.
It’s was PUG, not a coordinated team. They could have asked instead of flaming him.

People who put LFG exp players in Arah but cannot dodge basic attacks of Lupi in phase 1. Then proceed to blame me for not giving aegis (I was playing as mesmer). They claim they know Arah like back of their hands but gets confused when they realize that Lupi doesn’t die on phase 2. Basically people have been carried so much in dungeons lately that they don’t even know the basic mechanics of trash mobs and boss fights. Also the same elitist who put smoke field on dredge and blamed people for dying when he blinded the mobs. lel

Last night, my fotm 40 exploded with an engi who argued with my friend and I. He had never picked up the hammer during Cliffside and stated that he needed “kit swap to survive”. So when we pointed it out how the group was just basically pushing the task to only two guys to repetitively pick up the hammer and pull, he defended himself with how he has practically “carried” the group with superior DPS and constant healing with his water field. And how we should be ashamed to bring the two useless classes, ranger and necro, to our advertised “experienced zerker” group. The guy is an disillusioned sad joke that was spoonfed by metabattles and DnT guides. Haiz…

But, he does needs his kits to survive? Assuming hes running 3 kits I could see it being really hard to hit the seal, when you initially walk in the mobs spike you pretty hard and you usually need a defensive cooldown. I’ve don’t play my engi much but what he said seems fairly reasonable.

It is, and when one person isn’t touching the hammer it can slow you down. Pugged a fractal 50 the other day, and only two of us, were touching the hammer, the other 3 didn’t want to pick it up at all. Those stacks only go down so fast .

They go down 1 stack per second so 2 ppl can easily carry it.

Problem with two people carrying it is you dont have has many chances to regen health if you are low. Thats the main issue with others not pulling their weight.

at the chest seal i dont generally wanna touch the hammer because engi has huge aoe cleave and infinite blinds, so i figure doing those things is prolly more useful than 1ing with the hammer for pathetic damage. but the rest of the time im more than happy to pick it up.

you dont need defensive cds (read: gear shield) except if you wanna cruise thru the exploding scaffolding right before final fight or to play it super safe against archdiviner (ie sucky/no guardian). engi should generally use rocket boots while carrying/travelling and whatever usual dps kits you like for all seals. tk’s magnet is good for final fight if your guard/mes misses/partials their pull (or if no one pulls).

I don’t think its asking to much for the others in the group to help out as well, it is a team effort after all.

Run 3 kits almost exclusively in fractals, and I love taking the hammer

Dodges and toolbelt skills still work just fine. Engi’s really no worse at it than anyone else.

Very true, at the same time I rather have anyone not comfortable and not wanting to learn to just leave it alone.
