Nah, I’m a huge fan of the idea of skill involved in the making of a legendary and I don’t think this is a good solution. You have to think of the repurcussions: every single encounter would be put under heavy scruitiny by runners, everyone would complain once they found something too hard, people would complain about the idea of unskilled/uncapable players being “locked out from legendaries”, people would complain about being forced into groups, people would complain about simin and as Saulius said dungeon path selling would be huge. I like the idea on paper but I think this is a situation where the cons outweight the pros.
Optimally I’d like to see small personal challenge solo dungeons for legendary items. Picture this: you have to explore a region (magumma, shiverpeaks, ect) and for every event you do or champion you kill (stuff like that) you get some kind of token. Once you have a hefty amount (say, 2 hours of play) you get to open an instance which is personal. This could be really really difficult and tricky to finish – even with some kind of a guide you need to have a level of personal skill to pass. When you do, you get one component of a gift for making a legendary – and you’d have to do it 4 times, once for ascalon, maguuma, kryta, and the shiverpeaks.
Ultimately that’s a pipe dream, because it would be a lot of development time spent in something maybe 1% of players will ever care about, but kitten would it be nice. I would respect anyone with a legendary a lot more.

they would be revitalized, if they would be completely redesigned and be BALANCED.
Like 80% of the current dungeons are totally OP and way to overchallening, that you basically always have to die your way through them with countless annoying run backs.
OP enemies, that can wipe out the whole group within a single minute and such OP enemies come then also always most of the time as group, which is either same as big as your team or is even bigger with often no ways there to kite them >.>
There is a good reason, why most people do only FotM, CA and AC and the last 2 just basically with speedruns… because they are the only ones, that are “easy” enough to do without permanently dieing your way through and making at the end also real profit through them, where the other crap is just only a constant money waste due to the annoying repair system.
Dungeon needs a complete redesign, then they would be revitalized.
As they work now, you can see in Dungeons basically only 1 thing, what they mostly obviously are for Anet – one big single money sink.
if anet designed Dungeons to be only a stupid money sink, instead of beign something really fun to do, that has ANet really failed hard in dungeon design and that do they have to me.
Especially also too, because there are no other ways to receive the skinned items from the dungeons, except with grinding your a** off for dungeon tokens, where most of them even don’t look really good, but thats just a matter of taste and where the low level versions do look all the same …
Hello? Whats the reason at all to implement for all dungeons low level versions, when the crap does look for everything then the same with pirate skin ?
I really do hope, that this will get patched later and that the low level versions of the dungeon armory gets also their own skins!
They would most likely receive more attention, but not good attention. Legendaries already require a dungeon, but the difficulty varies per legendary. The way that I see it, they take small aspects of different parts of the game. For example, dungeon tokens, WvW badges, etc.
It is a fact that getting a legendary isn’t challenging, it is a feat of dedication and grinding. It just needs to be made more skillful and not focus too much on one part of the game, so that it isn’t catering to one group more than another.

Nah. Alot of paths for DM just get ran once and never again. Alot of people arent even going for legendary at this point in the game due to its cost.
