Here’s a list for DPS builds:

Hammer/GS DPS build, been running it for some time now
Boon Dispenser. Lv80 Guardian 15/25/0/20/10 Boom Dispenser – Lv80 Engineer 30/30/0/10/0
Chuck Thunderstruck – Lv 80 Ele 30/10/10/10/10
Are you sure you want to talk about these kind of facts here? You all are finding proof that will just make you mad in the end. It is sort of like learning about combo fields. If a player does not know much, but does what someone tells them to do to take advantage of finishers, then that player thinks its fun. If a team really figures out what combo fields favor, then they end up hating the gameplay. They stack one click behind the proc healer. They line up the edge of the water field on their party, and the condition field on the mob(s). They don’t move. It’s the most static boring combat ever. Everyone feels like a robot taking turns dropping fields, finisher, and slamming a banner. The game is ruined for them because they wanted to figure out how to maximize their strength.
Just let it go. Only trolls contend that the ele is not broken. Don’t feed the trolls.
There has been a recent change on the wiki for http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Triple_Chop
Now the total damage on the last hit is said to be 470 + 504 instead of the previous 858.
Can someone please confirm this is valid for me? This change boosts the chop chain c/s from 1.36 to 1.46, which is ridiculously high.
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
What do you mean by 470+504? As I see it, the triple chop attack damage on tooltip listed is 470+470+504.
Isn’t 470 the total damage from those two hits?

It’s displayed as 470 (x2), so if it follows the same rule that other skills do; it means 2×470 (i.e. each hit does 470)

Please don’t. :p

NVM, I went and double checked what I was thinking about and I was wrong. Yea, you’re right. It’s the total of the 2 :P
Was thinking back from when I was testing something with the 3rd auto on guardian sword; for some reason I thought it listed 63(x3), but it doesn’t

Am I wrong? Guardian 3rd auto attack is displayed like that and is accurate
Yeah what is inaccurate is the wiki

You caught me before I caught edit my post
Yea, it’s correct.
Yea, it’s correct.
This means that warrior’s axe auto is extremely high!
Total coefficient would be 5.26, over 3.6s, that is 1.46 per second … we are getting into figures comparable to 100b here

Yea.
Zelyhn/Haviz;
How does Axe auto attack compare to Greatsword auto attack, if you have to interrupt triple chop?
Hard to tell without proper animation frame counting
Total coefficient from GS chain: 2.3 (=2.53 if modified for relative weapon damage, but one less sigil compensates that)
Total coefficient from the first two attacks of Axe’s chain: 2.1
All you need is the animation time to evaluate, very likely the axe interrupted chain is faster
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
Just wanted to know how bad I should feel if I swap to axe, just to have to interrupt my AA chain. If I would have been better off just sitting on GS for a little bit more, so that I could guarantee a good Axe rotation.
What is the animation time on eviscerate?

As someone who has those weapons…
we already knew that… o.O
Yeah but then the highest dps achievable on warrior is with axe auto chain?
Retired elementalist theorycrafter

Yes, this was already so. Will be moreso after tomorrow.
Totally unrelated question but if a weapon skill does vulnerability. Is it applied before or after the hit?
Just wondering because I’m 27.65% confident that my first Greatsword AA did damage on Champion Shaman’s bubble (only damage from Vulnerability goes through).
That’s a precise amount of confidence.

Vulnerability is applied before the hit

Zelyhn.8069,
Are you sure about that? I run d/d ele always on the Shaman. Sometimes I see random single digit damage. Usually I see zeroes. Twice I have found a spot the allowed partial damage through. One step to the left or right and it would be zeroes again. I have not paid attention to whether vulnerability stacked during the bubble. I zone-out and let water #1 auto the Shaman to death while enjoying watching the antics of the other four team members scurrying about for survival.

You know that weapons generate a random number in their damage range for every attack, don’t you?

I will release an update of the alpha version of the Zalculator tomorrow after the patch.
One thing I have notice while watching the stream is that tooltips are still as inaccurate as they are now. This means that we are going to need a lot of data mining before I can make a proper rotation calculator. DEKeyzToChaos.7381 is doing an awesome job at frame-counting at the moment, for the elementalist. Are there people here willing to help with data mining for other classes?
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
Updated:
- Added more sigils, food, upgrade
- Removed out of combat stats for clarity
- Corrected minor bugs
Note that the weapon damage used by default has been adjusted to ascended level (1000 weapon damage on average). You can now have two sigils and bloodlust/perception stacks at the same time, check the numbers in orange for this.
The rotation tab looks like the computer screens in the matrix, it’s ok don’t worry just trust me. I have adjusted some rotations to the best of my knowledge. I need more data to be more accurate, if you are willing to do some data mining for a class please let me know.
Remember to hit me with any kind of feedback, this is still an alpha version and I am still uncertain about how to achieve what I want in the end, so all remarks are gladly accepted!
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
Can someone give me the exact rotation for guardian dps in a speedkill situation please?
Also, for elementalists we have this thread referencing our skill data. Do other classes have a source where I can find similar information?

(edited by Zelyhn.8069)
I personally use GS -> WW -> Symbol -> auto -> WW -> Sword -> auto until weapon switch is available -> GS. Might be wrong on that one, but that’s what I use.
Thanks, can you give me your build (with the name/numbers of trait choices) please?
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
How long is the animation of WW?
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
My pure dps build is 10 (II) / 30 (VI,X,XI) / 0 / 20 (II,VIII) / 10 (VI).
I don’t know exactly the animation of WW, but it’s in the round of 2.5-3 seconds. There are plenty of videos available, which you can time exactly I believe.
Oh yeah, and before the 2nd WW, I wait for the 3rd hit of the auto-attack (Wrathful Strike) to be given before actually activating WW.
(edited by Fror.2163)
Thanks!
You do three full auto attacks chains between symbol and WW then right?
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
I believe it’s three indeed but it might be four as I’m not traited for two-handed mastery.
Indeed, that’s right.
I think I have mapped most of the common builds. I am surprised that there are not many traits affecting direct damage output.
For a speedkill the rotation would be the same except with GS mastery?
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
This is for a speedkill. With Honor’s 2nd slot, you have either Empowering Might (VIII) or Two-Handed Mastery (IX). With this kind of rotation, I believe you lose too much if you take Two-Handed Mastery. You could try to put this in your calc and compare both actually, but that’s what I think.
Edit, maybe you should be more explicit with what you mean by a “speedkill”, as I gave you a build for dungeon speed-running, and it’s efficient at killing bosses quickly.
(edited by Fror.2163)
Also, I cannot download your calculator at work. Ever thought of putting it in Google Docs?

Yes empowering might is definitely better.
You take blind exposure in your build but don’t use any skills that apply blind in the rotation?
My calc gives me the following result for a speedkill with your build with full buffs (perception + sweet and spicy): 10k dps + burn
Does this sound correct to you?
I still have to fully recheck animation times.
Ok I will add it to docs if it is compatible, that’s a clever idea.
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
Well, in the pure rotation, no I don’t blind. But from time to time, I use Sword 2 and Focus 4 to avoid a hit for instance (and hoooo, some vuln stacks). So it’s a bit out of the rotation as I don’t play against a mannequin
Regarding the dps, I knew I was a bit over 9k, but 10 is possible, yes.
In a real gameplay you would use your blind/vuln skills on cool down. It is more valuable to dps test the rotations that people actually use rather than non-sense.
Zel, let me know if you need any help with classes other than ele. I’ll put it in my project queue.
Also, the sword/focus DPS guard is a popular variant (10/30/0/10/20 or 10/30/0/5/25), with a different rotation – mainly GS burst and then camp sword until GS burst is ready again.
Yes Keyz, actually I will need help with every single class
I want to make my calculator an easy-to-use tool for everyone to estimate his damaging potential.
This is why I am asking for help from the community.
You contributions are invaluable, I wish there were more people like you to support this project!
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
What are the kind of things you need to know? I can help with the necro.
It would be very much appreciated!
At the moment I am limiting my calculator to direct damage but I will expend it do conditions later on. For the necro I would need the details of the rotation for optimal direct damage in a speedkill situation. What I mean by this is the series of spell you would want to do if you were concerned only with damage. It has to be a repeatable loop. I need this in great detail: for each spell I need the coefficient on single targets, the animation time, the number of hits and any other relevant factor for direct damage. Then I add all relevant traits for direct damage in the calculator, but this is easy since most data is already available.
So if you can help me with
- details of rotation (and explanation of mechanics involved)
- details of spells involved
- most common traits to look at
I can then add the necro to my calcualtor in a matter of minutes
