this annoys me nearly every time im trying to find a group; wondered if it does anyone else…
i post in map chat ‘LFG dungeon mode’ and get someone whisper me saying ‘me too’ or ‘invite’… NO, im Looking For Group, not Looking For More, if you want to start a group then invite me, putting aside the fact that im crazy (and thus HATE starting a group) is takes less effort to invite someone than it does to whisper them
i know its irrational; but it makes my blood boil "/
You’re not the only one that it annoys.
LFG = Looking FOR a GROUP>
LFM/GLFM = Group looking for MORE.
Hopefully that clears it up for the numbskulls.
I have the same problem. each time I try looking for a group some idiot think im looking for more people.
There is a similarity and a difference.
The similarity is that both people are looking for other people to play with.
The difference is that people who type LFG are lazy and want everything done for them, and people who type LFM are the ones who are actually proactive and don’t let 5 people sit around typing LFG at the same time for half an hour.
Simply put, if you are looking for a group, maybe you should start one. I’m sure 4 other people would love you for it. And yes, sometimes YOUR time and YOUR effort is the time and effort that needs to be spent — not someone else’s. MMOs are not all about ME ME ME.
People like you annoy me more than the people who are just trying to help you.
I honestly don’t see why people need to type LFG. Players should either advertise that they need a spot in their group or wait until someone else is advertising that they need players in their group. Sometimes I see like ten people spam LFG and I’m scratching my head wondering why none of them are forming a group. Sometimes, there’s one player typing LFM and a few other players spamming LFG for a few minutes. Do they not see the opportunity to whisper or self invite?
Players who make groups should be the only ones advertising and players searching for groups should be inviting themselves to the group maker’s team to avoid a lot of crowded text on chat. A player spamming LFG is the equivalent of walking in the middle of a mall food court and saying “Looking for food!”. You’re more likely to get food if you stand in line for the food you want, correct? Typically, if you’re in the food court, you, like many of the people around you, want food, too. When it comes to grouping, why not just wait for someone to advertise a group or start your own? A person starting a group is more useful than a bunch of people who want to join a group. They’re creating the one thing everyone wants, even if they start alone. If you don’t post for unnecessary attention, you won’t find those “weirdos” pm’ing you that they want to join your group. Am I wrong?
Sorry if I sounded harsh there, but I think the problem exists from just posting LFG in the first place. Posting text draws attention from a crowd that does not always follow what many of us think is “standard”. Of course, sometimes you have a valid reason to post LFG such as having a lack of experience with the dungeon, but it may be better to just wait around until someone posts LFM.

i hate starting a group as i hate feeling resposible for wasting peoples time if it falls apart (again; irrational as i dont blame other people if they start a group and it falls apart – id guess it has something to do with being autistic), not that i dont form teams if i see people want the same thing as me; my annoyance stems from people who lack the intuition to be able to start a team themselves and instead (effectively) ask others (me) to start it for them.
i sense theres been some miscommunication, either i havent put my point across accurately or you havent bothered interpreting it shrug

again; im not opposed to starting a group myself (especially if ’ I see like ten people spam LFG’), although i do dislike it
(see above)
TL;DR im not adamantly opposed to starting teams, but loathe people telling me to invite them when im LFG (indicating singular; meaning they could just invite me instead of whispering me to invite them)
okay i get it. it reminds me of aol chatrooms back in the 90s. you talk for a while, you hit it off in the main room, then you want to take it private, and next part of the conversation goes something like this: “im me” “no, you im me” “no, you im me” “no, you im me” “no, you im me” im stands for instant message by the way. that was before webcams existed. that was before you could stream a movie. it was when 640 × 480 was a really good resolution for games. and there were disks that held 1.44 Mb
but i digress
if you start a group, you’re not responsible for it. you don’t control what 5 people do.
and my vitriol was not meant for op. it was meant for the people calling others “idiots” and “numbskulls”
Here’s my take on it, I saw a post about this a while ago.
Nobody wants the weight of starting a group, so never advertise “LFG”
Always advertise “LFM” because that implies you’ve got people and need more, or are looking to join a group who already has more.
LFM gets the most replies.

Not always. If I’m LFG, it’s because I don’t know the dungeon path in question and want to join a group with a leader that has more experience with it than I do. That’s how people learn.
Try being a bit nicer when posting? That one was pretty nasty and thoughtless. No offense.

Okay I can appreciate your line of thought. Let’s say you opened my mind a little.
But like I said, my vitriol was aimed at the people who were name-calling. So I’d like to think my post was nasty and thoughtful at the same time. And I still stand by it too. The vast majority of people who spam LFG don’t want to take initiative. You know how I know that? I know that because I get tired and lazy sometimes and want things done for me too. I spam LFG and it takes forever to find a group. But when I make the effort to form a group and get people together, it only takes a few minutes.
I’ve been on both sides. And it’s given me an accurate perspective. If you’re the exception, and you know it, then don’t take offense either, cause it wasn’t meant for you.
If I say “LFG”, it means I currently am alone, but desire to do the mentioned content. If I see others saying “LFG”, I invite them and then switch to “LFM”
If I say “LFM”, then I have at least one other and now we are looking to fill out the party.
Pretty sure this is what 95%+ of the people do.
My favorite is from yesterday. I was LFG for something and someone whispered me asking if I had a group.
I did a test. First I said LFG xxx and didn’t get any tells. Then I said LF4M xxx and instantly got 4 people.
Point is, if you’re LFG and 1 more person joins you, it’s so much easier to get 3 more people.

I’m LFG because I’m doing something else, figure it will take X Minutes for the group to finish up.
If I’m LFG, it means I don’t have time to sit around for 30 minutes coordinating a group. If I did, I’d LFM.
if you want to join a group that already has 4 in it, just wait for a lf1m
I saw someone that was glfg…

again; not the point i was trying to make, please read the replies as i feel i appropriately explained in there

now im playing a lot arah, and most of the people that plays arah are LFG people, i dont understand why you get mad with people that whisper to invite when you put LFG, you can´t be that lazy to not create a dungeon group………..
I only can understand that you get a little mad when you are LFG but you dont know the path. also why do you even put LFG, just w8 to see a LFM post in the lfg page and you avoid all the “problems”.

i know its irrational, if i see someone else ‘LFG’ (and im not semi afk – normally on my kindle) ill invite them, its when someone sees me LFG (they havent posted anything in map chat; atleast… since ive been in that area) and whisper me to invite them, when they couldve invited me for less (although still trivial) effort
I hate people like you op. If you want to run the dungeon, start a kittening group. I will be bored sometimes in LA and see a LFG and I decid sure I will run that place.
kitten anyone that is to lazy to start a group. You don’t deserve to run a dungeon.

PLEASE read the thread; im not too lazy to start a group -_-, i often end up starting groups because people whisper ‘invite me’ when im ‘LFG’ (meaning im on my own – and they could just invite me for much less effort instead of passing the baton to me)
the whole point of this thread was so that people would understand LFG = singular, dont whisper them to ‘invite you’, invite them
LFM = 2+ (or one; whos being crafty xD) whisper them to ‘invite me’, or even better (unless stated otherwise) /join them
-edit-
i think you’re all getting confused by me stating that i hate starting groups, this is true, but that doesnt mean i outright refuse to do it, i hate going out of my room (i hate being in the same room as people -including my family, except my dog) that doesnt mean i stay here all day; as then id never get anything done

So much wasted time in this thread, could have typed /join ‘nickname’ or /invite ‘nickname’ hundreds of times instead, not worrying about it.

Instead of complaining about the post, try learning to read. You’ll have a better time if you invite people who are LFG, rather than whispering them and having them ignore you.
If you can’t even be bothered to read three letters, why should I expect that you’ll be able to follow directions in the dungeon?
Like, in all honesty, do you people get mad about something like this? In a game?
