level account bound in Fractals ?
The reason progress is character bound is to promote the design philosophy behind the game. This includes: no grind; letting the player have fun; letting the player play the way they want to.
It’s quite obvious actually.

So supposing I have a character at level 10, but now I want to use another class for fractals. It means I’d have to start from 1 again and grind my way back up to 10.
That isn’t game philosophy. That’s just hassle for no reason.
No friend, you should go back and look at their MMO manifesto, and their blog posts, it will all become clear then.
Being able to access difficulty 10 because you reached it on another character would be a grind, it would also not allow you to play the game the way you want, and it would not let you have fun.
Quite obvious.

Mate, it was quite obvious what he did there. And I wholeheartedly agree with him.

What a troll … again .. sarcasm for the win ey ?
And yes fractal difficulty is soulbound so you are not able to run difficulty 20 with your alt which has no gear, etc.

Maybe our alt got a gear? Ever occured to you it’s quite possible, no?
Maybe your alt has gear… BUT DOES HE HAVE GEAR? There’s an easy way to prove it… Just do fractal runs 1-10. It’s easy.
Now, the real problem is that some of these scrub player scum, have managed to leech their way to levels 10+ , and now there is no way to check if their gear is ascended. I mean you can ask them to link it but they can cheat by pasting the links of the database sites. What they REALLY need to implements is some kind of scoring system based on their gear… they can call it “ScoreGear”.
The whole level design is also giving me trouble when it comes to playing with my friends. They create the game with downscaling to allow us to play with our friends, but in three months after launch they scrapped that and invented a way that makes even max level people unable to play with their friends. Too often I see my guild reject playing with certain other guildies because they aren’t on the same fractal difficulty levels.
It’s a way of gating content and slowing players down, if you are capable of level 10, of course you are capable of level 1, but you need to grind through it anyway. As much as I like people having access to this content without it being too difficult or elite, the level scaling needs to be looked at, especially when playing alts.

If gear is so importent, why are lv1’s upscaled to lv80 and can run it just fine?
This not being acount bound is silly, there is no good reason whatsoever for it and i consider it a simple oversight. Right up there with not being able to rejoin, inability to run this dungeon cross-instance (all have to be in the same (overflow) server) and other sillyness.
I expect this will eventually be fixed so it will be acount wide.

Protip, if you have a lv 1-79 in your group. You are carrying them. Being scaled up does not mean they have the trait points or skill unlocks.
Protip, if you have a banana in your group, you are carrying it. Being a fruit does not mean they can press the proper buttons. Same with vegetables.
If there is scaling in there, it’s because it was added INTENTIONALLY.

Read/posted early hours of the morning my time, never noticed the sarcasm aha
Four months later and it still is not account wide.

Well theres no need for account bound now, you can already get in a lvl20 party with a lvl1 character

One of the reasons I don’t do FotM any more (aside from hating the grind for rings) is because I can only get the rewards I want on three of my toons. If I want rings (the only reason I do FotM any more) I have to play lvl 10 or higher, but to do that I have to play through at least 30 fractals before I start getting any rewards.
If they made it account bound I could get to level 10 on any of my characters and play for the rings equally across all my characters. Despite the current design being a massive inconvenience and showing short sightedness when it comes to alts, it’s consistent with ArenaNet’s current design philosophy which kills off the viability and freedom to play alts by enforcing nonsensical grind on them.
If I want to play my ele in fractals I can’t get rings. If I want rings, I can’t play my ele. It’s silly and pointless and it gets worse the more level 80s you have.
