I was under the impression that to get her to do that you had to let her die at the beginning, so she doesn’t do it naturally.

Arietta, do you want me to edit(delte) the OP? I really dont care one way or the other.
I think some of my guildmates tried to do that when I was listening in on their dungeon group.
Regardless Arietta its been reported numerous times already so if anything they know very well about this type of “tactic”.
On this note, they also fixed fall damage in uncategorized, so it seems likely.

Did they fix any of the following things about the cannon phase?
1) Camera randomly going into ceiling and killing you
2) AoE circles most unreliable in the entire game
3) Timing from circle drawn to damage impact highly variable (maybe this is actually a “feature”, but it’s a stupid one IMO)
4) Cannon phase gets progressively longer. Definitely a feature, but… making time gates a bit longer for no reason? kitten that kitten.

So agree with number 5. For what tends to be a fight i actually enjoy, the canon phase is seriously the worst designed content i’ve seen in a while. Today I died because i forgot aoe circles sometimes don’t show up on walls/that rock thing and will kill you through horizontal damage qq.
They should just get rid of the cannon phase completely and make her shield stacks regenerate so you’d have to keep pulling her into the lightning AoEs. And as you get to higher levels her shield regen gets faster thus more difficult.
The whole cannon phase is stupid because of the reasons mentioned earlier and because it’s incredibly frustrating for anyone with colorblindness. At the very least they could fix the AoEs to be similar what we’ve seen in the new LS and open world bosses so it would be easier to differentiate from the shiny floor.
I actually like the cannon phase, at least in theory. It’s fun when it goes well. When you get hit in the head because your in between a few circles and you jus thappen to be in the path of the projectiles… screw that.
Instead of the totally unnecessary cannon phase she could just regain her captain’s shield at every 25% hp lost but no, we need this “fun” mechanic where you have to avoid bugged aoe circles artificially increasing the time taken to finish the boss fight.
These dumb bosses that just go through their 75%, 50%, 25% hp cycle are really boring. Why not make bosses that behave differently based on what players do? For example: put down a reflect > boss does not use projectiles but some other skill instead. Or bosses/mobs that rip boons, use reflects, get out of AoE, have their own dodges, blind…

Everytime I see my guildmates shadow refuge to get cannons off of them I immediately sprint over to them in spite for putting more work onto my plate..

well, sometimes I wonder if Anet will add and environment item to gain stealth for the cannon phase.

The problem is that when only the thf hides, it’s 4 ppl going, “Hey, why am I getting targetted more often?” And in a PUG, oft times that turns into 3, then sometimes 2…
This is not to say that on the rare occasion I go thief, that I don’t do this. >.> But only if I dislike the people in the group… XD
