We have a “most used skill” thread, I figure, why not a most useless skill thread? So what’s the most useless skill you can think of? Why does it trump all others in wasted space?

I’m sitting here looking at my Engi’s skills wondering which one I don’t use… well, Most useless one is “Summon Power Suit” the rest I’ve used in different situations That one just for the LOLs.

Antitoxin spray! Only use it to rofl copter.

I actually use that heal skill for my condi build at Triple Trouble for killing husks, mainly for the Aristocracy rune + Signet Mastery synergy though

Yeah its the might from a trait and runeset which makes it worth taking. The fact that its a signet is its only use. The skill itself is totally trash.

A passive which doesnt provide any sustain because it heals when you are hit. So its just a weak damage reduction. But on top of that they slapped an ICD on it because obviously damage reduction with no ICD is op! And then signet passives dont work in DS so you cant even try and use the one thing that might make the passive ok. And even if signet passives did work in DS you cannot heal in DS so it doesnt work anyway. Then the active is just pathetic for healing and the ICD prevents you from using all 25 stacks for yourself.

tl;dr
ICD’s everywhere! ICD’s piled on ICD’s to make a bad skill even worse.

Most useless skill imo until the dungeon forum tells me a good use for that is the ranger’s Storm Spirit.
In fact all the Spirits are useless, if you can just take a warrior with you instead.
Banners don’t have a health bar or shenanigans like “the chance to trigger the effect” attached to them.

Bear Form = Thaumanova Heat room
Leopard Form = Stealth

Technobabble = nice stun
Radiation Field = Weakness (not shabby in fractals honestly, rare use but I’ve tried it and respect it)
D Golem = Old Tom in Harpy, and anywhere an earth Ele would be useful

Grasping Roots = anywhere immob is useful, notably Ooze in Thaumanova or Tar in Arah1
Seed Turret = Solo Arah2? Haven’t tried but Brie has uses for Turrets in general, should be useable?
Take Root = Same as Seed maybe?

Reaper of Grenth = if you have a poor elite and chill would be nice.

All Summoned Pets for Lupi solos to absorb the grub or bait out more reflect projectiles.

There are niche uses.

The main reason I classify then as useless is due to either their ridiculously long cooldown times, or the fact that there’s a class skill that does something similar, but much better.

I have a whole thread about how I want the racial skills to be more important and rebalanced to make them useful in many situations and not just once in a blue moon.

Hmmm. I’m hearing Signet of Vampirism in the lead so far as most useless, unless Derenek has an argument for some of the racials as to why they’d be even less useful.

What if we opened it up a bit more?

Are there any traits or weapon skills that are less useful, or perhaps so bad that they potentially sabotage yourself or your party when equipped?

The Norn owl attack skill. It does almost no damage from bleeding, gains no bonuses from any traits, and nearly every class based bleed skill is superior... lol

All the Race based summoning skills share the same types of weaknesses. Even though they fill an Elite skill slot, The summoned creature does equivalent damage to the non-elite elementalist summoning skill. They stay out for a shorter period of time than class based summons, and have nearly twice the cool down period of any other elite skill.
Equipping those skills may as well cripples any character that uses them.

glue shot, not that i’m suggesting off hand pistol should ever be used in dungeons, just saying that skill is terrible. glue bomb is superior in every way if you need an AOE immob for something. usually you just need single target, which net shot is much better for.

But they can be used for multiple situations. D golem is great on Old Tom, any sumon can eat the grub in the transition on Lupi, any summon can have more projectiles for reflects. There are uses. And the cooldowns are much less than Fire Elemental Powder

I’m having a really hard time trying to think of any use for Polymorph Moa in dungeons xD

Disenchanter is good. I used to use that all the time in CoE for the golem. Its good for any boon fight really. Just not many of those. Old mimic was best mimic.

Water…water…there was something with water, that i can…OF COURSE.

Forget my Storm Spirit, “Water Spirit” sure is by far the most useless skill that i happen to have access to.

I keep forgetting that i have it. Never seen it being used by another ranger anywhere ever. Open world PvE? Nope. WvW? Nopydopy. PvP? Nah.
And i most definitely never seen it in dungeons.

For ele I would say it is conjure flame axe and armor of earth.

Armor of Earth is wonderful and far from being useless.

Anywhere that I don’t get spoonfed with Stability by my teammate. For once, the laser merry-go-round part in Fractals. In open world, Vine Wrath, in sPvP and in WvW.

Water spirit.
Bad for the party but good as a cc… and for trolling: Fear.

Seriously, what the hell. Water spirit. Seriously. What. The. Hell. 10. Seconds. ICD. And… and. Heal with like… 3s cast total.

I remember the stream with the devs. Pathetic.

Aside from cultural skills, I would have a hard time choosing one of these:

Litany of Wrath
Bow of Truth
Shield skills
Tome of Courage

All others I can find a niche use for.

I got niche uses for the tome, the shield and the litany.
Guard’s just that good. All weapons are viab—-neeeevermind, that gonna change with HoT. Let’s butcher the number of viable combos for everyone, the system wasn’t simplified enough before!

Bear f2 is good on Mai Trin.
