msg to Instance Starters
Does it really matter though?
As long as people are not leaving/changing characters (exploiting) and such the one starting the instance is completely useless information.

people were informed beforehand of char switch
Doesn’t make it less of an exploit though.

are we arguing the validity of “exploits” in dungeons? becuase im not, the discussion is moot. go be a crusader somewhere else. “omg u cheated asdfgh!!!11oneoneone”
im here to remind people to take a conscious effort to remember who started the dungeon as to not waste anybody’s time, including their own
And yet “remembering who started the dungeon” is not an issue unless you are planning on exploiting.

Did you start the instance? You know that it wasn’t you. Great! You know that you can switch if needed. No problems there.
now the real question is – why do you want to know who exactly opened it? Do you want to kick a bunch of people?
Not telling that you opened the run can be a troll safety net, because now every time someone will think of kicking they’ll be essentially playing a Russian roulette.

because we all agreed at the beginning some people were switching.
none of us were in the same guild.
we got through the dungeon smoothly without a problem.
instance starter switched characters at the end, we all lost our progress. horray.
essentially he forgot, and this situation has happened a lot.
I’m not asking people to announce “i started the dungeon”, rather remember that they did so they don’t screw up in the end and screw everyone else in the party

again, argument moot. start a thread if you want to discuss it
again, argument moot. start a thread if you want to discuss it
And this whole situation is moot since it is a call out about people not helping you exploit.

Situation has value since the the whole party’s time was wasted including the dungeon starter, and time is valuable. If people remember this simple matter then no one wastes their time.
please google “moot” before using it in a sentence.

The situation has no value since it would only be useful when exploiting, which is not allowed.

This is the first time I see people regard switching characters as an exploit.

lol goodluck with your little crusade
This should be a thread kittening at Anet for a stupid dungeon instance system.
People will always be dumb and forgetful.

Rather than arguing over something like if character switching is an exploit (which it isn’t in may situations, and is probably only being regarded as such in this thread because it can be utilized in an exploitative manner for a meaningless achievement), we should simply look at what people should take note of before they start the instance for the group.
If you start the instance…
- Try to actually have the time to complete the instance/don’t be on call.
- Try to be more patient with wipes, if you leave everyone fails.
- Don’t alt switch at the end for the leveling experience.
Though I doubt this thread will help because as Hamartia posted “people are dumb and forgetful.”

The instance starter dced and never came back.. 5 minutes after he dced the group decided to votekick the offline guy oblivious to the fact that he started the instance.. and we were close to the end of the run..
This is honestly getting frustrating when this kind of thing happens. Anet needs to fix this dumb instance starter bull.
And yet “remembering who started the dungeon” is not an issue unless you are planning on exploiting.
A person might need to switch character to bring in a more effective profession for a particular boss and such, not just to exploit, so you’re just making noise or speaking without think.
I perfectly agree with the OP.

Since when is swapping characters exploiting?…

Anything that offends people automatically = exploits. Didn’t you know!

Since when is swapping characters exploiting?…
This thread was created around the time this thread was getting a lot of attention:
Because of that, many of the early posters assumed that he was writing this because someone messed up his attempt to exploit the “Personal Space” achievement. However, the actual act of character switching isn’t an exploit, it’s simply that people assumed he was using it for an exploit (whether it is an exploit or not isn’t what I’m arguing I’m simply answering why people in this thread might consider switching exploitative).

I understand the confusion but just to clarify things, i don’t do “achievements”
