new trait system dungeon issue
Why?
Do you seriously have to ask ?
swapping one trait for another within your build is fine, but resetting your build completely kind of takes away from what little challenge the game has to offer at this point.
But most people hop into dungeons with weird/subpar builds to begin with anyhow :/

Exactly. Now they will have 1 minute to change before i kick them.
It just saves everyone the hassle of hopping out and back into dungeons for re-traiting. I don’t see a sane reason for why it should be restricted in instance. Dungeons are already easy as they are currently.
I think most of us are really looking forward to this change. It affords people in the high end to really analyse things and change it up for some interesting combinations.
I would love to have free re-traiting in fractals.
do you know why it is not allowed in sPVP ?
exactly !!!
that’s why full reset should not be allowed in instances.
I mean come on seriously, what is the point of running a build than ?
I hate to do this but….
remember gw1 ? you can reset your build in towns but not when you go out into the explorable world, why did they do that ?
think use your neurons !
because simply swapping your entire build in the middle of a dungeon negates any small challenge the dungeon might have presented.
example
oh crap, I forgot to trait for CC on condi removal, now you’d have to either tough it out or exit retrait and comeback.
if you’re allowed to simply reset your entire build in dungeons while ooc you’d simply go into a corner reset and retrait, negating the little challenge the dungeon might have presented.
I’m 100% against the ability to simply reset your entire build inside a dungeon.

Look at all those bold letters someone’s jimmies are seriously rustled.
If the feature isn’t allowed in dungeons for some reason, people will just port out. But currently i can’t even name one dungeon where you need to retrait.
:S I never feel the need to retrait inside a dungeon tbh. I welcome the change since it’s getting old that I have to waypoint to retrait every time I wanna do some fractals.
But currently i can’t even name one dungeon where you need to retrait.
The only thing I can think of is if you wanna solo the corrosive lights as a warrior.
For an ele, to switch between Fresh Air and Staff builds in FotM. For dungeons, only min-maxing matters, even with a sub-optimal build, dungeons are still very easy, without the need to retrait.
Another fair example is pugging Arah then realizing that the pug is bad and you end up solo or duo Lupi without Vigor on crit. It can be painful for eles, but still feasible without the need to retrait.
Indirect buff to celestial trololol

PUGs/groups with multiples of one profession
“Hey dummies! I’ve said I already have [insert trait buffed ability(s) here] covered already, so you can stop spamming them and change to something more productive! …..OK! Nvm…”
I dunno a bout you guys, but i plan to abuse the ever loving tar out of this system… well it’s not abuse, they’re condoning it, if it actually lets you trait in dungeon. max vuln zerker w/ frenzy for trash mobs, then back to a normal build for bosses etc. I feel bad for all the people that worked really hard to set speed run records though, they’re about to all be be obliterated by groups with re-trait macros next to their armor swap macros.
You are aware that those people will still be the ones who set the new records, right?
The reason it is not allowed in sPvP is that people would constantly counter each other over and over again until sPvP is all about being able to swap your traits faster than your enemies. Besides, once you enter a sPvP match, you can’t leave without penalty. This is not the case in PvE.
In PvE you can exit your dungeon and hop back in as often you like. A restriction such as the one OP is… vehemently suggesting would be unnecessarily tedious, as people could simply exit the dungeon to reset and rearrange their traits, the loading screens and their teammates’ patience being the only limitation on the way. This would not hurt organised groups in any way, shape or form because they’d understand what is happening and why, whereas it would severely affect more casual players due to the chaotic nature of some PuGs.
I hope these points I have exposed reach the OP, so that he may be more at ease with the current situation, instead of feeling that there’s a imbalance or an injustice between PvP and PvE.
It opens up some doors for us to play around with to beat our own dungeon records

You’d probably have to use endurance food besides vigor for guardians given the nerf.
If retraiting inside dungeons must not be allowed then players who leave the instance should not be allowed to come back in either. Otherwise you could just leave the instance, retrait and come back in like we have been able to do thus far.
Personally I do think this feature would make the game too easy to a point where it could arguably be considered cheating. However, this feature has always existed. The only difference is that now the instance owner will be able to retrait as well without getting him/herself and their team kicked out of the instance.
you can exit dungeons as an instance owner and it won’t destroy the instance. you just can’t switch characters.

You forgot to answer that question. How is this related to PvE encounters again?

So you mean I’ll have to run to run out of the dungeon instead of logging out and back in? Cool, never knew that.
You can log out and back in. Just don’t log in with a different character.
This would be great cause if u have 2 fury ele’s or 2 hammer guards it would be so easy to just quickly swap builds. Now if they do not allow it in dungeons, only arah p2 would be an option to log in and out (after lupi) this is if your go for a speed record otherwise the time it takes will not shorten the run

you cannot exit the instance during a record run though.
You probably wouldnt retrait in a record run even if you could. They are very rushed and the only dungeons you probably have time to retrait is skipping sections in arah.

pray for trait templates… coming in a few years’ time!
but seriously, it would make so much sense with the free retraiting out of combat.

They need a few feature for the next pack too ya know.

This, for pugging this will be a very nice addition. It’s not worth porting back and forth to retrait for a single path in the average pug, but after the update you can. I mainly play Guardian and Elementalist, though I enjoy every class and it’s always a shame if you have about a minute of Fury leftover since Persisting simply isn’t needed for that group. Or swap to Sw/F even though your build is for Hammer, in Guardians case. Engineer/Necromancer aswell if you build focusses on stacking most of the Vulnerability, though I don’t play these enough to judge. Or Warrior/Ranger with Empower Allies and Spotter. I don’t even run Empower Allies anymore since usually someone else already has it.
In SC I’d love to know when it would be worth the time to respec, though surely there are some situations and in casual dungeoneering. How many of you would respec for a certain fight? I mean respec, not just swap some traits around, which we already can. This is curiousity by the way, because I fail to see how this system will change much.
If you are worried about PvE becoming any more easier, don’t. There’s no way PvE can become easier than it is right now.
