newbie question about dungeons vs soloing.
All of the dungeons are level appropriate ..
Ascalonian Catacombs is level 30 story / level 35 explorable
Caudicus’ Manor is level 40 story/ level 45 explorable
Twilight Arbour is level 50 story/ level 55 explorable
Sorrow’s Embrace is level 60 story/ level 65 explorable
Citadel of Flame is level 70 story/ level 75 explorable
Honor of the Waves I believe is 75/ 77
Crucible of Eternity & Arah are level 80
The problem is, most groups want 80’s because 80’s are more often than not in exotics and have all their trait points. Even though you get downscaled for a lower dungeon you still keep your trait points/ skills etc so that makes the run go faster (in theory at least, doesn’t always pan out like that in PuG’s lol). The result is players who are the right level for the dungeon tend to get pushed to one side and left out.
I personally have no problem doing dungeons with players who are the right level for them, yes it takes longer but I don’t see myself as so pushed for time I cant spend an extra 20 minutes in one or insist on skipping half the content.
There are a lot of others with the same attitude, but unfortunately there are also a lot of players who will insist on full groups of 80’s to do a level 35 dungeon as well.
It’s not that the low level ones are too hard unless you are 80, its more of a case of you get used to running ez mode when you are 80.
My advice is when you want to do a dungeon, add your level to your lfg message or post on gw2lfg.com and make a point of putting your level in the comment section, that way people can’t complain you aren’t 80 once you are in the group.
Just to add another voice, what Nashaan said is very true. I don’t mind if you’re under the recommended level for a dungeon, as long as you’re within a reasonable tolerance I’ll accept you. My elementalist did AC explorable for the first time at 33, and we rocked the place.
Fractals recently stole a lot of the usual dungeon crowd, so finding groups can be difficult. The good news is that you can run fractals at any level.
You will always find people who insist on all 80s for a group, or particular builds, or anything else. The simple truth is there are people out there that are jerks and you can’t avoid them all.
I joined an AC Explorable group on my 34 elementalist to be greeted by one member proclaiming “too low.” I attemtped to explain that if my level is an issue, i can switch to my 80 guardian, but he didn’t seem to get it, his response was “you have an 80? good for you. you’re still too low.” This is obviously an extreme case, but there are people like that out there—put them on ignore and move on.
Feel free to look me up for one more for a dungeon—I can’t always guarantee the time, but my wife (ranger) and I are more than willing to run dungeons, and we don’t care about your level so much as we care about your attitude (positive, friendly attitude is worth more to us than anything else).

doh, I was really hoping to avoid the “elite” types who try to pigeon hole everyone into a role and spec… ahh well. Glad to know that there are actual dungeons designed for my level. Now to get started learning how to play in a group…
