Hey guys, ive been playing for over 2months now, an hr or 2 each night and ive a level 78 thief.

In all that time leveling ive only entered a dungeon twice, and both times its been ascalon catacombs. 1st time epic fail, 2nd time completed

Ive spent time exploring to get access to most of the dungeons and i can be waiting outside for 20mins at a time with no one around and ive tried guesting on other servers, this is pretty dire dont you think, im not in a guild because i stupidly joined the german server at the start. Has anyone else noticed a lack of dungeon activity

Nobody actually stands outside of dungeons looking for a group, they either use mapchat or gw2lfg.com/.net, theres no point waiting for a group doing nothing if you can just continue your activities.

In lieu of that there’s usually a mob of people in LA who would do a dungeon out of sheer boredom. They’re the legendary wielders that you can feed to mobs as cannon fodder.

But there’s also Farmvillion going & the Ember Abuse and don’t forget the Frost gourge kitten cicle… so it also stands to reason there’s less people doing most other things right now b/c they don’t want to get left behind

If you want to do more Dungeons join a Dungeon Guild. There are a few of them on every server. Though I will agree that all the farming going on now has slowed down the amount of Dungeons being run. But a lot of Dungeon guilds are now doing a daily Dungeon farming run, AC P1 + P3, CoF P1 + P2, CoE all paths. Usually takes about 2hrs with a good group and you make good money. Its just not a lucrative as the farming train that is currently going on….

I said a good group as in with the average player. We actually do it in about an hour, but not everyone can do that. And if you look at the OP, I am pretty sure he is Pugging his runs, and is not very experienced in dungeons (since he stated in 2 months he has gone twice), which makes 2 hrs more realistic. When replying to a thread like this you are more helpful to give good advice for the average player, rather than telling them to L2P cause they can’t complete fast Dungeon speed runs.

And AC P2 is still buggy and is not worth the time/hassle in case it bugs out. You can take that 10 min and farm elsewhere for equal gain.

Use lfg you can still get a cof run ever 2mins. So i don’t know what you are talking about.

Even without merch breaks, and doing all paths back to back, that would be about 70 minutes, assuming almost ideal times (AC p1 ~ 9 min + AC p3 ~10 min + CoF p1 ~ 6 mins + CoF p2 ~ 9 mins + CoE p1 ~11 min + CoE p2 ~ 13 min + CoE p3 ~ 12 min). All those times can be a little bit faster if you do perfect runs, but let’s assume you don’t do perfect runs… Including screwups and merch breaks, waiting for people etc, anything under 1h20 would be impressive.

can still so multiple run of cof for exp i thought that is wast post is about. Alsa gold you get for that many runs is much more then you ever got from cof in same amount of time so what is your point. you get more g/hour then you did soley farming one path no matter how you cut it. what I don’t like is how they say AC is harder then Coe or hotw by having the gold drop be higer i think that is a joke.

Times are anywhere between 65 min and 75 min if you want to get exact. Again you are missing the point… This is a newer player that is inexperienced, so giving helpful and realistic advice is of more use to them. Why everyone feels the need to compare sword size in this forum lately really shows a lack of respect in our community, and makes most of these threads useless…. Some people still play this game for fun, and some people do not feel the need to upload videos to show how good they are. Or maybe I am just old shool….

Original post is about him trying to find Dungeon runs and having issues, before the thread was hijacked.

New to Dungeons Thread - Is a good place to start if you want to learn about dungeons. However you are on a EU server and I do not know of any guilds that are doing that over there currently.

Joining a guild is your best bet at finding people to help you learn dungeons and to find some friends to do stuff with. As well as giving you access to guild missions and a host of other bonuses.

While you hold a very valid case, I found running pugs perfectly fine w/o any issue since day 1. Ironically I’ve had the most issues ever running dungeons with the guild I’ve joined than any pug I’ve yet to have. I think the key to my success with pugs is I always initiate conversation, giving warm welcomes and keeping the mood light (not trying to demand things from people). That tactic has worked for me completing 5 of the dungeons, running hotw and Coe countless times for the armor, farming cof 1 for perhaps a handful of times (wasn’t a fan), and even fotm through lvl 18/daily lvl 10. Another key thing is I’m 100% honest and detailed in my lfg posts, if I said “casual cof farm all welcome but know what you’re doing” I got groups of people who did not expect flawless runs but knew how to run them effectively.

Connecting this back to topic… gw2lfg.com has proven to be the best method for dungeon running for me since I got the game 3 months ago. This was my very “real” first mmo experience (but not gaming by farrrrrrr) and all I can say is I’m glad I heard about the lfg through lion’s arch’s chat. I’ve on average been able to get a group together in 5-10 minutes too, sometimes in seconds. Imho lfg is the way to go unless you can find a guild that can take dungeon runs a bit more seriously and not jerk around being silly -.-

I wouldn’t say the only remaining dungeon running guilds are elitist, my guild is far from it and there’s a few groups running dungeons almost every night. Unfortunately the only way to know is to join and give them some time to show you what kind of guild they are.

Of course dungeon guilds are elitists, they want good players. And yet when you get PvP or WvW guilds demanding you meet a certain criteria they don’t seem to get the same shtick.

Dungeon guilds need to be picky about entrants. The reason people join dungeon guilds is for fast, smooth runs. If they let anyone in, the quality of the runs will be compromised. Then the best players will leave until they find what they’re looking for.

I wouldn’t call the top tier dungeon guilds elitist, just elite.

It’s already extremely annoying to run dungeons. The dungeon opener (still) can kick everybody by just leaving. It takes way to many runs for a full set of armor. And now you can’t even do this in a few days, but must do this on a daily routine. I guess it is Anets plan. Do it daily, not to fast. You are forced to play inefficient or in a long run. Guild Wars daily grind gets really annoying.

You only cop elitist attitude if you are running a build that has long since been proven to be bad, e.g anything not clad in Berserker gear (or you’re a terrible player or start fights/don’t listen etc, etc). And really if you want to be apart of a dungeon running community then why wouldn’t you want to be the best you can be to help your team as much as you can?
When I see someone running around in PVT gear, or using terrible weapon and utility choices, all I see is how much that person isn’t contributing as much as they should be. And if expecting a member of the party to contribute their fair share is considered ‘elitism’, then hell I guess that makes me elitist too.

The one expectation I have of people on this forum is for them not to be completely dense, so when they are I react. In the game itself I just assume most people are braindead so I ignore it most of the time.
