It has to do with whoever entered the dungeon and started the instance, not whoever started the party.

I would guess that maybe you were the first to enter the dungeon and the instance belonged to you.

Agree with Mad Rasputin. It matters who starts the instance not the party.
I’ve done it before in the past opening a dungeon with an alt that has story done then switching. Doesn’t work.

As has been said, only the instance owner cannot swap or leave.
