My friend sais that he does the same paths of a dungeon on different characters and still get full rewards (60 tokens) aslong that he does a different path in between. (bad english i know)

example: necromancer does path 1 then path 2 of CoF dungeon, then does path 1 again but on his guardian ( he said he gets full reward with his guardian).
now i tried that today but i received 30 tokens on my second character.

now my question is:
is it because i did the runs to fast after each other (like can you do it in morning with 1 character and evening with other character)
or
is it because the dungeon rewards are account bound?

Sorry Kumakichi, but that is not accurate.

There is a account DR, but it’s more complex than that:

Toon X does CoF path 1 and 2 – 60 tokens every time
Now immediately switch to toon Y and do the same, you’ll be hit by DR because you repeated the same path too rapidly.

Wait 2-3 hours then do the path on toon Y – you’ll get normal rewards.

My strategy is to do my runs early evening with toon X, then switch to Y and do more.

Always leave a good 2 hours between repeating the same path, on different toons.

Yes, you will get 60 tokens every time if you wait for your second “set”.

You will also encouter a DR if you do too many dungeon runs too rapidly. however you will get 45 tokens for hitting the “tooo many paths too rapidly DR”

The “same path too rpaidly DR” simply halves the tokens. 60, then 30, then 20 for all otehr runs.

Sorry PowerCat, but that is not accurate. Kumakichi is correct. It’s probably bugged at the moment but soon™ it might be changed. Here are words from Robert, one of the devs:

it’s tied to the daily achievement system, which applies to all characters. This was an issue when we had our tokens soulbound, but now that they are account bound we don’t feel we need to offer the bonus first-run tokens to every character on an account.

Even another dev (Jon) confirms that in the thread you linked.

Ok, well I’m speaking from experience, as I regularly run dungeons with two toons and have learned the DR’s quirks and consistently get the 60 tokens.

Whether you choose to double your tokens or not is up to you.

What you said is correct but it might change with one patch because it’s not working as intended (according to devs’ statements).

@haviz: Powercat has it correct, what you might not realize is that there are 2 DIFFERENT types of DR in place. One being account bound, the other being dungeon path bound. It is quite easy to mistake the 2 DR’s into the same DR.

Getting less tokens for repeating same paths isn’t called DR. Getting 60 is called daily bonus. There are no 2 differents types of DR.

Keep thinking that there isnt 2 types of DR and ill keep getting 700+ cof tokens a day by taking advantage of how to avoid the 2 DR’s.

Did you at least read that quote or want me to quote another one? I’m well aware how it works, I’m saying it doesn’t work as intended (according to devs statements).

Keep up the farming and wait till devs will finally find out that people wait 2hrs and swap. On the sidenote, I was getting about 500 tokens in one day for arah but got bored.

I read your post, working as intended or not, it is “how it works.” Saying it doesnt work as such is inaccurate.

Good we have an understanding. I’m just warning people from a situation where they finally fix it and people will be whining how bad anet is for destroying their another farm.
