Q:
scavengers damage to standing players
A:
it’ll be fixed in the next content patch.
This mechanic was really problematic for my static group and I when we first started doing dungeons. Eventually we learned just not to touch them unless we had a disable or if the scavengers were finished munching. The KD proximity is very misleading and frustrates many of the new players we teach. You could be standing behind it and get tortured by it.
In another topic a dev said that they are looking to fix it. It’s definitely bugged when the mob hits you when you are standing a meter BEHIND it and it’s hitting the ground in front of it. Also, you can even get stunned just by walking near it even though the initial stun was dodged. In addition, sometimes you get stunned by the leap, pop a stunbreak and get immediately stunned again.

exactly.. I mean it’s not much trouble to avoid it, it just seems unintended. I’ve started taking knockdowns/dazes myself to interrupt, but still..
the animation really is made for single target damage, namely the knocked down person.. it’s not like kohler spin where it’s very clear you shouldn’t hug him meanwhile.

I know, only a dev can say whether it’s intended, but I was wondering if others find it peculiar as well.

ah, thanks for the answer, didn’t see that topic =)
I always figured the multi-knockdowns were some masochistic way of teaching people to dodge instead of rely on stunbreaks ;-) but the damage spilling over to unintended targets is really annoying.

wow, thanks alot! =) that’s great news.
now I only need to find a way to convince groups not to skip kohler and AC will be perfect ;-)

Well they are also redoing all the AC boss fights …
really? I mean, sure, I’d like some fresh air in those stuffy catacombs, but I thought the boss fights (does this include stuff like burrows and traps etc? because I really like those parts) pretty well done in comparison with other dungeons (except maybe fractals). so I didn’t think they’d revamp the AC bosses completely. but if they want to, I surely won’t complain =)
I like your signature Oranisagu. Couldn’t agree more, why miss out on that chest/WP/boss loot for a whopping 2 minutes of “dodge once every 30 seconds”. His regular attacks really aren’t that bad as any tank worth his metal can just walk away from the keyboard, and anyone else can just jump in the water, healing OOC on the way back…

Well, noone skips kholer because he is too hard to fight but because he is inefficient in making money. It’s basically wasting minutes for almost nothing.

since when is 10-15s, a bag and a chest for two to three minutes’ work considered inefficient?

Never underestimate the WP, when doing path 1 there’s always at least ONE person who gets hit by the fire on the way back.

problem is.. many of those people claiming they’re so pro and kohler is unnecessary are exactly those players which come with a full pvt gear, do 0 damage and complain about how long he takes. had a run today where a scepter-only guardian got pulled to kohler every single time, except when he accidentally had stability.. he lost about quarter to a third of his life in the spin afterwards.. and yes, for such players, kohler will never be profitable. it’s even worse when after a terribly slow run.. or crawl.. they start telling everybody how great and op guardian is, because they’re such a useful addition to the team.. my brother with a full zerker guardian is much better support than this guy today (and I don’t mean sarcastically. he uses stand your ground etc when necessary, no cleric gear necessary at all – only timing).
if you have group of 4-5 damage focused players, kohler goes down extremely fast. depending on the path, the resulting shortcut thanks to porting instead of running nearly makes up for it anyhow.

Agreed. And it’s usually me :p I did this path somewhere in the double digits count and I still haven’t got the timing right… Not to mention the runs where we do Kohler after the burrows event.
@Oranisagu — Love your signature
On a note related to the OP, does everyone suffer terrible culling on the 2nd Scepter scavenger hunt in the north of the map? I’ve been experiencing being mauled down to death by invisible scavengers a lot lately in there.

Lol Leapers are a female dog, thought i’ll miss their bugged jumps when they are gone… right now they pose the only real thread in AC
Those Scavenger’s are the most overpowered trash mobs in game. If they knock you down and you don’t have a stun break up you’re guaranteed to be full lifed by being chain knocked down.
I mean, it’s absolutely NOT fun being chain knocked down from 100% to 0% by mobs in dungeons. Why isn’t there a proper DR system or anything in place that prevents you from being knocked down if you’re already knocked down? In PvE you shouldn’t be able to get knocked down again until you stand back up.

Wasting a few minutes for 10-15 silver.. That’s good for making money IMO. And his chest gave me 2 exotics. Eir’s Longbow and a random Lv.78 GS.
Well, more nerf! Yay! Easier money runs!

Agreed with Canine, Kholer is probably the only reason I keep doing AC.
Fun fight, good money and a same chance of precursor than a Dragon.
Also the 2 champion scavengers on the right side, 5 silver each and can easily be done. One is a leaper champ so its kind of hard for newbies but easily handled if you have good CC. 10 silver in another few minutes, profit!

So in the February release –we haven’t talked a lot about this- but we actually rebuilt all of the bosses of the Ascalon Catacombs, from scratch. All of them will be brand new in the February release. I remember the encounters have all been re-done as well.
I like scavengers… They keep you on your toes. You can face roll pretty much everything else but them you have to keep watching. It isn’t overly hard to dodge and then not go near them, using interrupts to save slower teammates or simply standing just out of range of the scav but close enough to still be able to revive.
