stop speed runs
I try to explain, people end up thinking im being bossy or the party is so eerily silent by not typing the entire run, it feels awkward breaking the silence.
Also, people need to speak up if they dont know. I dont want to explain every run, if people are exp, this is seen as a insult. If they say up front, Im more than happy to explain

Actually happened to me.
Had a player in one run who clearly had NO clue what to do in a dungeon. And he never said a word about it.
So when we told him, he should say beforehand that he’s not experienced, so we could explain things to him, he confessed that he was afraid of people kicking him for being a novice.
But the thing is – if you say it’s your first time most people are more than ready to explain stuff. And if you just go in and do badly – you’re more likely to get kicked without explanation.
Pleas stop posting “speed runs” on lfg-site if you think “speed” means auto-attacking bosses from safe-spots, dying at lupicus, just generally dying all the time, failing multiple times with corrupted light, just generally failing, waiting for one person or just generally waiting for something.
Arah P3 taking 40-60 mins is not a speed-run.
Please, for the sake of good dungeon runs, do something against the speed runs, in which only the bosses are killed. I frequently find groups (pugs) who call me a noob because i start fighting the mobs between the fights instead of running through them to the next boss. this mostly is the case in CoF path 1, where the only mobs groups defeat are the bosses.
Please change dungeons to make this behaviour impossible. Dungeons are fun and some pulls are a bit challenging for pugs, but by running past all it, it’s fun for nobody.
Do you kill all the mobs in maps to get from point A to pint B?
so do I.
There’s a way to stop dealing with speed runs: Don’t join them.
This.
When you’re looking for a party specifically request non-speedruns. Problem solved.

I am surprised nobody mentioned it earlier, but gw2lfg has a great option for you to find players that have your tastes, it’s called “Not skipping content” and the icon is a star. Look for those players or create lfgs with this symbol and you will no longer face the issue.
Same goes the other way for speed runners, use the appropriate icon (double arrow) so that no player ends frustrated when joining your group.
And Anet, if you read this, please try and include a solution somewhat similar to what gw2lfg is currently offering, this would be awesome to have as an in-game feature.

Who in the right mind would want to not “skip content”? There’s no real reward for clearing any of those mobs and it’s mindlessly tedious.
Many of the half hour run paths would take 3-4 times as long.

Some people find running dungeons in an organized group to be fun. But then again that’s why I dont’ pug…

Another word for the people in your example is called masochists.
I don’t know what type of weird guild you are in but never in any mmo game or any guild that I’ve ever seen are there people who opt to spend a bunch of extra time going through dungeons for no real gain.
We should use GW1 as an example. The Underworld was an elite mission many players formed coordinated groups to quickly run past most of the mobs and complete objectives in order to finish the dungeon for fairly predictable drops (with the occasional “jackpot” expensive item). However, most of the mobs they ran past had a chance to drop the same loot (ectos) that the end chest did. If you wanted to farm UW by grinding all the mobs, you could. If you wanted to do speed runs for more calculated results (and rightfully better in the long run), you could do that. It took more coordination and required far more risk and skill to complete.
As players, we need to remember that it’s fun to enjoy doing the same thing different ways. While it was fun doing UWSC til the cows came home, it was fun to slow clear it with a balanced team from time to time. The slower option needs to at least be in the same ball park in terms of rewards.
Speed runs have been around since Guild Wars 1, if it has never been removed in Guild Wars 1, don’t see it being removed in 2.
Officer of The Unholy Mackerels
I have not run a CoF speed run. However, in SE p3, I find it much more enjoyable to skip mobs even when the party has people in it who are terrible at doing so. It is WAY more fun to go through these obstacle course-like tricks and at times play a kind of “covert-ops” role than it is to simply say “Ok, downed that group of high-HP mobs. Now, remember guys because this takes a lot of brain power: There are four more groups in this hallway to take out exactly like we just did.”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much kitten in one thread before now.
go back to wow if your looking for mobs that stupidly chase you throughout dungeon!
Sorry I don’t want to spend 1.5 hours in Arah for the same reward of a 25 min cof/coe (non-speed) run.
So, we skip.

Even CoF doesn’t require a portal on a speed run.
True professional speed runs don’t use portals because it adds 5-10 seconds of time to the completion.
