one of the few things i never understood of frcatals.

I see most groups manage to kill the upper part of the ice elemental so it stops using its cripple/KD attack.

How exactly do you kill that?

Things that work on it. Mesmer f1 and f2 shatters, warrior longbow 3, thief sbow 2. Theres probably more. But it seems to me like its a certain type of aoe skill. I havent found anything on the ele that works and they have a lot of aoe.

And you just target the source or place the aoe on the source. The aoe hits the hitbox under the floor or something (extra damage floater appears underneath you).

A thief can do it with Shortbow (auto attack or Cluster Bomb, don’t remember) or a Mesmer with Mind Wrack (need to shatter about 6 clones with Assassin / Zerk set). But it only prevent the “Swirling Wind” like AoE that does damage and cripple, not the KD attack

Pretty much any AoE attack with a large enough radius can destroy it.

But how does the mechanic works _?
there is no target afaik.

Well on mesmer I just use my Mind Wrack on the source.
