trio for dungeons?
Well it depends somewhat on dungeon, and the players in question. Mesmer is off many people’s rotation for many paths for instance. I would say the good dungeon groups have wars, guardians, and mesmers in them. If the player in question is good enough to use the class properly thiefs, eles, and rangers are solid additions. Most people are crap at those three, and I’ve seen so many scrub mesmers it should probably be added there. But that can be said of heal guards and tank wars too, its really build depending and how much synergy is present in the party.
In general as long as there is a good mix of required for dungeon skills (reflects, might stacks, aegis/protection, blinds, ect.) and everybody is specced for dps you can run with nearly anything.
Depends on the dungeon i guess. Guardians are useful too, esp in Twilight arbor.

how are necromancers doing in dungeons?
how are necromancers doing in dungeons?
In my experience mostly considered to not be wanted. They don’t contribute much that is actually desired, and most seem to build for conditions which is bad in dungeons. They also lay down fields that prevent the desired ones from being used, and fear enemies out of stacks randomly (result of bad play for sure, but there it is). A well played one can contribute well enough, but that is rarer than a well played ranger.
okay so since there is talk of ranger. i have ranger that i love that ive been kinda working on lvling occasionally. would a trap master ranger be decent for dungeons?

No. The only ranger build that would add value over another class would be this http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/84268-the-perfect-dps-ranger-guide-for-real/
The problem is that sword is a pain to get used to and is a difficult class to play. It is also unusable for some fights since you can’t max melee stuff and your forced with greatsword which is rather weak. It is also annoying since it hits so fast that it pushes enemies out of range of reflects. They bring spotter, frost spirit, fury, vuln, and an extra reflect which are nice though.
A good trio would be a guardian or mesmer for reflects and support, a warrior for offensive support, and 1 other.
how are necromancers doing in dungeons?
They are doing well here recently :P In game, I don’t mind a necro in my dungeon party as long they are running a dps build. Once I got 2 necros join a speedrun and some party members left immediately o.0 And then sometimes the pug wars in CoF complain about bringing classes like ranger and necro, even though they were already full zerk. It’s kinda sad really. Maybe the good trio for dungeons is 1. War 2. War 3. War? :P
There’s always this 3 classes archetype in MMOs/RPGs like a warrior, archer/rouge, mage. In Gw2 although we dont have the trinity, with all the combos and synergy of skills I wonder which classes in a group of 3 consisting of one heavy, one med and one light could make the best setup.

If I had to pick 3 I’d want a Warrior for might, fury, high damage, vulnerability, and of course banners.
Guardian for their high damage, and great support even as DPS
Then Elementalist for might stacking and FGS/Lightning Hammer
I would say it largely depends on the player skill and knowledge of the dungeon.
I started a FoTM group two weeks ago for 20. Another group of 3 necros merged party with me and, of course, I immediately wanted to leave. So, I made a comment about having too much condi damage and hoping they all weren’t all specced that way (they were from the same guild). They said no. Ended up being one of the smoothest PUG groups I have had, especially considering we had 3 necros. Granted, that was with a 5 man party, but the same applies anywhere.
When I 3 man arah my favorite group is Warrior Mesmer Thief. Warr for offensive buffs, Mesmer for reflects (absolutely a must at alphard) and Thief for the trash runs (makes it a lot smoother).
War War Guard. Or War Ele Guard.

I’m going to start three-manning Arah soon.. how much time does it take you?
