what is the point of your DR system?
Read the stickies. It’s bugged, they’re working on it.
If you only play 2 hours a day, there’s not a chance in hell you should be hitting the DR system unless you’re exploiting. Assuming you aren’t, you shouldn’t have problems once they fix it.
how wouldnt it affect me? if i run the same dungeon / path twice in a row, i’m getting crap rewards. And dont even get me started about their loot system, does magic find even do anything??? explain to me why a purple boss mob drops a white rawhide mask? really? then u get 2 blues and if ur lucky a green from their chests..
the bottom line though is that speed clearing shouldn’t be penalized, and if your going to penalize it then just lock us out of thekittendungeon for 24 hours like other games, atleast then we’re not disappointed after spending our time learning a dungeon, only to get crap from the second run.
The whole DR thing is just dumb. It’s a pain as it is trying to find people to run anything else but CoF as it is.
To anwser the question in the title, the purpose of the DR system is two fold
1)Prevent players from aquiring too much in game wealth (Effects the economy and more improtantly for anet, Gem Sales.)
2) Prevent players from playing through the content they enjoy at a pace faster than the developers can churn out new content (The longer you are playing the game, the more likely you are to buy Gems.)
DR is Anti-Farming, not “Anti-Botting”, it’s here to protect anets/ncsofts bottom line. Think of it like the “Stress Points” in a certain Nexon game. The difference being over there the mechanic is clear and in your face, here all it’s functions are shrouded in mystery aside from “Go kill other mobs(that don’t drop as much loot/gold)/play an alt”
It’s supposed to be anti-exploit, but the conditions are a little too broad and affect almost everyone.
I believe the dungeon developers are just out of touch. It’s unfortunate, because, other than bugs here and there in other parts of the game, dungeons are what weigh Guild Wars 2 down from an amazing game to simply a good game. This is not a comment as to the difficulty of the dungeons but the primitive design of them. The overall combat is amazing, but the dungeon system and dungeon design themselves can be found in a lot of lesser games.
