what's wrong with the kicking in pugs?
did you ask if you could switch to your alt and get a confirmation that everyone was okay with it? or did you just say I’m going to switch?

The topic of the GW2LFG is: LF4M COF p1
What I said in the beginning: I will be switching to my alt when boss is low hp hope it’s fine.
The response I got was silence.
There were no mentioning of speed run nor farming in chat during the entire run, not that the run was not speedy enough already.
I was not kicked before I made the effort but after most of the work was done.
There was no chat, whisper or anything before the kick.
I will be cool if kicked at the beginning or asked to switch back to lvl 80 or kicked.

The community has taken a nosedive in behavior lately and running a pug is something I used to live but now I dread it.
Lots of (insert that game name here) players are coming into GW2 and those players usually the rudest mmo players you will encounter.
Best bet is to only run with your guild.

seems like just a bad pug group. Best advice is to join a guild group in the future.
Also, before you ever switch charas in this manner for experience, make sure your group knows and is ok with it.
Main: Caeimhe – Sylvari Ranger
Alts: Charr Guardian, Asura Elementalist, Human Thief, Norn Necromancer
The problem isn’t the kick option, the problem is people switching to alts. This should be removed from the game. I kick 2/3 people a day because of this. It has nothing to do with you doing COF p1, you can’t blame a dungeon path for your problems. Just don’t switch to an alt anymore especially when you say what your team was composed of and you dropping at 40%, it must of taken a long time to kill. Im glad you were kicked
Edit: i dont think alt swapping should be removed, but alt swapping to anything non level 80 should be. I run TA with some people who swap to level 80 alts when the boss is at 30% so they can get tokens but they only swap because they use zerk wars or guards to help with the run then switch to an alt ranger or whatever for tokens. So their actually helping the party more than anything doing the dungeon on a toon they have already got tokens with that day. Then theres people like myself who switch to an at at lets say ARAH path 2, i use guard to get to last boss then switch to zerk war to do the last boss with, i see nothing wrong with this because im helping the team. Switching to a non max toon is selfish and not helping anyone but yourself.

I don’t think its very good ettiquette to switch to alternate. I know alot of people do it. I get people/groups who say Ïll switch at 30%", meanwhile just to make sure they get their XP they log out at 80% and waste my time soloing the boss.
you got trolled. the end.

I will always kick people that change to low level alts at final boss, unless of course we discussed it before hand. Did you discuss with them that you want to change to a lower level alt at the boss? If not I would’ve kicked you as well and I see no reason not to kick you, you don’t need any “protection” from this.
Have screenshots of the party chat where they agree to you switching to a lowlvl for the last boss. If they kick you, report them.
If they didn’t agree, stay on your main or don’t participate in the run at all.
Silence doesn’t constitute agreement.
(But a good reason to leave the group in any case. Do you really want to play with people who can’t be bothered to type “sure, np” or “no, kitty you” in answer to such a simple and reasonable question?)
You left when the boss was at 40%, I would have kicked you too. You are worthless on a low level alt and you expect the rest of them to carry you through half the boss fight.
Next time wait until <20%

The no sympathy policy is in effect for people who like to switch to alts.

I have no problem with it but don’t do it at >20%, especially if you are in a PuG.

When you run with pugs you have to hope for the best and expect the worst. Your first clue should’ve been the silence when you were asking them about swapping. Personally I have no issues with swapping as long as (as others have said) it is verbally agreed upon.
blah blah blah bunch of text
By tokens, I hope you mean skill points, because dungeon tokens are account bound, not character bound, otherwise I don’t think you’ve ran a dungeon in your life and you don’t know what you’re talking about.
I don’t see a problem with switching to a low level alt at the end of a boss to get exp for your character as long as you let the group know before hand and they agree it’s ok, and as long as the group is in good health prior to the boss dieing.
However the only time I do it is in TA, because we ranged nightmare boss anyways. You would have to be having a pretty bad day to wipe below 30% on that guy! Everything else I won’t switch because I’m usually tanking it. (Guardian

Well well where do i start? ok so i hope by the end of this you realize how dumb you actually are, yes you are right about tokens being account bound but the way you aquire them is not.
Ex: If i have 5 accounts and i do all 3 paths in TA with all 5 of them that means 1000 tokens a day if you so choose (including bags)
Now i don’t have 5 level 80’s i have 2 so heres another example. I do COE 3 in 1, it takes 30 minutes per account i get 200 tokens per account which equils 400, don’t worry i’ll do all the math for you so you can understand. 400 Coe tokens is 8g in undead potions, add in the drops thats 11-15g for an hours work.
I really hate when cof p1 farming signet wars come to a forum and try to act smart because they speed run 1 path but only make themselfs look like a moron because they have no idea what their talking about.
Next time think before you type, it will save you the trouble of looking like a kitten.
Now obviously i know what im talking about so please stay off the forums.
Oatmeal, people switch to diff chars in dungeon because of 2 reasons:
1) Exp points if they want to level up
2) Tokens if they have max their dungeon’s runs with their main (DR). Search the forum for DR thread.

Was doing a cof p1 run today. The topic in GW2LFG was nothing remotely close to speed run or farming run. The makeup of the group was 1 elem 1 necro and 2 mesmer, nothing remotely resembles a speed run. At the beginning of the run I said I will be switching to my alt when boss was low hp. Was doing most of the dps and tanking on my elem while the other elem, the necro and 1 of the mesmers kept dying. Anyways, it was pretty fast took us 5-10 mins getting to the boss. So I switched to my low level alt when the final boss at 40% hp and only to found I got kicked before the experience and chest. One of the mesmer told me the group leader initiated the kick.
What the kitten is wrong with COF p1 run nowadays? And more importantly what’s wrong with the people running it? Is there anyway Anet can do to prevent this bs happening? Maybe charging people 1g when initiating a kick? And most importantly shield player who is (1. online 2. solid presence in the aggro table, 3. did top damage in the party) from being kicked. not hard but pretty effective isn’t it?
comments as you think fit.
Well it sounds like no one agreed to that. You can’t just switch characters in without consent from the team.
Ex: If i have 5 accounts and i do all 3 paths in TA with all 5 of them that means 1000 tokens a day if you so choose (including bags)
You mean 5 toons, right? Not 5 accounts.
I was in an AC group today that had 2 people want to switch characters at the boss. I was perfectly fine with that. One even waited too long to switch, and requested that we kite the boss until he got loaded in. Again, I was perfectly fine with that. But this is AC we’re talking about.
The final bosses in CoF (path 1 and 2) pretty much require 5 players. In path 1, if you’re not a strong DPS group, losing a player can significantly lengthen the battle. Same with path 2, but due to the mechanics rather than DPS limitations.

I’m not sure what you were trying to get at here…but okay. I’m not sure what CoE 3 in 1 is, but you probably don’t want to be advertising that you do it on the forums. Sounds like an exploit, sort of like the HotW path 3,2.
I’m sorry you got kicked, OP, but as you can see by this thread, there are a lot of people who hate when you switch to an alt. Personally, I don’t care. I never switch to an alt, i just run the dungeon on that char, but I have guildies who like to switch at the end. I’d say, get a good dungeon running guild and make friends. I hate PuGs. I really hate them. I only use them when I’m desperate, and even then, i’ll put off the run for a few hours if it means I can run with guildies. You have no vocal coordination with PuGs and a lot of the times you end up with elitist kittens or players who can’t stay alive.
TL;DR: Find a guild and run with them or make 100% sure that the group is okay with you leaving. It only takes one person to initiate the kick and another person not paying attention to second it.

On a boss that is permanently regenerating for 25 stacks? You do the math.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Silence doesn’t constitute agreement.
True. My first guess would be not paying attention, followed by afk, followed by apathy.

So how long am I supposed to wait? Is a covenant required? I supposed I need to bring my lawyer?
Simply ask before kicking. Is it too much to ask for?If a warning was given I would be cool and switch back to my other toon. Boss down faster, I got what I worked for and no drama created. Win win situation and all it needs is some minimal english.

If you having problem downing the p1 boss in 2 mins 4 manning, you are at high risk being kicked in recent speedy run clout. I wouldn’t do that tho, but some good portion of the community just think they make the rules in pug run and kicking is the only way to resolve any differences and incompetences.
