what to do with ascended rings?
That +5 agony resist that you can infuse into it is a lifesaver even if its the wrong stats. Worse case scenario: on scales 10-19 only equip it during boss fights, since that’s only where the agony is. Second way to use it: give it to an alt. I’m not sure if it can be salvaged and/or what it drops as salvage. Sounds like a bad idea though unless you really don’t care.

No it does not. You can’t even salvage them for ectos. This is Anets new strategy to get us to roll alts and buy more banktabs.

Sounds like a very bad idea that is never going to work.
It becomes even more ridiculous when you get two rings… that are exactly the same. Since they are unique you can only equip one, the other one is completely useless (unless you do alts, which I don’t). What am I suppose to do with it Anet? Vendor it for 4.96s? That just seems really poorly thought out.
its a bragging item…no more no less. Selling them would make fractals pointless and would create an elite group of people controlling all ascended sales. So yeah..Im glad they are doing this.
Those agony resist will have better use than the inadequate stat at higher level believe me. Or just send it to me by mail :p
Thing is (and I don’t think I’m alone in this) I don’t care about higher level fractals, what I care about is getting the ascended ring that has better stats than my current exotic ring. And it’s not a bragging item because it’s so easy to get. Right now it’s a pure and simple RNG, I’ve gotten 4 rings now grinding 10 and 20 everyday and there all junk, and like I said above two of them are exactly the same ring. It’s just realllly poorly designed as is.
At least you guys are getting rings, I’d take anything at this point even if it doesn’t have the stats I want, getting 1shot by the jade maw is not coolk anymore.

Finally got an ascended ring to drop for me today, but of coarse the stats on it are useless for me. can i do anything with this ring thats useful? or should i just salvage it for globs?

The rings can’t be salvaged and can’t be put into the mystic forge.
I held out for a long time by not equipping the rings I had, but agony in the higher levels is just too much of a killer and I caved in and equipped them. They’re totally wrong stats for my build, but oh well.
Haha, Its stupid… Ive ran the fractal dailys 7 times now, obtaining 3 rings, which were all exactly the same ring… !! god kitten its a pain.

It’s actually not pure RNG. Do 10 fractal dailies and you can get a ring of your choice!
I have 5 level 80s. I’m working on three others. I don’t think I will ever have the “problem” of too many ascended rings. First world problems? Any rings I find, even if they have MF on them, will be valuable in equiping multiple characters with Agony Resistance assuming ArenaNet ever makes FotM levels account wide (I worked my way to 80, I’m not going to level up a dungeon 9 times before I get to the point where I can start getting the loot I want).
Extra rings can always be used on alts for easy access to agony resistance. Aside from that, they offer the opportunity for build diversity.
