Cursed shore??
Nope, it’s as dead as your typical Risen mob.

Oh how I wish they would bring back the old Orr. Back when it was back to back events…man what I rush! Event scaling and back to back events would be awesome.
But like Vol said…Anet killed it, killed it with a passion.
No one even does the temples anymore. That’s how dead it is down there.
The only life you see in the region are people farming for Ori nodes nowadays, no one bothers to stay for any events.
Would be amazing if there was some other way to get the karma gear there considering no one cares to even step foot out of Lions arch to do anything worth mentioning in Orr.
Meanwhile a unique looking set and nice way to start off at max level through karma earned is wasted because a temple in Orr requires 15+ people and you’re lucky to get a group of 5 for it.

Anet has said that the have made Southsun and Orr “interesting” for hardcore players who are looking for “challenge”. While this group appears to be highly vocal, they are largely non-existent in the game. If they were to return CS to the January update there would be many happy players in GW2; and, these players would be actual existent players. It would be great to have the old CS back.

What are you talking about?
They increased the difficulty which is a good thing. Unfortunately these very weird developers thought it would be a good idea to decrease the frequency of the events to make the zone boring and keep the rewards terrible in order to prevent people from actually going there.
I can go to Queensdale and chop down a tree and get better rewards than a lvl 83 champion in Orr.
This game design is so bad I even wonder how they got this job.

This is so true. I still go to Orr just because I need some T6 mats and junk drops from there just sell better to vendor. But it is sooo boring. I don’t even use +MF food there because there is high chance that it will be usefull for 1 event only then I will wait for 25-30 mins till next one.

Well I head there with a group of friends and we end up with a decent amount of materials, sometimes rare items. The loot isn’t that great (lots of blues/greens) but all those mats make up for it.
Yay for us I guess?

Cursed Shore isn’t fun anymore. Thanks Anet.

This is like the ultimate ignorant casual post.
Lovely! Keep it up!

How is it ignorant? OP asked if anyone is still there farming, to which I replied with what I do with some friends and our results.
Oh I should had bashed Anet for destroying all the farming places in Orr? Sorry my bad.

Ruins of Surmia server did global organised events marathon, plenty of them in Orr. That was tons of fun and actually the way I’m doing my Orr map completion. Sadly if one wanders in there alone at odd times, it’s all sad and deserted.

True, unfortunately.
I do the events for…. for the lulz? Mainly for exploration and fun of doing it. But it’s certainly true that a better rewards scheme needs to be implemented for a bigger player population that’s needed to keep Orr a fun place.
What I gather from conversations with some hardcore players, apparently it’s much better to do CoF p1 and grind up ‘teh moneyz’ quickly than spend ages in Orr where there isn’t that many people to keep events interesting/doable.
This is also an issue with mid-lvl maps. I’m going for map completion which can get extremely boring in places just because maps are empty. My server (RoS-EU) is medium-population, but places like Brisban Wildlands, Timberline Falls and Snowden Drifts have 2-3 players in total on occasion.

I really enjoyed farming there actually… I love looting tons and tons of looting… I really wish they brought it back
To be blunt, cursed shore is plainly kitten now.
I was going to make a new topic questioning how any player was supposed to participate in events in cursed shore by themselves since the place is abandoned.
Pretty much anything involving a champion level mob in a non group event is fubar since you won’t be able to even scratch the boss and they will hit you once or twice and shred you.
So all you can really do here is run around kill the odd lone mob and maybe tag along when the zerg arrives to push over melandru and grenth priests.
Man don’t mention Melandru chain. It is the last Orr event worth doing/farming. ANet may nerf it to the ground if they notice!

Plus the NPC you escort is hilarious.
“Oh great, MORE RISEN”

I hate Asura with the intensity of a thousand suns, but that guy is great. =)
CS was destroyed months ago, ANET nerfed the entire zone into the ground, then nerfed it some more just to make sure, you can spend hours down there and not get any decent drops,
Basically what anet want you to do is
Jormag>Teq>Shatterer>Maw>Wurm>SB – and if you have your daily after them, log out and come back and do it again tomorrow, you can also take an extra 45mins – 1 hour and do the new content, then log out.

Unfortunately, this seems to be true.
I spent about half an hour in Cursed Shore (DR) yesterday and virtually nobody is there. Penitent and Shelter was destroyed. Even escorting the tactician proved to be a real "challenge"*
Then I guested to Darkhaven, and there’s nobody. Nobody even bothered to escort the new walls for penitent. Back then a Champion KFC would spawn (followed by confused screams of OHKO), now there were only 3 people, including me.
If it wasn’t for Arah, Cursed Shore would be non-existent.
ANet may have tried to reduce item prices by reducing your ways to obtain them. Instead, people go for cold-hard cash and considering ANet hasn’t done anything about it, it is possible they do sanction CoF runs as a way to keep the prices high (and lure people to convert gems to gold)
*: A Veteran Risen Abomination which conveniently ignores every single mobility impairment, moves faster than you, and have a bunch of immobilizing minions can either be seen as a challenge or attempted brain murder
I would love to know if ANet have any plans for all the abandoned group events in Orr, if no one is around to do them then what happens?
They just stay like that forever?
I pushed 3 major events in CS to their boss/ champ stages – no one shows up and they become impossible to solo so have to abandoned and never completed now that CS is an empty zone, it;s pretty bloody sad.
“Play the way you want to play” sounds a little absurd now huh?
I think what Anet meant to say was “Play where and how we want you to play or get no rewards”
