Daily events = not fun!
Hey guys,
I just wanted to say that even if I think that this daily event system is a good idea, the tasks that make these daily events are so borring!
Where is the fun in killing random stuff underwater? Where is the fun finding 10 dead NPC to revive them? Where is the fun finding a low levels nodes to extract from? Where is the fun waiting in front of a monster to attack you to get your 10 dodges?
Please give us some funny things to do, like “kill Priest of Grenth” or “kill Jormag”!
No and no.
Dailies are supposed to be easy and simple. Actually revieving allies is fun part. You can do it while fighting Your jormag or grenth not a hard job cause you still have to revie allies when they die.
A specific Kill X world boss daily would suck cause not always your able to acomplish that goal and actually kill it. Especially after grenth buffs which is now hell to kill.
Daily is made that way, that no matter what You do You’ll still make it. Cause Your still farming ores etc. You still kill stuff. Do events underwater.
Maybe stop treating a daily like Your rutine job and start having overall fun. Cause if You just try to do DAily It might seems booring to go x point then y then z just to do daily.
You got 24hours to do it So just chill and do what You usualy do and have fun
I wouldn’t mind a “kill X type of enemies” or “kill X number of enemies in X zone” goals, or even a “kill X boss”; but only AFTER you have the option to skip one of the dailies and still get credit. If you can pick and choose which ones you do an leave one out, this is no problem for me.
overly specific objectives only punish players that are totally unable to do them, currently all daily objectives are something any character can do regardless of level or play time and such.
You wouldn’t like it if the objectives started being stuff like “play a level 67 character” or “play at xx:xx time which happens to be unfeasible for you”
Dailys are for a small boost xp and items, if you want more specific challenging fun try doing other acheivements, those that are designed for specific challenges/fun that aren’t timed.
Since dailies changed I’ve just played my normal game and not even come close to completing a daily with the new daily system… True I’ve not gone out of my way, but I managed to complete dailies with the old system by just more or less playing.
With the new system there is alway one or two I’ll never complete no matter what.
How about the ability to say choose 4 from 6 dailies so it not automatically out of bounds to some players, just a thought.

There shouldn’t be a reason as to why you’d “never” be able to complete any part of the dalies. So far, nothing has been too far fetched. I wonder what ones you are having issue with?
Im guessing probably the rez and the dodge, some people never rez anyone (or play exclusively solo and I guess miss the content with npcs to rez) and some people don’t dodge, why I don’t know but I bet many of them also complain about dieing a lot.
Some people have builds that don’t require them to dodge a lot (Guardians with lots of Aegis and Retaliation come to mind). On my Necromancer, I barely need to move in combat since my minions soak up all the damage for me. On my Warrior, I prefer keeping in melee range so my “dodging” is more of running in circles around the enemy while auto-attacking to keep them from flanking me and maximising my damage against multiple targets. My Ranger also rarely needs to dodge since my pet grabs all the aggro for me. As a result, in order for me to complete that part of the Daily, I have to actively alter my playstyle, which is rather annoying.
It’s still not that big a deal though, and I imagine Phase 2 of the updates will resolve these gripes when we can complete 4/6 of the Daily activities to get the reward anyway.
“Kill X Boss” would alienate players who haven’t reached a high enough level. Dailies are for players of every level, class and race and shouldn’t be difficult to complete. If they added an “Elite Daily” or something with x number of champions/dragons whatever, that would be pretty cool.
I guess it isn’t really until later and in dungeons that dodging really becomes a necessity for everyone, easiest way I think of people that have decided they don’t need to dodge to get the achievement would be to go to somewhere like a teqautl or shatterer spawn and roll through some of the patches placed down there.
That said I don’t think having one of the achievements based on a fairly core game mechanic is so far fetched.
Those that don’t dodge regularly in there game play get the practice so when they start doing content that demands dodging they don’t go in completely ignorant of the mechanic.
I actually wouldn’t mind a Monthly goal of “Kill X Champions”. It would provide some incentive for people to seek out Group Event bosses that people normally avoid because the risk/reward ratio is too imbalanced.
I personally dont have a problem with most of the daily requirments. Notice I said MOST. The crafting daily needs to take a hike. I dont like crafting but now in order to finish the dailies I’ve had to take up Weaponsmithing. Being forced to take that up is male bovine excrement of the highest order! I would’nt bother with it and skip the daily if it was’nt that the crafting requirement is kitten near every day!
Is making few copper bars that painful, really? Just asking.

They do have those achievments already like kill 500 centaurs etc etc part of the monthlys or whatsver

crafting is like the easiest daily man just get a ton of ore and forge the igots simple very very very easy people seem to like to make stuff sound harder than what it really is lol
Kill 5 Champion mobs or something like that can be cool.
Dodge is a VERY forced achiev. I use necro summon e need to unsummon everthing to do this.

Painful? How about fun?
Actually, fighting a boss is usually a good way to do a daily. Daily dodger or reviving players during a massive boss fight can be done in a snap. As a Guardian, I just have to be mindful that I need to, you know, dodge on the days that requirement kicks in.
You can get every single one except the crafting while waiting for/doing the Claw battle. There’s a lake right there, plenty of stuff to gather, plenty of baddies to kill and between the crystals and the dragon fight you get all of your world events.
It’s really not hard, it’s just disappointing that I have 20+ jugs of karma sitting in the bank and nothing to spend it on. At least give me a way to change it into gold or laurels so I can buy worthwhile things. I don’t like playing dressup and that seems to be the only thing it’s good for since the stats are the same as exotics.

Well, if you were doing previous dailies, you surely got mats in your bank. You take those (just the gathering tools cost, even not if you got tools from the personal story), take any crafting profession (free), craft the basic stuff (copper ore to copper bars being the easiest example) and sell it on TP! Do I lose anything from it? Two minutes of my time. Do I gain something? Munniez on emergency WP and repairs! Not much for someone like me who just explores maps, but you know what they say, a penny saved is penny earned. It makes me happy.
Edit: Also TIL Sparkfly Fen is awesome for dailies.

I’m able to complete nearly all of the dailies just by running one dungeon or doing a couple story quests. It’s not that difficult. It’s actually easier to finish then it was before.
80 ~Warrior~ Delvoire | 80 ~Ele~ Azalea Avenir
80 ~ Guardian~ Rag Nor | Server ~ FA
I have to agree with some of the others; it isn’t too bad to get the dailies done when you just go about your usual paths (though the underwater one might be a bit out of the way). However, my only gripe is the healer one.
I normally try to res people whenever they’re downed; I don’t like leaving people to feel as if no one is around to help them. However, from looking at the dailies while doing so, it doesn’t appear to register unless the PC has actually been defeated rather than just downed. It makes it so that I actively have to go to an area with NPCs that die to get that daily done.

Most of the daily requirements you will get while simply playing during the day. However, sometimes you will be required to seek out the last objectives to finish the daily. But it’s called an Achievement, not a “playtime reward.”
Some people will be able to get it without trying at all, some will need to do a little work (getting dodges on my hunter was a pain, since you can’t unsummon a pet without it coming back during combat, but I found a way. I also could’ve logged another character). But either way, it’s not terribly difficult and every daily can be completed in any of the starter zones in less than a hour.
It would be nice if they were more fun to do, but adding specificity also increases the difficulty for certain players. Currently, the requirements are just generic enough for anyone to be able to complete them easily. Personally, I like the recent chance and I don’t see a need for further changes at this time.
You don’t understand mmo.
That’s a great part of the game.

Gonna have to check that out…I’ve got 275k+ karma on my engy and nothing at all to spend it on. I haven’t been to Orr at all yet though so first I guess I have to figure out where to even get them…

you could also save it for legendary components. obsidian shards can be bought with karma and youll need them for legendaries

As far as I can tell, the legendaries don’t have any better stats than the exotics that I already have, so I’m really not interested in them.

Its primarily for the skin, but it has been said that legendaries will scale up as new levels of gear are introduced (so when ascended weapons come out legendaries will have ascended stats not exotic)
It all spells one word grinding. I got to 80 without that and I got exotics without all the seek and find duck and dodge craft craft craft gather thats grinding period. They have changed the daily and monthly and it all it tells me there is nothing consistent with the game. Its like having one of those bosses that writes everything in pencil. The reason they do it because it is easier to change things when they see revenue or game play is not going their way. And it is to wrap up people in the game for a longer period daily. To me Gw2 is a diversion only at this time.. It all kinda reminds me of JAGEX and the reasons I only visit there.
I have no real problem with the changes. Sometimes it is a bit of a pain to find sufficient allies to res…but no big deal.
My mistake was deciding I just had to pursue a legendary….there is going to be some boring grinding involved in that no matter how you do it….so much karma and gold is needed it is kind of ridiculous.
