So I used to play a lot with parties and with my guild in GW1. Yet, now that I am older, I have less time to play videogames. Every few days I’ll have the chance to log on really. This really makes it difficult to find good, non-pug groups. So in the end I spend most of my time in PvE, with only rare excursions into dungeons or PvP.

Now of course this is a MMO, so I am glad to see expansion into raids and guild events, and I really enjoy how interactive the new maps have become. I was just pondering the existence of 1 player dungeons. Similar to jumping puzzles, just more combat oriented. With bosses and so on, paths to choose from… Maybe even more prestigious rewards than jumping puzzles might warrant.

Just thought I throw that out there. You never know… Solo is entirely different build and execution wise, compared to a full party. Might pose interesting challenges.

There are mini dungeons already. I think that is the reason they put them into the game, for what you are asking.

If they did true, legit solo dungeons I would be concerned it would not be rewarding enough. It would be a single player instance, thus there would be no loot drops. You can already see this in effect in the new Arrah story dungeon – no loot drops, it really bites. They even removed all of the chests!

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

There already exist some dungeon path can solo. Not easy but you can do if try and learn. This is why you see some people sell path.

If you hate pug have a good guild and find friend to do it.

You can solo every path in this game, except the ones that have pressure-plate like mechanics that require you to have a certain amount of people (CoF p1, Arah p1 etc)

In theory, if you have extra computers, you can get extra accounts and level up those PC by forming parties with your PC from main account. With this set up you can solo dungeons in a way similar to using heros or henchmen in GW1 w/o help from AI.

All of the story instances are solo. That’s the vast majority of Anet’s content. As of S2 they even made sure to add challenge achievements so that there’s something less faceroll to play them for, and some of those are pretty tough, it’s basically the same feel as secondary missions in GW1, without the whole group reliance.

Hmmm, I think what the opp would like is a simular solution as in GW1: a party of heroes. I would like that too, but I’m afraid it’s not gonna happen…
