Hi,

I know you don’t want GW2 to be too grindy. Still, players should, in my opinion, be rewarded with slightly better stats for their work. Like 1% on the weapons stats or even less. Something which is not noticable, but still the best. It would give an extra motivation aside from the skin and add an end game goal.

What do you think about this idea?

That would make legendary items a new tier of equipment. No.

Do not mistake player choices for a lack of utility.

I think the sense of accomplishment, prestige, best-available stats, and switchable stats make legendaries desirable enough. I’m happy that players can spend (what, 50g?) on an ascended weapon and be on-par with a 2000g weapon.

I mean, it’s not like legendaries aren’t in demand because they’re not nice enough. They’re in high demand as it is, without an extra 1% stat advantage.

The game is designed to avoid people feeling pressure to upgrade from Exotic, unless they do exceptional content (raids, fractals, and some of the more restrictive WvW niches). Ascended is set as the apex and legendary is just a skin (and stat swap).

I don’t agree that ANet ought to toss that standard just because a few people think legendary means something else.

What’s done is done.

Sorry, but even if they wanted to and could change legendary’s to have the absolute 100% best stats in the game by a minute margin – it’s be one heck of a big middle finger to a large portion of the community and it’d just cause a massive thunderstorm of hatred and salt.

I remember when I got ascended shoulders to replace my exotic shoulders I had before. My armor went from 2293 to 2298, giving me a 0.2% better resistance against damage. I’ll always remember when that enemy Revenant crits me for 12k, that damage could have been 24 points more.

If it was up to me I would make it 5% but I’m almost 100% sure Anet would never do it since they have already broken enough promises.

Pssh I can swap from Berserker’s to Assassin’s to Marauder’s, plenty of choice!

I don’t see how a miniscule increase in stats would make Legendaries more desirable. They already have the bonus of always being best-in-slot (though with the rate of releases and uncertainty what ANet means when they say ‘no vertical progression … except these Ascended items that are vertical progression!’), having unique (and sometimes annoying) effects and being able to stat swap on the fly.

But the last point is really meh until they add a functionality that saves the Sigils in the stat slot. Because it’s true, you can swap the stats but why would you when going for another build usually requires you to use different Sigils as well. Being able to save (or at least ‘unlock’ a Sigil on the item by consuming it) Sigils (and then Runes for Legendary armor) I could see them having a much bigger incentive for players.

Legendary Sigils and Runes with swappable stats would be really cool. With that Anet could also raise Jewelcrafting to 500 to craft them.

They actually could add one more weapon category so we would have:

- Ascended weapons
- Ascended + weapons (find another name): all the expensive MF weapons like Aether – stats can be changed at will, just like the current legendaries
- Legendary weapons: stats + sigils can be changed at will

Let’s not twist the facts. It would have been 26 points more.
