My husband and I know they took WvW out of 100% Map rotation but we swore we read somewhere that your newbie zones:

Queensdale
Wayferer’s Foothills
Plains of Ashford
Caledon Forrest
Metrica Provance

We heard that these zones were also taken off that rotation, is that true?

I use to be a Ritualist and a Paragon in my former life…

Still have to do the for 100%.

World completion requires completing all the following maps:

All six cities.
The 25 explorable zones, except Southsun Cove and zones in the Maguuma Wastes
The Chantry of Secrets.
The following areas do not count towards world completion:

Dungeons.
Hall of Monuments.
All WvW maps, including Edge of the Mists and Obsidian Sanctum.
Heart of the Mists and any Structured PvP areas.
Explorable zones that were added after the release of the game, such as Southsun Cove, Dry Top and The Silverwastes.
Claw Island (story instance only)

They took WvW out because they are putting in a new map. This map sounds like it’s far harder for casual players to get to everything since they are putting in ways for each side to control their part of the map with area effects. imo, since the old and the new maps aren’t similar in difficulty, they took that requirement out. There is no such reason to remove the newbie maps from the total.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

WvW exploration was removed long before HoT was a thing. It was done to please PvE only players that thought WvW was too scary to explore. Cant say I blaim them. You know what they say, its dangerous to go alone.

Heart of Thorns, and the new WvW map was announced in January, 2015. The removal of WvW maps from World Completion happened in mid-March, 2015.

I believe the new WvW map had much to do with the removal of WvW maps from World Completion.

To clarify:

You still need to explore those starter areas, but the leveling rewards don’t teach you about map completion until you hit level 14.

In other words, you aren’t guided to do exploring until you’re pretty much out of those zones. However, if you go back you’ll notice the map markers are there.

Yes. WvW was the thing that was removed from 100% map completion. A lot of people did not feel that the PvP atmosphere meshed well with an accomplishment that was 90%+ PvE.

They took it out shortly before (4 days) they announced the specifics on the new map with HoT.

4 days is not “long before” and the two are obviously tied together.

Perhaps, it was that the Starter Zones would not be included in the new Map Rewards feature that will be implemented with the launch of Heart of Thorns. =)

The Chantry of Secrets.

You don’t need to get it anymore, it automatically gives you the Chantry’s map completion once you’ve done everything else. The source is that my last world completion ended in Mount Maelstrom and I got the Chantry of Secrets map reward popup at the same time.

Way to completely cheapen the title Anet. WvW completion was annoying as hell but it made it way more rewarding when you eventually got it.

To retroactively cheapen such effort is unforgivable imo. What a joke. kitten this game. Nek minute, legendaries for logging on.

If your having adventurer problems I feel bad for you son, I dodged 99 arrows till my knee took one.

When you have as bad memory as I apparently have, it is. I stand corrected.

Map completing WvW was annoying as he’ll but roughly 4 maps x 8 toons = a lot of keys if I remember correctly.

I hope they never remove cities from map completion, you can farm for Transmutation Charges extremely fast that way

What if HoT turns out to be the Mordrem Invasion event, x100?
