100% World completion
I just don’t like it because why should I be penalised because I’m a PvE player? If I wanted to play WvW I would but I don’t. But to give me no option to do so if I want 100% map means I’ll move on sooner because a huge chunk of the game isn’t worth doing because I’ll never get 100% in it
I enjoy WvW, however I’m currently in the same situation as you are, I need like 2 POI, 1 Skill Point and like 7 vistas, all from WvW. Although currently we are being dominated by one team and are unable to even stand the slightest chance on taking the objectives that would allow me to finish my World completion.
Hopefully come the WvW battle resets, it’ll be a little better and I’ll get it then… hopefully I say.
1. Why is Pve Content mixed with PvP.
Because it’s fun…
2.Why is my legendary tied to a gametype i dont like to play.
Because the game wasn’t built centered around you. If you don’t want to get 100%, then don’t do it!
3. What may be fun for some is a bore to others. Cheers to you if you love wvw and wanna sit in there and hope that castle gets taken so u can get a poi or vista. But forcing a pve player into pvp seems like bad design. I get they wanna fill their wvw games. But dont force me into a gametype i dislike. And then tie a major piece of acquiring my legendary to it. Its RnG.
This will always be the case no matter what the developers do, people will always complain. Some will love it, some will hate it. All the more reason why the devs should make the game they want. If you want a game to be made with some particular player-type in mind, why don’t you go make it yourself.
4. The awful que times. Enough said.
Server transfer. Enough said.

GW2 is first and foremost a PvP game, its always been a PvP game, and always will be a PvP game. You knew this before you purchased the game, and yet here you are whining that you have to…GASP…PvP in order to complete an achievement. If you seriously bought GW2 strictly for PvE, then good lord will you be disappointed. Basically 99% of endgame content in GW2 is PvP centered, unless you truly enjoy sitting in the one lvl 80 map in the entire game repeating the same boring event over and over as your PvE endgame rofl.
I played Guild Wars for 5 years without PvP. Now it looks like I’ll only play GW2 for 3 weeks, suppose I should have read up before I bought it but got my moneys worth. Guess I can just uninstall now and focus on BL2.
Well 100% map completion in GW1 also required entering some pvp areas… so this doesn’t surprise nor did it bother me!
Contrary to what others have said in this thread, wvwvw is technically a pve zone with pvp in it. Lst time I checked, you actually gain a lose based on taking mob controlled keeps and camps. You dont actually have to pvp to do these. Heres a little advice if you arent a pvper. Transfer to the server that dominating and run around for a few hours and get everything you need.
I wholeheartly agree with the OP, just from the other side of the mirror
its, simply put, excruciating having people inside a map doing nothing, just waiting and chatting for hours in the camp, until the place they need to go is secured and they can safely travel there for their vista/skill point/poi.
either WvW areas have to be exclusive for WvWers, or PvE maps need to have borderlands where people can be raided by the opposite servers…and Im sure PvErs wont like that

Fanboys gonna be fan boys. trolls gonna be trolls.
Yes server transfer away from my guild and friends. great idea kitten.
Your talking out of your kitten. Who the kitten is gonna complain about seperating pvp from pve rewards. Wow.
The OP is so dumb i cant even justify answering that. Obvious troll Is obvious.
Just tell me one thing. Whats ur problem with making a PvP explor title and a PvE?
yeah PvE endgame is currently horrible. but explorers shouldn’t be forced into WvW to get the map completion.
@mista mike – you are the biggest fanboy ive come across so far, and how can you expect someone to leave all there friends and guildies on a server just so they can get map completion?

Show me how they marketed this game as PVP specific game. not fanboy talk. Facts.
And BTW, if this IS in fact PvP only game. Its the worst on the market atm. zerg here zerg there. No balance etc. Plz OP.

I have no problem that the title required you to go into PvP areas. However, I could understand your frustrations.
The title is call “world explorer” right? But the Mist is technically a different world from Tyria. It is a place “amoung the gods” (quote from wiki) so it is another world in the GW2 universe. Since the title is for “world” not “worlds”, perhaps there should be different titles for different worlds? Example: Tyria explorer, Mist explorer, Cantha and Elona explorer (when Anet make them available).
I believe the above should fix the problem and make it fair for all people. I also believe someone can’t really be a true “world explorer” if they haven’t explore Cantha and Elona as well.

Gonna pull the “not sure if serious” card…
There has never ever been a statement or even a slight indication that proves that GW2 is a PvP game first and foremost. Where ever you got this ludicrous idea from you can just put it right back.
GW2 is first and foremost a PvP game
People still believe this? LOL

Two reasons: First of all, because 100% “exploration” means you explored 100% of the game. That means the whole game, not just the parts where you didn’t have to worry about facing other players. I’m fine with that, and I’d rather the developers focus on adding other things I’m interested in than cater to players who don’t even care for half the game’s contents.
Secondly, most of the WvW locations are soloable, just wander up there and get them. There are only a few castle locations you can’t get, and I don’t necessarily agree with those (I think Explorer should be solo-able and you should be able to go up to the gate and it will award you), but it does give you something to look forward to in-game rather than obtain everything not even 1 month after release. Have faith: you will get them.
Also, don’t take things so personally. Life is hard enough, namecalling and getting all angry over what some stranger says about a videogame isn’t the right thing to prioritize your emotional focus on.
Making a legendary requires the badges from WvW kills to make the Gift of Battle, so you are forced to do WvW in order to make one. If you only want the star, and when fixed, the Been There Done That title, then you don’t need to actually participate in WvW.
I just completed a WvW exploration run on an alt (using the server change “trick”). Along with the one Point of Interest and Waypoint I got after getting out of my starter instance, it ended up being 9% map completion. 91% of it, thus, is PvE only.
I do feel that WvW should not be included, for some of the reasons above and for others.
The Mists are not part of the world, they are separate. If anything, have a Mists exploration (maybe include the sPvP maps too) along with a Tyria exploration as separate “achievements”.
Many people trying to complete exploration have no desire to participate in actual PvP. This can weaken the server overall, and could harm the PvE side effects you get from Power of the Mists.
Many servers have massive queues, and the busiest can reach 5-6 hours during weekends. Having a non-participating explorer taking a spot in a WvW map while a WvW participant is waiting in queue hurts the server in general. Server swapping works for now, but is not going to be available forever.
Being on a consistently losing server (and there are a few servers that have little to no interest in WvW) after the free swaps are turned off is a hugely negative experience. You’re forced to get in very early during a re-pairing phase, which will eventually be at 2 week intervals. You will also have to do that three or more times, depending on how often you “rotate” between the colours, so you can access different parts before they become occupied.
