100% guild rep VS part time rep.
Personally, I would not join a 100% rep-guild. I have my own guild for bank storage. =)
My wife and I have our own private guild to share bank space, and I have no desire to join another guild, so my opinion may or may not matter to you.
When I am working at my job, I have to do what my bosses tell me. There’s a direct supervisor, another supervisor who oversees several lesser supervisors, the head of the office, etc. They get to tell me what to do, and in return I get a paycheck every two weeks.
When I play a game, I’m there to enjoy playing the game. I paid for it, and no one is paying me to play the game. Therefore I am going to do what I want, and that includes group activities. If a guild requires me to do something I don’t want to do, then I’m not going to be a member of that guild.
I have one guild for PvE dungeons, another for roleplay, and another for commendations.
I wish I could have chat active for all of them at once.

Boom! Fantastic, and to the best description ever on why most guilds are major pains in the rear. A guild should just be a group of like minded players who ban together to do like minded things within the game. They shouldn’t be serving commands of a guild leader (boss), supervisors (officers), and whatever else for whatever reason.
Worse off are those guild leaders who feel the need to be condescending to members, treating them like children who can’t think for themselves. Usually those are the screamers when it comes to a VOIP server at any event that has a margin of error, failure, or unsatisfactory outcome. And, both those guild leaders (if they’re not the same personality anyways) will always blame the members of the guild for failure instead of honing up to their own responsibility.
There are some fun guilds in this game though. Guilds that have pantsless parades, holiday potion runs, random costume brawls, and the kind of fun stuff that’s beyond tedious grinding of CoF for some coin.
I’d like to get everyones thoughts on weather they like to be in a 100% representation guild, or a part time repping guild and why.
Noone wants to be in a 100% representation guild. There are people that believe in staying in one guild, but there’s a difference between doing it of your own will and having it enforced on you. The 100% representation rule is for the benefit of the guild as a whole, not for the benefit of individual members. Unless that individual members form the leadeship of said guild.
I’d rather be in a guild where players stay because they genuinely like to be there. Not where you have to keep them with threats of punishment.

ok firstly for ppl , like tolunart and others that have their own guild, that’s fine , not repping a guild , just have ur own guild for storage to, but the whole system is quite silly to me , to be in up to 5 guilds and only rep 1 , what the heck is with that, I don’t see the sense in that, and @ astral , there are ppl who want to rep 100% , its very disheartening to see in your guild when trying to organise a fun event or group run, and at least like over 10 ppl not repping, whats the point in joining the guild if ur just going to be another most of the time then ,
You know why don’t they have like in other mmos, when one character and each of ur alts are in separate guilds, so that way u can keep up with the fun events, the chatting that’s going on, n so forth, this is a game for fun like others, but its not much fun when ur trying to organise a guild fun event or run or whatever and most of ur members aren’t event reppin =(

For WvW based guilds, 100% rep is a must. Most WvW guilds that don’t require full rep decay, as members tend to stop participating in that guild, and spend more time in other guilds. Exceptions are made for bank guilds.

I have already said there is a big difference between staying in one guild because you want to, and staying because you would be punished otherwise. The people who want to rep 100% will not leave even if there will be no rule.
And for the people that rep other guilds… They are in your guild because it offers them something they want. They rep other guild, because that other guild offers them something they want that your guild is not able to give them. In the case of repping guilds that “something” is usually team spirit and cameraderie. And that’s something you cannot enforce.
TL/DR: If there are members of your guild that keep representing other guilds, the problem usually does not lie in those people, but in your guild.

I was going to explain my reasons but this sums it up pretty well for me :P
It’s just not a good feeling when you log on see 30/100 people online and 25 of them are not repping. A 100% rep requirement stops that. A lot of the so-called 100% rep guilds don’t find people using their personal guilds for storage and stuff, they only get alarmed when they see particular members frequently not repping.

If your guild was something people actually wanted to represent you wouldn’t have this issue.

False. TSYM has been around since launch with over 400 members and does not require 100% rep. Everyday (like 24 hour period) there are about 150 people online. Most of them rep at least 50% of the time

I’m in five guilds. I rep one of them 95% of the time. I wouldn’t join a guild that needed me 100% of the time.
I believe in joining ONE guild and sticking with that guild until it either bores me to death, there aren’t enough members, or something else happens that makes me want to leave. I really don’t see the point in switching between guilds unless you’re an avid dungeon runner that can’t find groups or you need more bank space. When you spend all your time in one guild, you get to know everyone and you grow close with everyone. When you switch between guilds, you’re essentially severing that connection to your guild.
