I just heard someone saying you can trade in 1000 karka shells for the new accessory item dropped by the one time event boss? Does anyone know where or how this is done?

I have 3.

I’ve killed a lot of karka, I must be doing something wrong.

Not cheap but then, much cheaper than triforge pendant and very similar. Easily the best accessory in the game though.

Mentioned this to those who finished the event on my overflow. Thought it was nice to see that reward could be gotten by others in another way other then the event.

Just found out its a “unique” item so you can only equip one. If you don’t have it though, this is now the only way to get it.

The vendor seems to be gone.

I got one out of the chest…

It dropped for me, but I’m not seeing the attraction to the stats? While it gives some of everything, it gives comparatively little of the stats I need compared to my current gear.

Somebody want to enlighten me?

Just guessing here, but likely because it has a higher stat budget than most accessories readily available.

The 3% crit is equal to most accessories which include crit, the rest of the stats are either more than half or just under half of regular accessories.

so instead of 40, 40, 56. you get 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 3%. Not to mention, but I think it even has magic find?

yes it has 3% magic find too if i m not mistaken.

i got it yesterday and i dont know either if i should drop some of my main stats accessory for something more balanced.

Yeah, it had 3% magic find, too. But what I’m asking is aren’t all those other stats outside of your profession’s main stats just essentially wasted?

Granted it’s account bound, so I guess you can give it to any alts, too.

this trinket is actually very bad compared to any of the exotic crafted trinkets. i dont know why anyone would consider using it

a higher stat budget of useless stats. its horribly rare to find a build that uses most stats , rarer still to find one that actually wants them all and almost unheard of to want them in equal quantity.

My warrior is built to use all of them. so yeah .. its a great piece

Mind linking your build?

It might not be that bad when combined with a tri-forge, especially since you have 2 upgrade slots to boost out your main stats.

+65 Toughness
+8% Critcal Damage
+65 Condition Damage
+65 Vitality

You could always get more if you specialize with other things, but you won’t get the boost’s in some of the other stats.

i got 2 of them,only 1 can be used on a single character,unlike crafted exotics

The Ancient Karka Shell was not meant to perfectly fit your build exactly.

It was meant to be a sizable reward that offers a really significant stat bonus to everyone who participated in the event, irrespective of their build (or whether they even have a build). And a nice souvenir, as well.

If you already have all-exotic accessories that you hand-picked to complete your build, then obviously it is not for you. If you don’t like it, I suggest throwing it in the Mystic Forge.

What’s next? People complaining that the 20-slot bag is a “worthless” reward because all 15 of their characters already have a full set of 20-slot bags each? And that they want the gold they spent on their superior runes of holding back?

The only stat that’s not at all helpful, possibly, is condition damage.

The way GW2 works, everyone has a heal, so even tho healing power doesn’t give a lot of benefit, you will get benefit. We all do damage, are vulnerable to taking damage, so it’s all beneficial, even if it comes in smorgasbord form.
Get gear with stats like that, and you can change your build (which is cheap) without changing your gear (which is expensive).

It’s why the Divinity runes are so expensive.

chill out none is all that worried about a sucky reward short of the fact that its mostly a waste to make item that are generally considered trash. I far as i know it wasn’t required to obtain Remember if people want to express negative feedback in moan form it is fine and next time anet might make reward that are desirable.

It was a reward in the chest for the final event in Southsun yesterday. I think that was primarily what it was designed for, and the stats intended to be of some use to the broadest number of players.

As for those asking who would possibly use it… the answer would be anyone who doesn’t have better yet, and I would guess that applies to a considerable number of players. If you’ve got better, good for you, don’t use this one.
