10k/5k daily/monthly cap
It probably did, but it’s a moot point. Nobody will have hit the cap of either of those by now.
Activities are dead.
Sanctum Sprint record times: any checkpoints – 39.333, all checkpoints – 1:55.633
I wouldnt be sure about it. I got over 9k daily AP and barely played for weeks now.
1 Stivie.4538 = 23498 Riverside [DE]
1 LovePure.3259 = 23031 Fort Aspenwood
adding up all the numbers in http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement gives 12,629 non-daily/monthly AP, so Stivie has 10,869 daily/monthly AP at minimum. That 10k includes things like yakslapper, so there are lots of AP that they likely don’t have, but I would bet they have at least 90% of the non-daily/monthly ones, leaving 13,715 AP from dailies/monthlies. So only 856 dailies and 428 monthlies to go.
another way to go about it: released aug 28,2012. 598 days between then and now, 85 weeks. I’ll estimate 12 dailies and 6 weeklies = 7176 AP from dailies + 5100 AP from weeklies.
They might of already reached the weekly limit still another several months before the daily one is reached.

There are no weeklies.
Could someone link the blog or whatever that talked about the caps? I keep hearing people talk about it but can’t seem to find the source.

“There are a few other general changes to daily achievements. There will be a limit of 10,000 daily and 5,000 monthly achievement points, rotations have been updated, and several relevant achievements have been updated to function in PvP.”
Thanks! Much appreciated.

kitten. I’m an idiot. meant monthlies, so 1/4 as much AP from those then…

I got about 1.8k montlies and about 9.1k dailies so far. But I really need to know if this cap got implemented or not. It would be a reason to play more GW2 again for me.
Just curious. Why would a cap convince you to play more?
I got burned out from grinding all the dailies every day
I guess thats why I do have 9k+ daily points already
Since they severely limited the number of dailies, i guess there’s no more reason to cap them at all. I suggest that this cap idea get scrapped.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
If you are at 9.1k then grind it up to 10.1k and see if it cuts you off. I’ve done just over 5k daily AP. So I’ve got a long ways to go yet. Still I love this change.
Am I missing something Malediktus?
You’ve been playing for weeks now (let’s assume 6 weeks, 42 days), and you’ve got 9100 AP from dailies? (that means 214 AP per day from dailies)???
Are you sure? (Are you hovering over the AP and it’s telling you 9000 dailies???)
let’s assume you could get 25 daily APs – to get 9000 from daily that would be 360 days…
…confused.

He said he has barley played for weeks. Meaning he has not played much over the last several weeks, not that he just started playing for weeks.

Its wierd that noone can answer this easy question. For me it would be the best feature in the whole patch.

Not at all. I got burned out because I felt like being forced to do all dailies every day otherwise I would permanently loose out. While 10 daily points would make it easier to do all per day (instead of the 6 hours per day as previously), it still does not fix the core of the problem

That isn’t a core problem, that is your problem. If it were a core problem it would affect almost every player in the game.

i said core of THE problem not core problem
and whats wrong asking about a feature officially announced ~3 weeks ago for the feature patch and suddenly there is no sign of it left in the patchnotes

Nothing is wrong with asking about it. No one chastised you for doing so. If I were you, I’d assume that it was there since it was mentioned on the feature notes. Too bad it will take you longer to get to 10k now that they limited the dailies so much. I hope you get there soon though. I’m tired of hearing about the horrible life of daily achievement point addicts.
Yeah they did cap it, I saw it written in one of their feature pack posts. I don’t care much for achievement points, so it is not a huge change for me…. but at least there is a cap to position achievement points as something a little more than “I am the biggest grinder in the game” (there is no prestige in that whatsoever). The caps are still really high though, if people did 5 dailies everyday think they would still not hit the top by the end of the game’s life lol (about 5 1/2 years from 0 daily AP)

Still I love this change.
Hands down the weirdest thing I’ve been seeing in the last few years are players who love and celebrate nerfs. /facepalm

The core of the problem is that you want your cookie (stay at the top of leaderboard) and still keep it (not have to work for it).
I just want the AP reward chests. And do only as much dailies as i feel comfortable with (i don’t think i have ever done all of them. Quite often i even skip some monthlies). Now, because of few people at the top of some list that doesn’t mean anything to anyone except them i have not only had my potential for steady AP gain reduced, but also lost the comfort of knowing that there will always be 5 dailies i will be okay with doing. Now there aren’t.

the topic is not about wether you like this cap or not, its about wether it got implemented as announced
still looking for an answer
I talked to some people and it seems the first people will reach 10k in 9-10 days, so stay tuned unless anet posts the answer by then.
Still I love this change.

It’s not a nerf. It’s a good change. It’s so you don’t feel pressured to get every single AP from every daily or you’ll fall behind mentality.

I feel like we had this same conversation, many times over the last year. I agree with you though. Hopefully now, the top 1% of people will actually enjoy this game without feeling the need to ‘100%’ it.

Well, technically, if you aren’t doing your dailies every day and getting those rewards, even if the AP was capped, you would be falling behind anyways, and your ‘fall behind mentality’ would just be a lie.

I don’t see it as a nerf either. Sometimes nerfs are needed. Especially to class balance. This on the other hand used to force you to do every single daily in order to stay at the top of the AP charts. I won’t even go into how doing these daily tasks shouldn’t even provide achievement points, as I don’t see how killing 40 mobs in shiver peaks is an achievement.
For most players it will take a very long time to even reach these caps.

I do my dailies nearly every day. How ever there are those who do EVERY daily to get every single AP, every day. Even after they got their daily reward. Impossible to keep up with those people. They’re also the ones who dictate the reward chests from AP. Making AP less of an achievement; which would only force Anet to inflate the amount needed for the better rewards in future.

Do you honestly believe, that anet would introduce better achievement point rewards in the future?
(and also, i’d rather not have them introduce rewards that would require maxing achievements like yakslapper).
