1H Ascended vs 2H Ascended...
I said this thread would be coming on patch day the only thing surprising is how long it took. gg Kincaidia.3192 gg

Because reasons.
Answer: Warriors use GS’s.
If you can screw over other classes and help warriors then you will probably be promoted at Anet.

You should talk to this guy … I think you would get along.

The requirements aren’t the same though? I’m confused.
The requirements to make an axe aren’t the same as a great sword nor are the requirements to make a shield.
At least as far as I understand it. I only have the plans for the shield and axe right now.
Axe -
6 ingots – 3 for the inscription 3 for the axe blade
5 planks – 3 for the inscription 2 for the haft
shield -
5 ingots – 3 for the inscription 2 for the shield part
4 planks – 3 for the inscription 1 for the handle
I thought it took 10 of each to make a great sword?

500 dragonite, bloodstone, empyreal and angur stone for vision crystal. same requirements for a 6 foot greatsword and a toothpick dagger, despite the greatsword having almost double the stats, higher base damage and double the infusion slots. In addition the dark matter requirement is also the same. As far as the other mats go, the difference is barely noticeable
Why are the material requirements for a dagger, which I need two of, the same as for a freaking great sword?
The same reason why Incinerator and Twilight both use a Gift of Fortune.

spare parts….
in case while you’re crafting and you don’t read the instruction
“The hilt does not go …”

I see. I didn’t consider those for some reason.
realistic…
because i think they give roughly the same amount of exp therefore should cost roughly the same.
Whether its a one hander thats accompanied by another one (off) hander vs one giant sword in both hands….. flew way past everyones heads that where discussing on mat requirements during initial design.
That because the same flaw exists in all crafting and to a lesser extend in dungeon gear buying.
Well, for my thief who goes d/d primarily vs my ranger who goes sb primary…
It just feels like something is really off for one weapon setup to take double the work. I thought they learned this lesson when they dropped the badge cost and token cost of 1h vs 2h weapons:
Kodan Dagger: 300 tokens
Kodan Greatsword: 390 tokens
Invader’s Dagger: 132 Badges + 1g
Invader’s Greatsword: 198 Badges + 1g
And yet, crafting ascended weapons:
Dagger ingredients:
10 Pile of Crystalline Dust
5 Deldrimor Steel Ingot
100 Thermocatalytic Reagent
10 Pile of Crystalline Dust
6 Deldrimor Steel Ingot
100 Thermocatalytic Reagent
A difference of 1 ingot.

I’m pretty angry about this too, because I have to make two daggers as well. It makes absolutely no sense why it would take nearly the same amount of materials to make a dagger as a greatsword, which is 5 times as large. If it takes a lot more work than I think it will, I’ll just make a Warrior and create a greatsword instead of two daggers.
2H weapons should have required two insignas to craft from the start, that’s the problem.
Until ANet uped the grind to “Korean level” to make items, it wasn’t much of an issue. Now though?
From my point of view it’s all really simple ..
2H (GS, etc.) : 5 skills
1H (Dagger, etc.) : 2 or 3 skills
Off-hand: 2 skills
To keep it simple…
Two-hand should cost FIVE,
One-hand should cost THREE regardless,
Off-hand should cost TWO.
maybe they just enjoy making fun of us
Or maybe to keep it simple, 2H costs 2, 1H and offhand costs 1. Thief got 0 offhand weapon, only uses main hand weapon as offhand. And for the class, 1h = 2.5 skills (yeah, it does, special rules for #3 skill)
Don’t even start thinking about a staff wielding elementalist.
This is completely annoying because I use a total of 4 weapons on my warrior build.
Also, did you notice that a zerker GS has 1% more crit damage than two zerker one handed weapons? Honestly, that’s stupid.
because it’s magic!
the vision crystal is a magical reagent…or some such alchemical nonsense…

The same issue exists for exotic or rare weapons.
Any sort of issue affecting exotics or rare weren’t even worthy of mention because they weren’t grindy weapons that took 2+ weeks of daily bound mat and farming. This is a grind almost worthy of the legendary grinds. Hell if you want to make all the weapons your class can equip it probably beats the legendary grind.
So far if you start with a two handed weapons, you’ll get faster access to full ascended stat + 2 infusion slots than if you start with one handed weapons. What gives?
The problem would have been greatly diminished if ANet made the ascended weapons extremely cheap to craft, concentrating the core of the cost into leveling a craft to 500. The weapons themselves shouldn’t use any of the existing mats except maybe a few T6 fine mats to select the stats and the new ascended time gated mats.
And it would have been more alt friendly too :/ Such a waste of opportunity.
