You have to realize this is not a regular outfit that every character has a carbon copy stretched out to fit the models. They are unique to every race and gender. I think that is a fair price for 10 different looks.

the avg outfit is like 700gems, yes, so yes, I do wish it was a tad cheaper, but it not so bad also.

I advocate for everyone that does not buy a wedding dress to get a consolidation prize of, lets say 500 Gems, in case they have to sit through a GW2 wedding because they did run out of excuses not to appear.^^

Its 300 more gems for 4 more outfits. Takes a lot more man hours to make race specific outfit.

As it is an outfit, it only has 4 total dye slots for the entire appearance. This means that one slot changes the color of several areas that the creators designate, so you have to rely on their choice of design elements that are linked to each slot and cannot color each element of the outfit individually like you can with (most) armor.

This dyeing restriction is part of the reason why I do not feel 1,000 gems is a justifiable price for an outfit. Even if if looks different on every race and gender, it’s still an outfit and has all of the downsides of an outfit. 800 gems is the maximum that I feel is reasonable for any outfit.

I laughed. But don´t forget the grandparent outfit in case both parents want to go out adventuring, and the Nanny outfit(sexy or unsexy, depending if one of the married wants to cheat) in cose both parents are rich with lots of legendaries.^^

1000 gems is 223 gold.

People are happily spending 400, 600 or 1000 gold on colors. Not outfits or even hats. Freakin colors.

I fail to see why we should be outraged.

I have 0 issue with the price. I’m well aware that this type of outfit takes distinctly more time, and I’m actually super excited to buy it when I get home. It’s nice to see race specific skins, I’m one of the many that asked for them.

Before HoT and all these gaming show events were an excuse for lack of content it was there devotion to launching in China that halted progress. Before the China launch issue they made baseless and hollow promises some of which are coming with HoT over three years later mind you. So 1k for an outfit is no surprise at all.

This is too expensive. Even if it’s more than one outfit, people who only want to play characters of one race and one gender will pay the same price. For them, it’s like it was with the HoT+Core Game bundle, you pay for something you don’t get.

We should not expect Exemplar and others to continue to be for sale. They’ve already arbitrarily removed several outfits (and other items) from the gem store just so they could offer them again for one of these sales where it is only available to be purchased again for the same price that it was previous to its removal. An example of this is the Balthazar outfit and the unlimited flame tools – they were removed some months ago just so they could be made temporarily available again at full price right now during the anniversary sales.

Looking at the preview, human and norn (presumably the others as well) have issues with the dress clipping in the ground (like charrzooka pointing down into the ground with the longest part of the rifle).

Not really something, that I think is worth 1000 gems (I hate ground clipping).

I agree. My only justification is that in real life, a wedding dress can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, which is much much more than you would spend on a normal outfit.

If 1,000 gems is too much for you, don’t buy it. I understand the sentiment: I like the outfit enough that I’m wiling to spend 700 gems and I’m not willing to spend 1,000. However, I don’t understand the outrage. So ANet priced it above your interest level — why get upset about it?

So I’d be willing to pay maybe 300-ish gems for the Asura outfit only, but I’m not going to pay 1000 gems just so I can use the Asura outfit and ignore the other 4 versions.

The patch notes phrase it as a package “Uniquely customized for every race, you can pick up an account unlock for all of them for 1000 gems” I don’t want this package. I just want 1-2 of them, and would be willing to buy just 1-2 of them.

I doubt the outfit system would allow for this in the same way as cultural armor skins though. So I doubt Anet would ever do this, and as such, I will likely never buy this outfit. And that is my wallet vote.

I would raise a brow if it wasn’t different per race. Only reason I’m not buying it would be the lack of textures for Sylvari. Compared to the others it looks like my graphics settings are set on ultra low.

I am in the same situation and have the same feelings on the matter as you. I would only really be interested in the asura outfit, but I’m not going to spend 1k gems on the full unlock package just to get that one I would use.

It is similar to how the armor skin sets would cost 800 gems for the whole armor set and you’d need to pay that just to get the gloves you wanted. Outfits also have the added element of being extremely restrictive in their designs, which I feel does not compensate for the positive aspect of being ‘unlimited-use’ for the account.

I feel that 1k gems is too much for an outfit, any outfit, with their current functionality and limitations. Will likely wait for a sale on it (if there ever is one) that brings it back down to the 700ish gems I’d consider paying, despite that still being on the high end for what they offer to me.

Weddings are expensive so it makes sense.

Anet just can’t win, can they?

There was a post on reddit a while ago asking if there was anything at all that ANet could do that would generate complaints (that at least had a kernel of legitimacy in them). The consensus was: no, there is nothing at all.

For example, if ANet had given away 100 gems for the birthday, the complaints would be:

• I can’t buy anything with only 100 gems — this is just ANet trying to get me to buy more gems.
• I only created one character on day one while others (some of whom had extra slots due a bug during BETA) created 8 or more. It’s unfair, since they will get 800+ gems, which can be used for all sorts of stuff.
