Hi everyone. Long time no see

As the title says, I have only 2 questions that I hope you can help me:

1. Right now, can I move the icons of my spell bar as I want like in WoW when you shift + click to move a spell wherever you want?
That’s the MAIN reason I stopped playing the game, since I used to waste time trying to remember the ubication of my spells, plus I never liked that no-freedom of choice.

2. Any plan to support Linux? (I don’t think so, but I have nothing to lose in asking XD)

That would be. Thank you very much in advance.

It would be nice if all games supported linux so I could ditch windows, but I doubt it will happen any time soon, if ever.

Well, since nobody answers 2 very simple questions, I assume that both answers are “no”.
Tyvm for your time.

@Ambika: Agree with you.

I’ve run GW2 with Wine on Archlinux (x86-64) by flagging -dx9single. I dual boot though, so Wine is using the files direct from the Windows registry (Win7 if it matters to you).

I hover around 60 fps when playing on Windows, and around 30 fps on Linux. If I encounter a zerg, it drops even further on Linux. This is using max graphics settings, so it gets a little better if I drop reflections, textures and shadows. I have no idea why this happens on Linux and I’ve been unable to fix it, so I prefer to play GW2 on Windows because of this.

I would also love it if Linux were officially supported.

Time ago, I tried to play through PlayOnLinux from Ubuntu, but it’s certainly not meant to be since I played with so low FPS.

Around the media, I’ve read that GW runs slow under Linux since it doesn’t use all the kernels, just one.

Now I only use Linux and not Window$ anymore (even when I have dual-boot but only for some “emergency”… haven’t had any for several months now, though).

Well, I guess I’ll back to play WoW since even when it’s not for Linux either at least I have no problems running it through Wine (plus, WoW lets me to move my spells to wherever I want XD).

Best regards.

Quick answers: no and no.

Longer answers: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO and NOOOOOOOOOOO..

Seriously now, on the first question, no, you can’t do that. Skills 1-5 are defined by your class and which weapon you have equipped, no way to change or swap them. Skills 6 to 0 can be changed a little bit, but with limits, 6 will always be a healing spell (within the ones available to your class), 7 to 9 utility skills and 0 the elite skill. There’s no way, for example, to put a weapon or healing skill in an utility slot, or equip more than 1 healing skill (well, the ones marked as healing, some classes also have some healing utilities and weapon skills) and so on. At most you can change the key bindings to something more familiar, but not the position on the screen.

As for linux, there are no official plans that we know at the moment, and given that the mac version is basically the windows version running trough a wrapper, I doubt there will be one anytime soon. That said, there’s a post in reddit about someone that managed to get GW2 running on linux on a chromebook here:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2ty56v/tried_to_get_guild_wars_2_running_on_my/

It seems to have taken some elbow grease to get it working, though, here’s where he explains how he did it:

“With enough space available I just let the GW2 installer do its thing for a couple hours. I tried running the game through Wine (a windows loader) or PlayOnLinux without much success, as it continued freezing at the loading screens.

I ended up playing with WineGW2 which is an old GW2 loader for linux with optimized settings. It wasn’t working (I doubt it’s still supported) so I copied the settings to a newer version of Wine and used the WineGW2 launcher alongside it.

Essentially I just googled how to fix the problems and mashed all solutions together in a big pudding.

I hope that makes sense, kind of?"

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
