Just came to say I think it is incredibly rude for the bundle of black lion keys to cost 2100 gems. If you buy by prepaid card as I do then you end up with either 2000 gems (not enough) or 2*1200=2400 (with a useless 300 gems).

Please keep in mind what people would be buying gems in when setting pricing because now if I want to buy the 25 bundle I would first have to get another 100 gems

How is that 300 extra gems “useless”?

Also, you could buy a 2000 gem card and purchase the remaining 100 gems with gold (approximately 15 gold).

Exactly! Buying more gems is exactly what you (as paying customer of micro/in-game transactions) are supposed to be encouraged to do. Now go buy those 100 gems like a good little consumer!

its useless because in this case (wanting to buy keys) it would require buying more gems to get the best value, same scenario for your second point (buying them with gold). bundles are supposed to be for convenience as well and I’m just posting to say from my pov level of convenience here = not very.

But those gems aren’t useless.

There are things that cost 300 gems either regular price or on sale. I seem to recall the price of various minis go to 300 when on sale.

Or just hold onto the gems. Maybe in the future, you’ll want something that will cost 300 gems more than what the prepaid cards hold.

Dude, you bought keys. That was your first mistake. I see no point in spending money to support RNGarbage.

Yeah buying RNG keys and worrying about the bundle being inconveniently priced… You’ve got your priorities mixed

ok first thing, i did NOT buy the keys because I didnt have enough gems because they are not priced according to the way you can acquire gems (a hot dog and bun situation).

kindly please take your rng gripes to a separate topic

They do that so you may spend gems on other things. Like convenience items like the bank express or the revive orbs. To make you go ooo, I like that. I’ll buy gems more often to get them.

Or you can think of it like this: it’s a bundle that comes with keys plus X amount of gold depending on the gems to gold ratio. Convert the gems to gold and buy yourself something expensive off of the trading post. Like a mini or a rare dye. Make someone else’s day along with your own day because you can finally afford to buy it.

And if the bundles are 2100 keys, after every 7th time you buy the bundle, you can get an extra bundle.

What? You must be talking about dungeons, because Ranger is currently in a quite nice position in WvW and even PvP (not top tier perhaps, but that can be said about 3-4 of the other classes, too). And even for dungeons, Rangers can do just fine. They’re not the meta, but the meta consists of 3 classes at the moment, and to be honest no matter what they do the meta would still consist of 3 classes, the classes might just change.

So what exactly is your gripe with the Ranger class currently? I know I’m enjoying playing mine immensely.

All companies with their own cashshop currency do this. You want too buy that 2000 gem weapon skin? Sure, buy our $19 1950 package or the $30 3500 package!

Its not as much rude as it is standard operating procedure. At least GW2 offer an alternative, free gold to gem conversion. Compare with Archeage where an apex give 1200 credits or something… And thats something someone else bought for rl money and is a player controlled market. Imagine if the only way to get one or more bl keys for gold in GW2 was to pay 500 gold. It doesnt matter if it pay for more and you only want one key, its that or nothing.

Anet is actually pretty generous with gems.

All these replies and not one of you seem to bring up the fact that you can buy custom amounts of gems with in-game gold. There’s nothing wrong with buying gems with real money. OP, you can use your left over gems from your purchase to buy something else in the gem store, and if you are just short of the next item you’d like to purchase you can buy the last few gems with in-game gold.

You can buy your 2000 gems with real money, then buy the last 100 you need with in-game gold. Currently it would cost you 13.34.97 gold to get 100 gems.

This is intentional, it’s a proven way for them to make more money. Not just anet, all companies. Why do think gift cards exist? Because you’ll either throw away the left over, or spend more than the card had on it. It’s basic financials. Don’t take it personal.

This. If you were really worried about getting your money’s worth, you wouldn’t be buying keys in the first place.
