27MAR14 Speculations
Armor restrictions are staying based on what the Wardrobe post revealed.
Personally I’m hoping that it means Soulbound functionality is removed and replaced with Account Bound.
I wonder if it’s something to do with guesting to other servers.
account bound WXP
I hope: They are making ascended gear BoE
I think: It’s about making soul bound stuff account bound
I’d like it to be removing weapon/class restrictions, but I know WAY too much would have to go into that to happen any time soon. I just really want to be an elementalist with a longbow. It’d be so cool.

There’s a separate blog post coming up (same day) called “Account Bound.” Presumably “Removing Restrictions” is something else.
Removing restrictions for guesting and running dungeons between NA and EU servers? Or is that more of a long shot?
… Oh man, removing guesting restrictions between EU and NA? I hadn’t even considered that. O.o That would be downright incredible! I’d finally be able to play with my EU friends from GW1!
Wouldn’t it be amazing (amazingly unrealistic most likely) if they added a drop down menu in the Hero panel for switching professions?! (like GW1’s second profession switching ability).
:-P
How about removing restrictions so that Light armor skins can be transmuted On Medium armor stats? Maybe heavy armor skins can be trainsmuted on Light armor stat armor?
While I don’t want a straight cut and paste so that you have elementalists looking Like they are wearing chainmail… it Might be nice to see some of the skirt lengths ( yes Mini skirts for me), be applied to medium armor skins…
One of My biggest gripes has been that Light armor wearers can have a mini at level 1 or 5…but Most medium armor is either a Pirate outfit…or a leather top coat.
What about a Leather Corset and miniskirt,.. kind of a copy o f the Light apprentice gear?
That is what No restrictions would be for me… be able to transmute the skin from Light armor…on medium armor. etc etc…
I am pretty sure they are not allowing transmutations across different armor/weapon types. It would be problematic in PvP, where you will need to be able to identify the enemy’s class without having to click on them.
I think removing the barrier between NA and EU guesting/transfers could be a thing.
Other than that, the game really isn’t that restrictive, so hard to guess what it could be.
Allowing guesting and dungeon runs between NA and EU would be absolutely amazing. It would be like merging two communities into 1, twice the number of players. Please do it.
One thing though. There will be a blog post today about “Looking For Group”. If this would include being able to group between NA and EU then the 27th blog post about it would be pretty obsolete…
Removing NA/EU seperation ? d be amaasing
account bound WXP
Probably not, since it will be right in the middle of the WvW Season 2 Tournament. But, if it is, I will be VERY happy!
Account bound trinkets would be very very nice

It will be about removing restrictions on ascended gear. 500 Jewelcrafting also.
Well from what was revealed in the majority of the current blogs, the article will only have one thing in it, which will probably be one of three things:
1) soulbound to accountbound (for hopefully everything, but doubt it will be that. probably certain things, like the sigils/runes gotten from dungeons.)
2) removal of 2 guesting server limit
or
3)something to do with the revamped pvp rewards and how they’re crossing pvp/pve rewards.
Please give us a keyring…
DEATH to Soul Bound! Account bound already does what’s necessary on that aspect, Soul bound is one extra and frustrating restriction to one already restricted system.
Asura thing.

A guardian will be able to play pvp in cheff outfit, apparently, so why not in light armor?

Or salvage! It’s one complete absurd we can only Delete Ascended items because, well, they’re junk.
Mystic Forge is also one fair usage, 4 = 1.
Asura thing.

Considering dyes were something mentioned in the OBrian interview on reddit (I forget the link), and then ended up being part of this feature patch, I’m going to cross my fingers that server restrictions for guilds (which was also mentioned) gets taken care of. I won’t hold my breath, but I’ll cross my fingers…
Additionally ‘removing restrictions’ could apply to a lot of things:
More options for acquiring ascended gear
An adjustment to the time-gating on crafting
Removal or adjustment to the daily caps for things like dungeons
Opening up more (existing) weapon types to the classes
I had others, but they elude my tired mind at the moment. I must go find coffee…
What if, it’s cross-server guild bonuses? For all you non guild leaders out there, guild bonuses and perks only work on the home server, so if you have members in another server, they might as well just get a new guild because they don’t get anything.

I was hoping something along these lines, but specifically in relation to my personal guild vault. It’s the only thing that keeps me on the server I’m on, that it doesn’t transfer.
They will probably announce changes to guilds sometime in April.
I think you will be able to guest to more than 2 servers each day
If they want to keep this game going then it will be the announcement of PvE condition cap removal.
I’d love to see restrictions on armor removed for the sake of transmutation. So I could be an Elementalist looking like I’m in Heavy Armor, even if the Stats are still Light Armor. Or I could be a Guardian in Light Armor even though I’m wearing Heavy Armor.

yeah, dont ever see that happening. ANet believes in being able to identify a class just based on their general “look”. If what you wanted happened, then no one would be able to tell the different classes apart in pvp/wvw.
anyway. my guess is on Removing Soulbound Restrictions. make sense, right? right? Im thinking on a way to unbind an item(expensive exotic anyone?) to resell. Like upgrading armor/weapons from exotic to ascended and being able to resell your old armor on the TP.

Then what would be that thing down the list that says account bound?
The wardrobe indicates that armors will still be separated by weight, and Account Bound seems more likely to address Soulbound/Account Bound restrictions. So my guess is probably a change to guild/server restrictions or condition caps getting an overhaul.

I’d hope the armors would be separated by weight in the Wardrobe. It’s one of the most effective ways to organize them and look through them. That doesn’t necessarily mean you couldn’t transmute one armor type’s image onto another’s stats though. That would be removing a restriction.
Im hoping its something like allowing you to equip more than 2 weapon sets, like in GW1, so that you can just hot swap them without having to open inventory and drag and drop.
Could it be the restrictions on daily bonus chests becoming char bound instead of account bound?
There are many pointless restrictions that should be removed from this game.
The list is long.
Most prominent offenders:
Unique(Cannot equip two of the same Ascended Rings)
This restriction alone has caused more work for support than all other cases of anything else combined. This restriction serves no real purpose other than to frustrate players who have bought two of the same Ascended Ring.
Soulbound and other non-Account bound things such as WXP
Everything should be Account Bound. These restrictions promote alt-unfriendliness.
Explorable mode requires Story mode completion
This is another restrictive feature which is bypassed everyday. Never done Story mode, and never will. Do Explorable everyday, never had trouble finding someone who could get in. Why not just remove this restriction altogether?
Waypoints & Dungeons are contested
Nobody ever does the event/chain leading to uncontesting a Waypoint or Dungeon. Everyone just guests to another server which is open(we even have a website for it!). We only suck it up and do it if every single server has it contested. This restriction wastes our time doing something we do not want to do(the event chain) to get to what we want to do(the dungeon).
Guesting
You may only guest to two other servers per day. We should be able to guest to all servers freely.
Wishlist:
New Weapon combinations for every profession.
Cross-transmutable Armor looks(Mesmer can look Heavy, Guardian can look Light).
Removal of the Time-gating to obtain materials.
Selectable/Unlockable stats on Ascended Equipment.
Finally having all stats available on Ascended Trinkets/Jeweler 500.
Ascended Aquabreather available, or removal of the whole Aquabreather mechanic.
Maybe they’ll remove the restriction of having to click a thousand times on an item to buy multiples of it (anyone who’s done or is trying Thirst Slayer understands my pain). Also, maybe we can right click on an item and get an option to, ‘Consume All,’ if its in a stack. That’d be amazing for the aforementioned Thirst Slayer -and- large stacks of Luck Essence.
Removing the Account-bound restrictions on ascended materials so we can actually help guild members in building their own ascended items?
Nah! That would make too much sense.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
They’ve already announced/strongly implied two coming features that closely match the titles of those blog posts.
“Account Bound” = Account bound WvW experience
“Removing Restrictions” = Equipment is no longer restricted to be either PvE or PvP, and the two separate gear systems are unified into one.
As much as I would love to see more sweeping changes like those suggested in some of the posts above, I’m not optimistic.

Leave your logic out of this! This is for wild speculation!
Probably being able to wear PvP armor skins in PvE and the other way around?

Maybe that dye-ing something won’t be restricted to armor only anymore but you will also be able to dye weapons and backpieces. I don’t believe this for a sec but I can always hope right?

Yeah, these will all they’ll be. I don’t expect anything else. This “big” feature patch so far seems really small, not that “big” in terms of changes. This is why we don’t get our hopes up people…

Account wide WXP is a certainty, but I suspect there will be more to these announcements.
Not sure what, but one thing might be account wide commander tag.

If that is the case, then why have separate blog entries about them?
Chances are, there a more information they want to share that warrant separate blog posts.

Judging by the content of today’s post, the significance of the change that they deem big enough to warrant its own blog post is rather small. Both those changes I listed are far bigger individually than what was announced in today’s post.

Yes, but they’ve already been announced. We’ve already had blog posts on those subjects. Granted, those posts didn’t say when those features are coming, but it’s not a huge to leap to assume they are coming with this patch.
Those items may well be a part of tomorrows posts, but it seems likely there will also be more to them.

Some of the previous blog posts were also on things that had already been announced. Both the crit damage post and the rune/sigil post contained little if any truly new information that had not already been released in one form or another (A Ready Up episode a while back was where I first learned about both of those – mostly the new information in the blog was just the release date being confirmed). In fact, it is exactly the way the crit damage and rune/sigil posts “revealed” previously announced features and basically nothing else that leads me to think the account bound and removing restrictions posts will do likewise, since we already know of some announced features they haven’t yet mentioned as part of the April patch that match those descriptions.
Removing the time gate on some items, exotic gear for instance.
