1) What is going to become of the dungeon weapons when the ascended weapons come out? I suspect fractal weapons will be another means of making ascended weapons since they drop in FotM. But what about the others? I see 2 solutions to that: Either ascended versions will be added or it will be possible to buy empty skins for the tokens from now on. Because otherwise the tokens will lose most of their attractiveness. Especially once ascended armour is added as well.

2) I get the feeling we have been intentionally duped out of our harder. What I mean is what about the Chop-It-All Logging Axe, Consortium Harvesting Sickle and Molten Alliance Mining Pick now that level 500 materials will be introduced? Will they be able to gather them? Because I think not. I think that another set of infinite gathering tools will be introduced like 3 months later that will be able to gather all materials including the new ones. Because I find the fact they are on sale again right now before the update vaguely suspicious. I mean if they are suppose to gather the level 500 materials then it would be a far better idea to put them on sale again after the update as it would make them very attractive. But I think that after the update they will lose most of their attractiveness and we will be forced to pay another 2400 or more gems later.

3) Wont this hurt the economy? I mean we will have to advance our crafting skills to level 500 right? So we will have to craft quite a lot of items from T6 materials. And since they are much less common than the other materials it will cause their price to skyrocket. And some of them are already very expensive. So unless they become as common as T1-5 we are heading for a very rough time soon.

2) I think they’ve said before that the infinite gathering tools will work with any new node they add, if they do (Was a red post, and it was awhile ago, and since search feature is STILL broken, I’m not going through all the pages of the dev tracker).
As for this update, I pretty sure they aren’t adding new nodes, because if you look at the preview article for the 2nd half of 2013, they don’t mention anything about new node, yet they mention that the new material will be from JPs, champ boxes/bags, and something else (can’t remember off the top of my head).

1. Currently the dungeon tokens are used to get different skins or stats. By adding ascended weapons I don’t see this changing. They will still be used to get the skin you want and may also be used to get the different stats you want.

2. It was stated from the beginning the unlimited harvesting items would be able to do anything current and in the future.

3. I don’t think it will hurt the economy. For one, a lot of the gold in the game will be used to buy mats, which will lower the amount of gold. This “should” also lower the prices some to compensate for that. But I could totally be wrong about that also. It is hard to tell on this one.

1. ascended is not waaaaaay better than exotic its a small bonus and mainly beneficial for agony resistance.

2. you dont mine chop or sickle the new materials they are drops and rewards that are timegated.

3.no t6 is used for the levels leading up to 400 the new levels will use t7 until reaching ascended

1. If the leaked ascended stats from Twilight or whatever from earlier this year are correct, then ascended weapons give at least 5% more damage / hit. Which is the same as a superior sigil of force. Up to you if you think that’s significant or not.

3. We have no idea how crafting to 500 will work, anything we say is purely speculation.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

1) They will probably be outdated, as it happens whenever gear gets new tiers in games. Your rares were outdated when you got exotics, that´s the way of vertical progression. But I guess it will happen rather slowly for the majority of people if the current aquisition methods of ascended gear are any indicators.
2) I see no indication why those tools should not work
3) no, economies rarely “hurt”, they change all the time, with winners and losers. Nothing needs to be done here by anet.

The three points i want to know about their next update are the following.

1- Will there be any new content to experience that doesn’t rely on talking to 27 npcs and WP 19 times with these new weapons?

Adding weapon skins is all they’re doing with every patch and a brand new ascended weapon with pink inscriptions isn’t exactly what will magically give you a reason to log in…

My concern is that it supposed to be temporary. With so difficulty out there shouldn’t we have a chance to try it whenever we like?
People can be fed up with it BUT imo it’s better to have it for people than again give everyone some time and then wave a goodbye for half a year.

officially they were and will Always be skins forever…
Sadly from an owner of all but 2 fotm skins <.<

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Keep in mind that because of dungeons, it’s quite easy to get decked out in exotics. Something to use upon 80 so nobody is relying on greens. Ascended gears are for people who want the best stats and something to work towards.

Keep in mind that because of dungeons, it’s quite easy to get decked out in exotics. Something to use upon 80 so nobody is relying on greens. Ascended gears are for people who want the best stats and something to work towards.

too many people are saying exotic is obsolete, thats just totally not true
