1.An ever changing world, the dynamic events are good, but are always the same if they had changing dynamic events it would make for a better playability experience.

2.High lvl cap not easy to achieve. The 3rd day I played gw2 I saw lvl 80’s walking around I remember when I started playing wow it took me 2 months to get to lvl 20. (I got so bored I only played for 8 months. played Guild wars for 5 years)

3.Almost endless lvl cap content. when you do get to the top of your class the game should expand to almost unlimited possibities. I like side games like in FFVII. (for instance) there were so many things to do besides playing the game it made it so much fun.

1. The content and dynamic events are more changing than previous MMOs. In addition ANET has already commented that they are going to add content in the future for free.

2. This MMO is set up to be enjoyed and explored. Those who were level 80 in 3 days , while playing the game their way, most likely missed a ton of endgame quality content. (Side note – played WoW for 2 years – GW2’s method of delivering content is so much better for me)Other MMO’s prior to this had to make the cap harder to cover up the the fact that the only QUALITY content they had was at cap. The other “x” number of levels was just typical grind or step and fetch quests.

3. See answers in 1 and 2. There is 80 levels of endgame content throughout this game , plus pvp , plus WvWvW. This game actually delivers exactly what you are looking for and only asks that you change your perception of what an MMO should be. My perception enjoys this concept of an MMO over the “old” concept.

1. The world is ever changing, the problem is with so many player in these area’s currently the world is at a state of kitten already kicked.’ What we need once in a while is a horde of monsters that just trash everyone and take the world back. A horde that scales bigger than any amount of players that show up for it. Then the world would revert to monster controlled instead of player controlled.

2. Have to disagree, I’d love to see levels removed so people stop thinking it’s important.

3. If you remove levels than all area’s are at max level and all area’s are worth adventuring in. This was the beauty of GW1, everywhere was max level.

1.An ever changing world, the dynamic events are good, but are always the same if they had changing dynamic events it would make for a better playability experience.

This is coming, in addition to new areas to explore, new dungeons, new everything.

2.High lvl cap not easy to achieve. The 3rd day I played gw2 I saw lvl 80’s walking around I remember when I started playing wow it took me 2 months to get to lvl 20. (I got so bored I only played for 8 months. played Guild wars for 5 years)

Those people raced to the top and skipped all the content. Those are often the same people you see here complaining about how there’s no “endgame.” For most of us, leveling to 80 took over 100 hours. Nobody in their right mind would call that a “short amount of time”.

3.Almost endless lvl cap content. when you do get to the top of your class the game should expand to almost unlimited possibities. I like side games like in FFVII. (for instance) there were so many things to do besides playing the game it made it so much fun.

There are lots of additional things to do past 80 in this game. WvW, map completion, and dungeons are the big ones.

The only post-80 thing missing from this MMO is the thing we’ve known wouldn’t be in this MMO, gear treadmills, and for good reason; most people find that horrendously boring and stupid. But apparently, that’s why a lot of people play MMO’s, and that’s fine, but they should go play those MMO’s instead of trying to change this one into something most of GW2’s players don’t want.

1: Community
2: Fun, open, fluid PVE (not quest hub hand-holding, more like TRasa or GW2). I want to be “raided”, not always be the hero raiding the boss. DE’s do this to an extent.
3: PvP that is balanced separately from PVE balance

If those MMO’s are so popular, why is their player count so low compared to this one? I can understand the zombie masses waiting for pandas, we’ll see how it all evens out on the 25th, but as it stands right now, GW2 has over thrice the active player count of WoW.

and bare in mind, you are comparing a released hype game to an 8 year old game that is days away from new content.

No offense, but this game just launched. Everyone jumped over to play the newest MMO, and it will happen again when another MMO is launched.
This could be a mediocre MMO (it’s most certainly not) and the same thing would still happen. Look at SWTOR.

You missed that post? Or do you want to just pretend it never existed? It’s okay, I’ll post it as many times as you’d like.

Guild Wars 2: http://beta.xfire.com/games/gw2
World of Warcraft: http://beta.xfire.com/games/wow

Keep in mind, not a lot of gamers use Xfire anymore now that Steam kinda beats it, so those numbers apply only to people the Xfire client can track, but given the sample size of each, there’s really no reason to believe that fewer WoW players use Xfire on the whole compared to GW2 players. So when viewed comparitively, it gives a very accurate projection.

Sorry, bro. GW2’s kicking the crap out of Grind’n’-Raid. We’ll see where it goes after the 25th, but for now, deal with it.

Because one of those games has/had a $15 a month price tag to continue playing, and all subscription fee games post WoW have experienced a huge subscriber drop off after one month regardless of how good the game was?

Excuse. Everyone who buys those games knows up front that there is a price to pay Monthly. and yet they buy it anyway.

SWTOR was bad, its gameplay was worse than WoW’s, all it had was a good story mode and leveling (FAMILIAR PATTERN?) but the end-game was dreadful. and that is why it went down hill so much.

Oh so we’re just going to hand-wave the sub fee, then, are we? Much better if the game’s decline in subscribers occurred because of the specific narrative that exists inside your head, rather than the more obvious one that has been demonstrated repeatedly in the industry, regardless of what the end game contained.

I think it’s pretty hilarious you’re calling people out on their debating skills, btw. I’m reminded of an old truism about glass houses and the throwing of stones.

Typical lack of reason. When a source proves you wrong, attack the source.

I believe it was Thomas Paine who said “Arguing with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.” I think I’m done administering medicine to the dead today. I’m going to go back to playing my 80, doing content you insist doesn’t exist.

I still think that Ultima Online (pre carebear land) was the greatest mmo to date. It had everything, great crafting treasure finding, pets, and lord britton. The dev’s would randomly pop into the game as player controlled dragons (sometimes the players won, most times the dev’s won) and just destroy towns. Allowing it to be over ran with lich lords and skeletons. I personally loved the chance of running into a PKer. I felt that it was a very level playing field. It’s not like they had some GFG mace of kitten-killing. They had a the same mace as the next guy but I was a wizard that had wrestling…. g’luck pk. People need to look at that game as a basis IMO. However, I am sure that 85% of the player base never heard of the game <shrug>.

And yeah, UO was an incredibly ambitious game. Completely broken, really, on almost every single possible level, but wildly entertaining nonetheless.

I will speak about the OP’s 3rd point. Nearly endless stuff to do at “endgame”.

This is one of the things I can think of that I really do enjoy about MMO’s simply the fact that there is always something you could be doing, something “productive” in game, even if I never get around to actually finishing it.

Hopefully GW2 eventually has a decent variety of stuff like that to replace “gear treadmill”. I hear about how people have been able to enjoy GW1 pve for years, so I’m definately hopeful. =p

I’m not sure I agree 100% with “the whole game is endgame” I really just interpreted that as “there is no endgame”. If you hit 80 and get your gear then go back to a lowbie zone you’ve already done (personally I’m 100%ing zones as I level right now), what will you do? Go do some DE’s you’ve already done, or hell even a DE you haven’t done, but will basically be the same thing since nearly every DE atm is “throw a wave of normal mobs at you” and that’s it. They aren’t fun, they aren’t rewarding, so really it’s just hoping you find that one odd DE you haven’t done that’s actually a little more interesting. (very rare)

I am here for the WvWvW, and that is all I am here for. So getting to the level cap ASAP was more important to me than enything the first week-ish (my play time was somewhat limited). Having done that, all I (and most of my guild) do is WvWvW. I have no intention of revisiting PvE for quite some time.

1.Dynamic events. I feel ANet started something great here with their truly grounded event chains that are more natural than Rifts random rift spawns. I’ll tie this point into the renown hearts as well as in questing that doesn’t have naked mechanics. ANet did a good job at concealing the mechanics behind a bar.

2. Bosses (world and dungeon) that are more like the Kol encounter. After that boss, everything else seems to deteriorate into backing a boss into a corner and mashing buttons and seeing spell effects to the point where you can’t see in front of you. This happens more in world bosses but I wish they would change this. Kol easily seperates the men from the boys (figure of speech, I know there are girls here too).

3. More end-game content for those who completed everything (or most of everything) else. The OP’s point on “Level cap” is ridiculous. Again, another person who only focuses on the lvl cap or mere NUMBER. The explorable dungeons are awesome though but I revert back to my point on the bosses not being all that interesting after a certain point.

Open World – No invisible walls, events and/or set pieces impacted by players
Combat – Offers PVP, tight controls, provides feedback, and is balanced
Economy – Player driven, the developer has very little involvement other then providing the tools for players to use (none to very few NPC vendors)

Not adding reliable service and customer support to my three because that should be a given. =)
