It’s been 3 years since Zena Coinmaker in Diessa Plateau has been disabled. When you try to talk to her you get the system message: “This content has been temporarily disabled. Please try again later”.

Can we have something done about this? Seeing how she is an NPC you have to talk to to initiate an event, and also is a merchant who sells the bovine potion, I would really appreciate it if this NPC could get some attention. Be it fixed or just removed.

Thanks

She was supposed to sell the bets for the cow race. But they disabled it like they disabled the harpy gambler.

They brought back the harpy gambler, but her dialog remains completely disabled.

That includes her post-event shop.

Woah, woah, woah! If anything is coming back, it’s the Potion of Wolf Transformation that disappeared when the NPE swept in and ‘sanitised’ the starter zones. I want that kitten tonic back, please! There was no need to remove it. If anything, I’d like to see more karma tonics.

Oh, and the fix to make sure that Plant Dog Transformation actually did turn you into a plant dog as described was great, but there was no replacement for the brown wolf it formerly turned you into. It didn’t do what it said it did on the tin, but it was still useful!

Now, the only way to become a normal wolf of any kind is to use this recipe, which is hella expensive. Why are the specific animal tonics so expensive, anyway? They’re lots of fun, but so, so costly.

The people demand access to tonics! Down with tonic prohibition! If I want to drink myself into a chimeric stupor, I should be able to do so!

Ms. Eda’s kitchen was closed down by the inspectors because of health violations. She had a serious spider problem she was never able to get under control. They gave her a couple of years to fix it but eventually the insect infestation problem was too much.

At any rate, all these things were too confusing to new players. No telling how many newbies were hit with a critical amount of confusion when they saw that recipe. It had to go for the good of the game.

This topic is sad, I noticed that charr merchant was disabled around the time they added moa racing in LA. Even made a report, because I thought, hey we now have gambling in LA so why not with cows too then. Sadly seems I wasted my time.

These kind of things are bugs that should really be simple to fix, if there was an exploit related to that specific related event then just adjust the price and winnings so that it is not out of whack anymore or replace the betting mechanic similar to what the moa race in LA used (adjusted with prices appropriate for a starting zone ofc).

There is still a bunch of “Unknown” trees and Cannon’s with empty interact prompts (Charr and Sylvari areas respectively) for stuff that was added for NPE presumably. It laments me that this kind of changes (some intended originally as temporary) still remain and make the game seem unpolished to the keen eye.

I suspect that some of these missing items are going to be on the special vendors mentioned in the Pact Commander Mastery track.

That way they can add them back in, and still keep them away from new players. We just have to earn access to them… again.

Joking? No, not really. Here is the explanation as to why they removed the Down State from low levels and other features from the starter maps.

Yeah we thought so too. After tens of thousands of usability testers and interviews with players who tried Gw2 and left leading up to China launch both in NA/EU and in China – we learned we were wrong.
Honestly, we were kind of shocked how many systems, downed included a surprising number of players just didn’t understand. For downed, we tried a downed tutorial, building downed into the level 1 tutorial, etc. We found after usability testing with numerous different groups, the best rate of people learning and understanding it came from having it be layered complexity and the solution we went with above. Intuitively that wouldn’t have been my guess either initially, but we found people understood it better this way than all other options we tried.
This same level of testing led to the other changes as well. At the end of the day the biggest take away I’d say is: all of us, especially people who go to a reddit to discuss a game, probably know games (and Gw2) really really well. We have millions of users, and a tiny % of them frequent game forums or reddit. Just because all of us, me included, learned those systems well and thought it was all really easy doesn’t mean we are the norm

I fail to see how a statement on downed mechanics applies to a pie recipe.

What I do see is a missed opportunity to just remove the idiotic downed mechanic altogether. Shame.

Well let me point out the relevant sentence and explain it then

honestly, we were kind of shocked how many systems, downed included, a surprising number of players just didn’t understand

They greatly simplified the low level maps, removing a lot of feature including items sold by the karma merchants, because there was too much information and new people were having problems understanding and were being overwhelmed and leaving.

I appreciate and understand what you are saying, (and im not having a go at you, as i respect your opinion) but I do not believe for a milli second what the dev was saying! Sounds too much like spin to me. They messed up big time in my opinion with the all hallowed ‘metrics’. He says there had ‘thousands’ of testers and feedback from people who left. So they are saying they sent out emails asking why they quite? ( don’t believe that for a second), or just as it seems from there just looked at reddit and the forums (as it it seems to be implying in that response), because as we all know, everyone says the absolute truth on there!
Sounds more like some people needed to make an excuse as to why it didn’t take off big time as they thought it would in China and needed to come up with some corporate jargon to cover themselves from getting the order of the royal boot down the road!
Sure there was a problem with toxic champ farming in beginner areas, (and needed to be stopped) but that was anets fault by squeezing them from other areas, so they naturally gravitated to those areas. Any fool could have predicted it. If you have desirable stuff such as legendary items, which require a ton of mats your going to have farming, and shutting down other areas of farming made them gravitate to there.
Honestly, we were kind of shocked how many systems, downed included, a surprising number of players just didn’t understand
Seriously? Of all the stuff that they were ‘shocked’ by, the downed system was making people quite? Find that incredibly hard to believe. If they were going to rage quite over having a second chance of life they were going to quite for any number of reasons. And if they were so ‘shocked’ by some of the systems, why didn’t they go out of their way to at least try to explain how blast finishers, and fields work! (Having said that it was a good move to have the mini areas in the starter zones to explain evade).

Anyway, rant over, back on topic, it would be nice to see some of that stuff back in the starter areas
