Edit: srsly grats thats rediculous kaboom
(edited by Chopps.5047)
ty was hoping to be first to 300% until i realized 300 wasn’t max account mf
You’re gonna have some issues improving your Luck from now on.
0/0 is undefined. In all possible forms.
Well you know, things are things, it is what it is n stuff.
What a waste of money lol
I can’t believe someone did this.
I was the guy who did it and not the guy that took time to post a negative comment about what they couldn’t achieve. Yarrr yeah I mean you dude.
Gratz. There should be a title for this, or at least some extra achievement points!
Gratz!! Awesome man!
Congratz! It’s a hard earned (both time and $$) achievement! Now enjoy your farm it’s 300% more efficient now)))
thanks I think I am GW2 game first for account magic find. no screenshots so far.

. Yarrr yeah I mean you dude.
“What they couldn’t achieve…” is an assumption that is most likely untrue as this is easily attainable with $$ if someone really wanted.
It’s true he could’ve simply typed “congrats!” but you’re on the internet so don’t expect everyone to hand out compliments.
As for world first, there was a person awhile ago explaining the impacts of having 300+ MF w/ a screenshot and how it was not as wonderful as expected but i can’t be bothered to find the post

This is just one example, def not the first.
yeah. thanks for the replies. I wasn’t looking for close calls. I know other ppl have gotten 306% MF. I was just figuring since i had a 1 up of 307% that I would post it.
I claim first! no one has argued the fact or provided a screenie.
Nice going! I haven’t even reached 100% yet…
Since you’re there now, quick question for you: For us mortals, does 300%+ actually make enough difference to make it worth striving for?
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
Man I am just at 80% or something and salvaged everything I got. Gz on the 300% man, from what amount did you start to notice the improved mf? If you ever did notice it of course
Saving my birthday boosters, that would be 400%+, long way off though but I’ll do it eventually.
Congrats. I am not yet at 100% but I think I am ahead of my friends so that is all that matters Well done though.

It just means you get 300% more of the loot affected by MF.
Thing is the amount of luck it costs to get to 300% is insane, and kind of defeats the point. /shrug
Getting to 300 luck with ecto cost around 4k gold(2k gold assuming you are just buying 1s greens). It is a large increase in the amount of rare loot you get to drop. If you are farming for t6 mats with that much magic find you will probably get triple the amount.

You got something wrong. MF doesn’t increase the loot you get, it improves the loot you get.
How much MF can you get now? 300%100%40% Food+ 50% Booster + 15% Banner + 10% Guild + 20% Infusion = 535% or did I miss something?

Do you have a source on that?
I’m pretty sure it just makes it so the “valuable” drops, like blues/greens/rares/exotics and certain mats increase in drop rate.
So if you get 3 rares an hour, 100% MF = 6 rares an hour, on average.

Lol no. Nobody know the real MF that’s actually working behind the scenes, ie how the loot table calculate drops. Most peoples experience with the game prove its very, very random.
To take an extreme example, if the real drop chance is 1%, then 100% “MF” bring it up to 2%. Whoopdidoo.

Lol.. I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying then.
1% droprate boosted to 2% is a 100% increase.
100% is significant.
And like I said above :
If a 1% drop rate gives you an AVERAGE of 1 rare per 100 mobs, then 100% MF (2% drop rate) would give you an AVERAGE of 2 rares per 100 mobs.
Of course it’s still random, but ON AVERAGE, it’s still a 100% increase.
Just because it’s random doesn’t mean MF is useless.
Is going from 10% crit chance to 20% crit chance crap just even though it’s random?
If a 1% drop rate gives you an AVERAGE of 1 rare per 100 mobs, then 100% MF (2% drop rate) would give you an AVERAGE of 2 rares per 100 mobs.
Which would be completely ignoring the agressive DR the game have. Getting more per 100 mobs means faster loss of MF effectivness.
Surprised no one has asked but what was the cost for that? Like… ballpark..

Even higher. Add in achievement points MF (16% if you have over 28000 achievement points), outnumbered 20% in wvw, guild 10% in wvw, and laurel booster 30%, an extra 76%!
You can’t debate that DR negates MF because DR likely works like exponential decay, right? It’s a factor in the magic find formula that simply decays over time, I would imagine. And we’re not even sure if the decay rate resets on map change or whatnot. In this case, which, I mean, this is almost certainly how they do it, right? So in this case, 300% magic find is always better than 100%. Whether it’s cost effective to go all the way to 300% is another question entirely though.
If a 1% drop rate gives you an AVERAGE of 1 rare per 100 mobs, then 100% MF (2% drop rate) would give you an AVERAGE of 2 rares per 100 mobs.

…. That’s not how it works.
That was just a made up measurement to show the “average” for a drop rate. It’s not 1% drop rate = 1 rare PER 100 mobs, like some kind of benchmark.
It’s still completely random, but you’re still getting TWICE as much as you would be getting otherwise, with 100% MF.
Well I ran around frost gorge and killed drakes and got nothing but a few eggs and a 3 t5 claws for no more than 10-30 minutes. Some thing is wrong in that map. I farmed Champs with the FG train and Jorlag and got better stuff and few rares and money.
I remarked in map chat, if I ran through FG on a fresh new toon that never set foot in FG, I’d probably get stuff from every kill with 100% or more in MF (which I have atm 75% + boosts/food)
Congrats again, that’s crazy!
