Guild Wars 2

So the 3rd Anniversary is coming up, only days around the corner and you know what that means, sales and events. So what would we like to see return in that gemstore? I think they need to finally buckle down and drop some decent stuff. All the old glasses and the famous rabbit ears I know are a huge deal amongst the community. The classic weapon skins and the Grenth hood are also classic favorites of course. Maybe some new stuff would be interesting. Queen’s Jubilee is coming up too or should at least, don’t know if they will do it though. Would be interesting to see some stuff go down in the newly renovated Lions Arch.

I guess the expansion explains why there was no birthday celebration in years one and two also? Good to know.

All I’d like is a birthday present wrapper that will give you a random, collectible item and a new collection achievement.

I wouldn’t mind an improved Birthday Blaster. One that lasted 15 minutes instead of 10.

It would be nice if they did something.

What I’d like to see is Anet setting up an automated schedule of festivals, like Guild Wars 1 has. That apparently keeps going year on year with minimal input from the staff. Sure there’s nothing new included, but it’s enough to not only keep current players happy but actually gets some people who have otherwise quit to come back and play again for a few weeks.

Then we’d have special events periodically even if they’re all busy working on new releases.

Except part of the reason people ask for the Queen’s Jubilee to come back each year on the anniversary (other than the fact that they’re at the same time) is because that includes the Crown Pavilion, which to many people is an analogy for fun events with good loot (or at least good loot which apparently makes it fun regardless), and the Gauntlet which a lot of people really enjoyed. Even me and I was terrible at it.

Only problem with that is jubilees generally don’t happen every year, it’s usually only for the big ones, 10 years, 20 years (or 25), 50, 70 etc. Although in real life that’s at least partially because (in the UK at least) every time there is one people complain about the cost and the time it takes.

I’m thinking one of the reasons they ask for the Jubilee to come back as its the best of not very good choices to ask for. They want some sort of celebration and nothing else really fits so they ask for that, not because it’s so great but because it’s the closest to a birthday celebration they’ve seen so far.

I really miss the Guild Wars 1 birthday celebrations. Sure, it was pretty much the same events and drops every year. But the distance of a year in between made it fresh enough to enjoy. It was something just about everyone enjoyed.

Personally I think ANet is making a mistake in not celebrating its birthday, even though doing so “breaks immersion.” It’s part of human nature to celebrate important events and letting it go by, essentially without comment, is saying, “This is not important. This has little value.” Observing important days together in some sort of ritualized manner helps brings communities together. It brings “atomized” strangers into part of a cohesive group and promotes unity within the group.

While there will certainly be some gem store sales, i doubt that the will release any new or recycled content as they didnt do that last year either.

SAB was already ruled out, it wouldnt make sense to open up the labyrinthe cliffs without a mayor overhaul because the zephyrites crashed in maguuma jungle, so in order to re open it, they would have to make quite some adjustments.

The queens jubilee is what it is, a jubilee. In August 2013, the queen celebratede 10 years as reign, she didnt celebrate 11 years as reign last year, so i doubt she will celebrate 12 years this year.

Even though the gauntlet and crown pavillon got reopened last year, it was during the festival of the 4 winds, together with labyrinthe cliffs in April. But that also included some rework, as the rewards got updated, from the emmisaries to festival favors.
Also, since the last opening of the gauntlet and pavillon, mobs have seen quite some adjustments in combat mechanics, so i doubt that they would open it again with the same mechanics. New mechanics take time to implement and I doubt Anet has it atm.

But if I had to put my gold on any content to be releases between now and HoT, it would be gauntlet and pavillon but i think its more likely we wont see anything.

I know they recycle gemstore content for the most part but its usually the same stuff that we have recently seen not the original stuff such as some of the oddly discontinued items from the gem store. Don’t know why they discontinued them entirely unlike how they take stuff out from time to time and just bring it back at later dates. I would just like to see something new maybe or the retired stuff brought back for once in 3 years. A decent birthday present would be nice, queen jenna was useless and I never use the cake cannon w/e thing. Idc what they do as long as its somewhat significant.

My guess would be the return of the gauntlet. Also, collecting wrappers and exchanging them for a lucky dip that gives out one of the rare event skins.

The staff itself would be a toy just like the Birthday Blaster. It would allow you to summon delicious sandwiches for you and your friends, giving semi-useful buffs. The staff would look like an oversized toothpick with a gorgeous 12 inch sub at the top, crowned with a nice olive for garnish.

The only actual work Anet would have to do to implement this is the weapon model, the skill visual effects, the buff numbers, the drop rate numbers for ingredients, and the icons for the ingredients and stuff… Come on Anet!
