3rd Birthday
I’m not opposed to something more useful, for sure. Although, I don’t mind the insta-20 scrolls since I use them for key farming characters. I’m saving one for the revenant, but the rest I just use.
Also, if the scrolls were simply “get 20 levels” rather than “get the first 20 levels,” that would be more useful to most players, I think.
I hate to be cynical or sound ungrateful, but it seems to me that we had this conversation many, many times last year around this time. Lots of players had excellent ideas for a second bday gift that people would find useful but not over the top. We did get the birthday blaster, which is kind of fun. But our ideas about changes to the leveling scrolls were ignored entirely, and hopes for a choice from a set of exclusive minis were dashed as well. Have the conversation again if you like, but I think last year goes to show that getting the bday gifts “just right” isn’t very high on the priority list, and probably will be even less so this year with HoT in heavy development.
This forum is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. ~DevilLordLaser
Truthfully for me, at this point after 2 birthdays, they’ve lost their luster and are no longer something to anticipate. A merchant to trade in unused birthday gifts is as good as anything else.
To bad I wouldn’t be able to trade in all those mini Jennahs I got.
ANet may give it to you.
Maybe they will up it to a level 21 scroll.

As it’s also the 10th anniversary of GW1 this year, some sort of nostalgic theme/item would be appropriate.
Perhaps a set of minis based on the original heroes or henchman.

That’s what I did with my insta 20 scrolls, ran key farms. So if they give us more of those, I won’t mind even though I get enough Tomes of Knowledge to do regular key runs already.
Another mini would be nice (that dragon mini?) but I’m really not expecting to get another mini. There are so many minis in game already.
ANet may give it to you.
Since the year 2 insta 20 scrolls not stack in the bank, I’ve found myself just not opening the mail with the presents.

They do stack. They just won’t stack with the ones you get for your first birthdays.
I wonder who thought of the idea to add an identical mini to the birthday gifts, which you can only use once… So, for the third birthday, I’d like the option to Forge it…
I found the blaster quite nice last year. Which was along an interesting line of usefulness/fun toy. I didn’t mind the mini the first year but getting 5 of the same thing is kinda underwhelming.
Scrolls I don’t mind entirely. Just wish they could stack with previous years. Boosters are always good though.
Curious to see what they come up with. As the 2nd year compared to the first one was quite different. Hoping one year they’ll do a free storage slot in the bank of something on the lines of GW1. But thats hard to do with something character bound I guess.
Yeah more 100% 24h MF boosters would be nice, or a free Lionchest key for every character!
Anything but a silly gun or lvl20 scroll to take up yet another inventory slot.
Maybe the 3rd birthday gift will be a SAB infinite continue coin. HAHA

Ouh man, that would be too good to be true ID
Please Anet don’t be lame this year, don’t make it something repetitive.
Here’s something original. 1; A weapon skin at random selected from among any of the past weaponskin collection. Idea 2 create a 3rd birthday ascended armor collection from which we could get 1 or 2 pieces of it per character again at random. Idea #3 A 3rd birthday ascended weapon collection including water weapons again we get one of these at random per character.
Should you decide not to go with any of these ideas at the very least be original and not repetive like last year where I was part of an 8 children family and our unoriginal parents gave us all the same lame game gifts.

3rd year b-day. Another crappy mini Anise and move on..
I really miss the old b-day from GW1..
What were GW1 Birthday gifts like?

Made more sense when minis were not account unlocks but items you had to keep in inventory to use. Was a way for each Char to show off they were year old without having to transfer around.
The system change removed the value of duplicates.
What were GW1 Birthday gifts like?
Exclusive minis from B-day. (More than 100 of the types)
Infinite transformation tonic. (more than 20 types)
Oh I forgot Anet idea #4 a set of 2 dancing racial holograms, such as Tengu, Largos, Kodan, Hyleck or the new races in Heart of Thorns. If those can’t go as a birthday gift I would gladly buy them in the store. Again this was part of the collector edtion in Factions and I still think one of the best ideas yet.
Sincerely, I Barf Tics.
Maybe the 3rd birthday gift will be a SAB infinite continue coin. HAHA
Already have the infinite coin taking space in my bank, give me SAB saga 3 for my birthday and I be happy
What were GW1 Birthday gifts like?
they were pretty sick, unique minis for all of them, I still log into GW-1 from time to time to see if some of my characters got new bdaypresents, althouth it is kind of sad I am more excited for the bdaygifts in a game I don’t activly play anymore than for the presents in the one I play xD
I mean to other MMO-Players this is probably no big deal but arenanet kind of set the bar for themselfs by their first game
here you have a list of all the cool stuff you could get, in case you are interested ^^

Just so you don’t get confused: Green was the colour for rarity in GW-1 xD

I still log into Guild Wars 1 about once a month to open open my presents there and it is sad that the presents I can get from an older game that I don’t play are more interesting than the one I do.
The difference is anticipation. Once you open your Guild Wars 2 present, you know what all the rest of your chars are going to get. It’s only your first char each year that gets something new. Your other chars get recycles.
But ANet knows all this from 2 years of numerous threads and posts by many people and obviously it’s not something they are planning to change. So I’m expecting a level 20 scroll, a birthday booster, and one item different.
ANet may give it to you.
well, a little part of me still hopes for at least something interesting this year for my characters bday, especially since it is the HoT release as well, but I guess thats just a fools wish :/
1x Restore Running Animation Ticket
1x Restore Idle Animations Ticket
A new option like ‘block’ that allows people on a person by person basis to show them as a nameless, faceless thing in grey armor (like when there are way too many people on the map and people that are a little bit further away look grey) if you come across them and decide you don’t like how they look. That way no one would have to be offended by me, if they choose, yet I can see myself as I like. That way you wouldn’t have to block ‘everyone’, in the event you have a friend or family member that looks similar, because they’re just different (if the issue is really me in your immersion test).
That’d be a nice happy birthday.
All I want is for the level 20 scrolls to be stackable.
But thats probably too much to ask.
This year we will reach the third birthday for our characters, that were created at the original launch of GW-2, the question is: will the birthday presents this year be anything usefull?
I don’t know about you guys, but I have over a dozen “level a character to 20” scrolls in my bank and I would wish for something a little more usefull(a few tomes of knowledge would be so much more usefull, for example, I really wish there would be something like a ingame merchant that gave you around 5 tomes of knowledge for each lvl 20 scroll you give him)
What would you guys think about a change like that?
Just ONE level 80 scroll. Once in a lifetime deal. That would be nice.
I hope, that we get something useful/funny.
Hopefully not again any Lvl 20 Boosters.. if they shoudl come up with them again, then i hope it will be this time Lvl 40+ Boosters, as they have been already basicalyl datamined, that there are also those Boosters with higher instant boosts, so coming up again with instant lvl 20 boosters for a third time in a row would be really laughable.
Coming up with these 24h birthday boosters as somethign special would be also ridiculous, now that we can get monthly such a booster for 1h for just login in….
So my personal guess and suggestion would, that the next birthday gift should consist out of these thing:
- A Tool Item that works like a significantly improved Flames of Kryta-Torch, the “Divine Fire”
http://media.tumblr.com/a6db21a7eaf478d1abcac86db03adc08/tumblr_inline_nihodnYPiE1qk8yz4.jpg
Really, personally since I earned that Flames of Kryta form the Meta Achievement in the past and used it the first time, the very first thing that went through my head is, why doesn’t that thing shine alot brighter..even a normal torch thats used as a weapon gives more light, than this thing…
And then now with the actual living story there is this Divine Light, which really shines bright, so bright, that it really can make be see thigns in the darkest spots of GW2.
it must be the original, but just some kind of renamed magical replica of the Divine Fire, which is a permanent more owesome looking Torch Tool that could come maybe together with some skills that aren’t fcor combat, but rather just for the looks to perform some flashy moves with it, which could give you, a potion type buff, whereas the birthday blaster gave you a food type buff.
- A new Birthday Instant Booster Item: Instant Crafting Level Booster for all Crafting Professions at once.
Use it on a Character and that Character will receive on all Crafting Professions a Boost of say for example +25 Crafting Levels.
Would be a nice little QoL help and somethign that would be worth it as a year year birthday present to help with it boosting a new Characters crafting levels..
Lets say there is then a limitation with these kind of boosters, that you can’t boost with them over say for example Crafting Level 250, but therefore do these boosters count directly for all Crafting Professions at once.
- A new Birthday Time Duration Booster: Merchant Booster
Boosts for 24hours your Gold Find by +100%, Items you sell to NPC Vendors will sell for double the amount, than normal and salvaging Items under the influence of this Booster have an increased chance of +50%, while there is also an increased chance of 50% to keep Upgrades from salvaged Items or to find Upgrade Components from them like Insignias for example.
