Just wanted to encourage folks who are tempted to forge for some precursors. Ive had really great luck within my very first week of playing the forge, maybe Zommy is feeling generous so give it a try!

If anyones curious I used forge stones and all dungeon weapons with every attempt and recieved a pre about every 10 tries. In this order – The Lover, Chaos Gun, The Hunter, Howl.

The RNG is with you, young Luckwalker.

Yep, buy rares with the gold from these and then you shall get even more precursors, totally.

I was actually leveling huntsman with some gold from t6 mats.

PS: I’m not saying people should spend all their gold and try to gamble the forge. Just if you have some extra forge stones and dungeon tokens…it couldn’t hurt to try.

Been here since Beta testing, the 3-day head start, and played thousands of hours already. After 3 years – I’ve never seen a Pre as a drop or from the MF.

I have effectively given up all hope – Just like I gave up hope on getting a Q9 Obsidian Edge or Voltaic Spear in Gw1.

Extreme RNG luck, I threw in about 1500g worth of exotics and 500-1000g worth of rares to get nothing. Since almost two years I never used the forge in order to get a precursor again. I feel healthy again.

I got pretty lucky got a dusk with about 50 gold spent but now i spend 100+ gold nothing but anyways I made about 1350 gold off the dusk lol

I got dusk off 12 rares. It’s the only pretty I’ve gotten in 4500 hours

Its easy to spend 1000s of gold and get 4 precursors, come to the forum and show pics of them and declare ‘i got them putting only 12 rares in the MF’….

Not sure if I’m overly suspicious but whenever I see stuff like this either in game or on the forums I always just assume ANet is somehow behind it.

I’ll use an analogy from another post - there is a fine line between making a player work for treats and having them abandon the task as unrewarding or too hard. If you never let the cat catch the ball of string then it will eventually walk away. Best to then show the cat another cat who didn’t give up and then won the ball of string, thereby revitalising the first cat.

A little tweak to the RNG specific to one account and bingo! The Xmas party is paid for in cash to gem sales as everyone rushes to buy stuff so they can try again and maybe be as lucky too.

OP don’t misunderstand me, I’m happy for your luck. I just wish it was occasionally my account that got the RNG tweak.

But it could hurt to try, because RNG is garbage and you could get better return on those items by salvaging or selling than by being slapped in the face by the toilet god.
