4 Southsun Cove events - Daily
It’s meant for someone who actually has an 80, and thus is able to do it. If you’re new it’s easy to do the vista, harvest, or Frozen Maw.

So… because someone does not have a 80, they may not have the additional rewards offered. Sounds punitive to me…
Yeah, you are right. They should give you a free precursor because you don’t have a 80. Otherwise, it is punitive.
It took me almost an hour today to do the PvE dailies, mostly because of the 4 Southsun events and because the Maw only pops once every 2 hours. By comparison, the WvW stuff was done in about 10 minutes.
I used to get this kitten done without thinking about it, but now we’re being dragged around by the nose. I really don’t like this new system.

So don’t do them then. You’re missing out on 10AP if you don’t (which will be capped at 15K eventually anyway). If it was the old system then you’d be losing out on a lot more. Now you don’t. Seems like a win to me.

If you don’t have an 80th level character on your account, you get Queensdale events instead of Southsun events. That’s a fact.
I was happy to see Southsun thrown into the lineup.

Hmm…. While I don’t like to get involved in these arguments, I couldn’t help but point out that my guild new members who are genuinely new to the game. None of them got this “Queensdale Event substitution” that you, refer to. Maybe they all bugged at once?

I don’t understand 2 things:
1. Southsun is an awful map and should sink into Tyria.
2. Why didn’t you just go kill a sentry in wvw? (Don’t give me the “I shouldn’t have to” answer since its obvious you were doing something you didn’t want to anyhow)

It was refreshing to have an additional reason to visit my old friend the Karka Queen. We took some new level 80 alts and explored the map, gathered some mats and killed the KQ. Got a nice exotic drop too boot! Even knocked out a jumping puzzle, had a few drinks and sun bathed on the white sandy beaches. Good times:D

I have an alt account without an 80 and it only gets low level zone dailies, and ive heard from others who have the same.
So it could definitely be a bug, considering how new this feature is. Have them report it and see what happens.

It is not easy to do Frozen Maw on a low level during the daily events. You won’t be able to do enough damage to get credit for it.

the best thing to do in zerg type events is ask for a group invite or invite others to your party. It also allows you to get loot from mobs easier if everyone in the group can “tag”/ hit something once or twice.

A screenshot from today’s daily on an account where the highest level character is 43:
I can confirm the Queensdale event completion is on for lower level accounts.
